Hearing the conversation between Norman and Anton, Eddie and Phil understood.
The group arrived at the "Limb Regeneration Technology" department, where they saw the New York Police Department personnel cleaning up.
"Mr. Osborn, do you need me to introduce the Lizard's identity to you?"
George Stacy greeted Norman Osborn, then looked at Curt Connors, who was slumped on the floor with a deathly pallor. He shrugged and continued, "I don't think so. You must be familiar with Osborn Company employees, especially someone as intelligent as Dr. Connors."
Norman took a long look at Connors, his tone friendly. "Chief George, can I speak to Connors alone for a few minutes?"
"Of course."
George seemed to have expected this and didn't refuse. Instead, he waved his hand, instructing the officers guarding Connors to step back.
He wasn't worried that Connors would suddenly attack anyone.
Without the Lizard form, Curt Connors was just a professor with crippled limbs, utterly defenseless.
Anton and the others also stepped back, not deliberately eavesdropping on the two men's conversation.
However, from the looks of it, Connors didn't respond at all. Norman was the only one speaking, his expression somewhat regretful.
Afterward, Norman nodded to George, who then instructed his men to take Connors away.
It seemed that Norman Osborn had rushed to the Osborn Company building solely to say a few words to Connors.
Anton understood the situation immediately.
George hadn't taken Connors away immediately; he'd been waiting for Norman Osborn to arrive.
Because Norman wanted to say a few words to Connors!
The allure of capital!
Anton sighed inwardly. At that moment, Norman approached him, a smile on his face, clearly in a good mood. He said earnestly, "Anton, thank you for your help this time."
"We're friends."
Anton replied tactfully, confident that Norman understood his meaning.
"Yes, we are friends."
Norman nodded and continued, "But even friends need to show their support. Anton, the Osborn Company will cover all the losses your film crew incurred, including this shoot. I'll instruct Osborn's staff to provide you with the best possible resources."
He paused, then added, "Also, the funds Harry invested in your film... if it fails, he won't receive any remaining dividends, and everything will go to the DC Company. If the film is profitable, he'll only get his initial investment back, and I'll personally cover the rest of the profits... But Harry mustn't know about this. After all, he's very excited about this investment."
"Understood, you're incredibly generous!"
Anton smiled.
This Lizard incident, while somewhat unexpected, had yielded significant rewards.
[Capture the Lizard, Reward 1 million Justice Points]
[Justice Points Balance: 13 million]
Including this system reward, he was one step closer to his ultimate goal.
Of course, as Anton thought, the Lizard wasn't that formidable. Also, his appearance this time didn't cause any major issues like in the original story. The Justice Points the system rewarded him with weren't even as much as he got for thwarting the Continental Hotel.
Anton could roughly understand that the Justice Points awarded by the system were based on the threat level of the character, the potential damage caused by the event, and its overall impact.
Clearly, the system didn't think the Lizard's influence was significant.
It was probably also due to the fact that the Lizard had just appeared and hadn't had a chance to do anything before Anton stomped him into the ground.
However, even if it was a small amount, every little bit helped.
With Norman Osborn's promise, he essentially got 150 million in film investment for free.
If the film made a profit, there would be even more dividends, promoting the development of DC Company.
It wouldn't be an exaggeration to say he made a killing.
"If you're going to interview, you'd better hurry."
Norman Osborn suddenly looked at Eddie and Phil beside Anton and smiled. "I might not have this free time later!"
"Of course."
Phil quickly raised his camera and went in front of Norman Osborn.
Eddie's expression was complicated, but he ultimately said nothing.
His past grievances with Norman Osborn had vanished the moment Drake was arrested and Norman Osborn slipped him a check for ten million.
That's just how a society built on interests worked.
As long as Norman Osborn didn't provoke him, they would remain on good terms, like water from a well and a river.
A moment later.
The senior executives of the Osborn Company, along with some board members, arrived at the Osborn Building for a meeting.
Anton and the others politely took their leave.
The New York Police Department left a few people to secure the scene. George Stacy, eager to interrogate Curt Connors back at the precinct, didn't bother with the Osborn Company's regular operations.
"Big news!"
Phil looked ecstatic, convinced that his decision to work at the Daily Bugle was the best one he'd ever made.
Look at everything he's been through lately…
The Life Foundation, the symbiote incident! He witnessed alien life forms landing on Earth, learning that humanity wasn't the only intelligent species in the universe.
Hell's Kitchen, the downfall of the criminal empire, the capture of Kingpin! Although he didn't participate directly, he reported on it behind the scenes, learning the whole process from Eddie, making him a half-witness.
This Lizard incident, he held his camera and recorded the entire process.
Whether in front of the camera or behind the scenes, probably not many people understood the whole story better than he did.
This made Phil very satisfied.
As someone who naturally loved to pursue excitement, the Daily Bugle was the perfect place for him to showcase his true nature.
Batman! Venom!
The Daily Bugle, a veritable haven for unsung heroes.
Eddie and Phil returned to the Daily Bugle headquarters, ready to work overtime and churn out tomorrow's edition, aiming to boost the Daily Bugle's sales to new heights.
Naturally, the original front-page story for tomorrow was scrapped.
Classic move!
The printing company was probably used to it by now.
Anton parted ways with them, heading home to get some sleep. What did the working class's problems have to do with him, a capitalist? Even the entire production crew's losses were covered by the Osborn Company; he had nothing to do with it now.
Everyone thought the Lizard incident should end here.
However, night fell.
The New York Police Department, after interrogating Curt Connors and transferring him to a prison on the outskirts of New York, found several black SUVs blocking the prison transport's path on a deserted road.
Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!
A barrage of bullets rained down, forcing a path through.
Then, a group of black-clad thugs aimed their guns at the police, threatening the driver.
"If you want to live, don't move, officer!"
The thugs split into two groups.
One group smashed the vehicle's radio equipment and destroyed the police officers' phones, tying the officers up inside the car. The other group took Curt Connors, who was sitting in a wheelchair, his expression vacant, seemingly indifferent to everything happening around him.
Following that, the thugs returned to their SUVs and sped away.
The police officers, having been spared their lives, were bound and gagged inside the car, unable to contact the outside world. They shivered in fear, their hands and feet tied.
Curt Connors was brought to a mansion on the outskirts of New York, where he encountered a person he couldn't believe.
This person's appearance was completely unexpected, causing a ripple of emotion in Connors's otherwise deadened eyes.
"Connors, I told you we'd meet again."
Norman Osborn opened his arms and embraced Curt Connors in his wheelchair, laughing heartily. "Limb Regeneration Technology is a historic breakthrough. Although there are still side effects, your research on life genes can be said to have taken a historic step."
"Norman, you…"
Connors seemed to have guessed something.
He widened his eyes, staring intently at the slender man before him.
"Excellent. I will continue to support your research, providing personnel, materials, and equipment, everything you need!"
Norman gave a definite answer.
He spoke decisively, his tone firm. "But, I have one condition. Human genetic defects are what I value most... You must guarantee that your research can not only regenerate limbs but also address human genetic defects, curing genetic diseases! Connors, this will be your new research focus!"
