Chapter 137 - Nick, You’re Not Going to Make This Hard for Me, Are You?

Green Arrow took the lead.

—He pressed the elevator button and stepped inside.

After all, with dozens of floors, running up would not only waste energy but also cost several minutes.

Inside the cramped elevator, four burly turtles squeezed in one after another, followed by Nick Fury and Coulson.

Even the seriously injured Hawkeye forced himself inside.

Natasha took one look at the situation, glanced at the adjacent elevator, and decided to wait with the other agents.

Shua shua shua!

The elevator rose quickly.

In the tight space, an awkward silence filled the air.

Everyone kept glancing at each other, unsure of what to say.

Fury's face was dark as ink, no one knew what he was thinking.

Ding!

At last, after what felt like an eternity, the elevator reached the top floor.

The doors slid open.

Hawkeye, slowed by his injuries, hadn't even taken a step before someone behind him—he didn't know who—kicked him right out of the elevator.

"Shit!"

He cursed as several powerful gusts of wind sliced past him.

Leading the charge was Green Arrow.

Behind him were four Ninja Turtles, weapons in hand, each step stirring the air.

Coulson rushed forward to help Hawkeye up.

Nick Fury stood beside them, scanning the surroundings.

Ignoring the remnants of the Foot Clan surging toward them, his gaze locked onto the heart of the room—the Mind Transmission Device, now filled to the brim with energy. His expression turned thoughtful.

At this point, shutting off the device was pointless.

What they needed to do now was continue supplying it with energy and then send the War Fortress back into space.

The War Fortress was a terrifying weapon—something that should never exist on Earth.

Fury had indeed considered the idea of taking control of it.But he knew better than anyone: A weapon this catastrophic must never fall into the hands of any human.

That would likely lead to a disaster rivaling, or even surpassing, an alien invasion.

Shua shua shua!

Suddenly, the sharp sound of something cutting through the air drew his attention.

Green Arrow charged forward, driving back Karai—the battered but still unyielding female ninja—with a precise arrow.

Then he fired another arrow, landing it right at Dr. Stockman's trembling feet.

"Stockman, if I see you move again, the next arrow won't land at your feet—it'll be in your heart."

Green Arrow's tone was calm, but the killing intent behind it was unmistakable.

After issuing the warning, Night Devil seized the moment and knocked Karai unconscious.

Then both men turned their attention toward Shredder, clad in full samurai armor.

Spider-Man was fighting Shredder blow for blow.

Though Shredder was slightly on the losing side, he was far from helpless.

The razor-sharp blades embedded in his arms, controlled by his magnetic system, could scatter like a rainstorm—cutting off Spidey's webs—before returning to his arms.

"Wait, I can handle him!"

Spider-Man noticed Green Arrow and Night Devil preparing to assist.Terrified that his teammates would steal his "graduation project," he immediately shouted:

"You guys go deal with the Mind Transmission Device—Shredder's mine!"

He conveniently ignored the four little turtles already itching to jump in.

"Little junior brother, we'll help you!"

"You're still too young. Let your elder brothers show you how to beat Shredder to clear the stage!"

"Graduate? You've got a long way to go!"

The turtles burst into laughter. With perfectly synchronized steps and battle formation, they flanked Spider-Man, ready to overwhelm Shredder.

"Shit!"

Spider-Man looked on helplessly as the four turtles rushed Shredder. He was on the verge of tears.

Shredder roared in fury.

These people were treating him like meat on a chopping block—ripe for slaughter.

Meanwhile.

Anton's Green Arrow clone withdrew his gaze.

By this point, victory was guaranteed—there was no chance for Shredder to turn the tide.

Their real concern was not the battlefield before them but the situation above—in and around the War Fortress.

Had Batman secured the Lighthouse?

And had Cyborg managed to keep Langer occupied?

Judging from his own perspective, Green Arrow's clone could confirm: both were doing well.

Everything was under control.

As he thought, he turned his gaze toward Stockman.

"Heh… heh…"

Stockman forced an awkward, submissive smile.

Face full of flattery, he said, "Whatever you need me to do—I'll do it!"

Knowing he couldn't escape and accepting his new role as a prisoner, Stockman had no intention of resisting. He was ready to follow orders.

And before his fate was decided, doing something to reduce his sentence was, of course, the natural thing to do.

Inside the War Fortress.

Anton received the Green Arrow clone's report and knew the battle over the Mind Transmission Device in the TCRI building below was nearing its end.

All that remained was for him and the Cyborg clone to finish their tasks and send the War Fortress back into space.

Whoosh!

Anton—currently Batman—did not slow down. In fact, he moved faster.

Outside.

Langer sensed the shift inside the Fortress. He gritted his teeth, hatred burning in his eyes as he glared at Cyborg, who had been delaying him.

Rumble!

He increased his weapon's energy output.

Countless energy rounds rained toward Cyborg like a storm.

But Cyborg remained calm.

His sonic barrier expanded, detonating the incoming blasts while also shielding New York from the shockwaves to protect the spectators below.

In a sense, these citizens were "precious crops."

In the shared vision of Anton and his Cyborg clone, Batman and Cyborg's fan values were skyrocketing at an unbelievable speed.

"It's time to say goodbye."

Cyborg stared at Langer. Under countless watching eyes, he clashed head-on with the humanoid mech.

What happened next left everyone watching utterly speechless—struck silent in shock.

Cyborg tore off the mech's arm with brute force.

At the same time, a point-blank energy cannon punched a hole straight through his chest.

"Cyborg! Hang in there!"

People clenched their fists, supporting Cyborg with all their spirit.

Some couldn't bear to watch, peeking through half-closed eyes—wanting to look, yet too scared.

But they didn't know:Though the wound looked terrifying, it barely affected Cyborg's combat ability.

Victor Stone had already been on the brink of death before becoming a cyborg.

Now, nearly all of his body—including his brain—was mechanized, the latter upgraded into a quantum computer.

Any physical damage was simply a matter of replacing parts.

And powered by the Mother Box's near-infinite energy, his operational capacity was rivaled by almost no one in the universe—and certainly unmatched on Earth.

Of course, one could not compare the Infinity Stones to a Mother Box.

Each had its own strengths—they were not comparable.

Still, within the Marvel universe, the Infinity Stones were undeniably the foundation.

Thus, a Mother Box was more akin to a high-end auxiliary tool—similar in nature to Thor's Stormbreaker.

Back to the moment—

Though Cyborg appeared grievously wounded, he had tricked Langer.

"Human, I'll tear you apart!"

Langer laughed, thinking victory was at hand, and swung the mech's remaining arm at Cyborg.

But he hadn't noticed Cyborg's chest had already mostly regenerated.

The mechanical memory metal had closed over the wound.

His stiffness vanished instantly.

Langer's mech charged straight into Cyborg's sonic cannon.

BOOM!!

The blast struck Langer head-on.

The mech and Langer were thrown skyward, then crashed hard onto a platform inside the War Fortress.

Cyborg soared after him.

The tide turned in an instant.

Every New Yorker watching stood frozen in shock—then burst into overwhelming joy.

"Cyborg won!"

"We won!!"

The crowd erupted in wild cheers.

At the TCRI building window—

Fury, Night Devil, Natasha, and the others finally exhaled in relief when they saw the scene.

Green Arrow's clone remained calm, expression unchanged.

As another clone of Anton, sharing a mind with Cyborg, he had expected this outcome. There was nothing surprising about it.

To Fury and the others, however, this was absolute trust between teammates.

They were amazed.

Within the Justice League, the most mysterious members were Batman, Cyborg, and Green Arrow.

There was a tacit understanding between those three that no one else could enter.

Roof of the building.

Tony Stark collapsed on the rooftop and removed his helmet.

Beside him stood Eddie Brock—currently Venom.

After hearing Tony call his name earlier, Eddie knew Tony had figured out Venom's identity. He wasn't surprised.

As the head of Stark Industries, Tony was a man at the very top of the world.

Stark Industries had once been a global arms giant capable of influencing the fate of small nations.

For someone like Tony, Venom's identity wasn't much of a secret.

After all, the Life Foundation incident had involved Oscorp personnel.

News had quietly circulated since then.

"Cyborg…"

Tony squinted at the sky, then turned to Eddie."So you're a member of the Justice League too?"

"Of course."

Eddie nodded proudly."I'm the first person Batman ever invited."

"Batman…"

Tony suddenly realized:

The one who nearly blew Langer away—the Cyborg—wasn't even one of the Justice League's main figures.

Everyone knew the true core of the Justice League was Batman.

And right now, Batman was still inside the War Fortress, attempting something crucial.

"It's not over yet."

Tony let out a sigh.

But for some reason, he didn't feel anxious.

It was as if—even if the invasion hadn't fully ended—the conclusion was already in sight.

And indeed, that was the truth.

The alien invasion was entering its final act.

Anton reached the location of the Lighthouse.

He stared at the small orb—small enough to fit in one hand—eyes deep and unreadable.

BOOM!

A thunderous crash sounded behind him.

Langer—blasted skyward by Cyborg—fell onto the platform inside the Fortress.

"Human! Stop!!"

Langer roared in fury.

Anton ignored him.

At the same moment, Cyborg entered the chamber and blocked Langer's line of sight, standing between him and Batman.

"Langer, the game's over. You lost."

As Cyborg spoke, Anton—as Batman—removed the orb's casing and plugged a USB-shaped device into its port.

Shua shua shua!

Data streams burst across Cyborg's mind.

Across from him, Langer sensed something terrible was about to happen and screamed in unwilling fury.

But before losing control, he issued one final, irreversible command to the War Fortress:

Initiate the escape program.

"Just wait!"

He was loaded into an escape pod, gnashing his teeth."Damn humans! I'll be back!"

"Back?"

Anton let the Lighthouse hover in the air.

Then he turned to Langer. His voice sounded calm, but the killing intent within it made Langer feel a fear he hadn't felt in a long time.

"You think you'll still be alive?"

As the escape pod entered the Fortress' launch tube, Anton fired his grappling line.

A moment later, as the pod was launched, Anton arrived outside it—staring at Langer through the glass.

"Damn it!"

Langer seemed to realize what was coming.

The next second—

The pod was fired skyward.

But its energy system had already been sabotaged.

As it shot into the clouds—intending to escape into deep space—it exploded.

Langer turned to ash.Not a bone remained. He didn't even get to leave behind last words.

Anton—still in his Batman armor—was carried upward by the blast, then began falling from the clouds.

Under the gaze of the entire world—

He landed safely atop his Batmobile.

The vehicle descended onto a building rooftop, where Batman stepped out and stood beside Eddie and Tony.

"It's over."

Tony stared blankly, dazed.

This event had shaken him deeply, making him realize the limits of his genius.

At least for now, the alien technology before him was beyond his ability to decipher.

If he could have cracked the Fortress's defenses earlier, he wouldn't have made such a fool of himself.

Whoosh!

Cyborg flew out of the War Fortress.

The Lighthouse had been sent through the interdimensional gate to the far side of the universe.

The War Fortress disassembled again, returning to its component modules.

Like a tide, the pieces followed the Lighthouse, returning through the swirling dark clouds to where they came from—vanishing from Earth.

Moments later—

The dark clouds broke apart.

The sky cleared.

Sunlight poured over New York as citizens finally let out a long breath—cheering like it was Christmas.

"Cyborg!"

"Batman!!"

Meanwhile.

Inside the TCRI building—

Shredder and the others had been captured. The incident was over.

It was time, apparently, to discuss spoils.

Green Arrow stood beside the Mind Transmission Device, watching Fury and the others eye it with solemn intensity.

"Batman said this thing can't be handed over to you."

Green Arrow's tone was firm—leaving no room for negotiation.

Then he looked Fury straight in the eyes.

"Nick, you're not going to make this hard for me, are you?"
