Under the cover of night, Lin Chen used a wall-passing technique, slammed straight into a wall, and vanished.
D'Addario: "What's going on?"
She ran over and touched the wall. "Hey, this is a stone wall. Isn't that strange?"
She also charged at it.
Boom! A hole appeared in the stone wall.
D'Addario rubbed her aching head, dumbfounded.
"You knocked down my wall? Pay up!" An old man rushed out, roaring.
"Pay?" D'Addario covered her face and ran.
The old man shouted again, "Damn it, who stole my flowers?!"
Lin Chen hummed a little tune, carrying red wine and flowers, and arrived at a two-story police villa. Using the wall-passing technique again, he entered.
D'Addario stared at the villa from not far away. "Why did he go in again? Wasn't he going to worship God?"
Before long, the bedroom light on the second floor turned on. Malena, wearing a black long suspender dress, opened the window and looked outside, as if checking whether anyone was watching.
D'Addario hurriedly hid behind a corner, heart pounding.
"Damn, he really is having an affair with this nun—food, wine, flowers!"
"Should I go tell Mela?"
"Forget it, I'll watch first."
Inside the house, Lin Chen smiled at Malena. "Dear nun, Brother Aniu missed you."
Malena rolled her eyes. "You think I didn't see? Who were those two women beside you this afternoon?"
"Mela, and that girl with the figure that makes me jealous, the one with special eyes—is she your new lover?"
"The person sent to monitor me is a demigod from the southern old gods—the daughter of Athena," Lin Chen waved his hand.
"Zeus's side? They're still alive? Haven't they disappeared for years?" Malena was startled.
"I don't know much yet, so I'm keeping her by my side to observe. Those old gods will show themselves eventually."
Malena rolled her eyes. "Hope you're not keeping a thief in your house."
Lin Chen smiled. "Worst case, I'll turn her against them."
"How? Like you did with me? The Holy See now lists you as the number one enemy target. Many people accuse me of having an affair with you."
Lin Chen pulled her into his arms, smiling. "That seems to be the truth. They're not slandering you."
"Hmph! They're deliberately smearing me. Ever since Paul's father became a cardinal, he's targeted me everywhere."
Lin Chen's eyes turned cold. "I'll find a chance to kill him, so he doesn't keep thinking about us."
"He's hiding in the Holy See headquarters. He won't come out."
Lin Chen rolled his eyes. "Then how about we stage a scene tomorrow?"
He whispered the plan in her ear.
"Is that okay? I'm afraid I'll hurt you."
"Hurt me? You know nothing about my power. Accept punishment, little nun!"
"Ah, Your Majesty, spare me!"
The two laughed late into the night. Hours later, Lin Chen quietly left.
D'Addario, the undercover agent outside, was nearly frozen stiff. She stretched her muscles. "Damn, that took forever!"
They returned to the hotel one after another.
Mela was still asleep. Lin Chen quietly lay down.
Aquaman couldn't sleep. He wanted to chat with D'Addario but found she wasn't in her room.
When he finally realized, Lin Chen and D'Addario had already returned one after the other.
"What are these two doing?!"
"No… God is so unfair to me!"
The next morning, the four met in the hotel lobby. D'Addario had dark circles under her eyes.
Lin Chen smiled meaningfully. "Miss, you were being a thief last night, even sneaking into corners."
Aquaman also had dark circles. "I heard from hotel staff that a very capable girl knocked down an old man's wall and stole his flowers."
Lin Chen smiled at D'Addario. "That girl lacks morals. What if the old man had been bathing?"
D'Addario forced a laugh, while frantically complaining in her heart about Lin Chen.
"It's all because of you, you stinky Daoist, going on a midnight tryst!"
"I thought there was some big secret, but…"
"I don't want to think about it, or my face will turn red."
Lin Chen wrapped an arm around Mela's waist. "Alright, let's go to the old castle on the mountain. There should be gains there."
Mela looked at him strangely. "You know everything already. You investigated beforehand."
"Actually, while you were asleep, I did some research in the city. It wasn't easy to find."
"Pfft!" D'Addario, drinking water, sprayed it out.
Her understanding of Lin Chen's shamelessness rose to another level.
The four arrived at the seaside section of the castle, where several statues stood.
Aquaman looked around. "Which statue shows the true king?"
Mela's surprised voice sounded. "Master, you're amazing! How did you know to put the bottle in this statue's hand?"
Lin Chen shrugged. "Like I said, I did a lot of homework last night."
"Master, you're awesome." Mela hugged him, whistling.
D'Addario rolled her eyes but looked closer. "Hey, it really points to one side."
Aquaman felt depressed—his chance to show off his IQ was gone.
He leaned over, trying to get close to D'Addario, but she dodged.
Aquaman felt lonely, wanting to ask where she went last night but afraid of the answer.
Bang! Lin Chen kicked Aquaman away before he could complain.
Beep! A red laser shot over, and the king statue exploded.
Lin Chen had already pulled the two girls back over ten meters.
D'Addario stared at the hand Lin Chen held. Is he protecting me?
A man in red, insect-like battle armor flew up. The earlier laser had come from his red eyes.
Several red-armored warriors followed.
Lin Chen recognized him—Black Manta, who had a grudge against Aquaman.
Aquaman grew angry. "Who are you? Why attack us?"
Black Manta's red eyes glared. "Remember the pirate you killed in the submarine? I'm here for revenge!"
"When pirates get themselves killed and you blame Arthur for not saving your father, your worldview is really something," Lin Chen sighed.
Aquaman nodded. The Daoist was absolutely right.
Black Manta glared at Lin Chen. "You're going to die. King Orm paid a high price!"
Lin Chen shook his head. "I can beat King Orm anytime. You came here to die? Your IQ isn't high."
"Looking for death!" Black Manta fired a laser after charging, blasting Aquaman away.
Aquaman: Damn, so sneaky!
Black Manta looked at Lin Chen. "Your turn!"
Bang! A boulder suddenly flew up, smashing Black Manta into the air.
Several armored warriors surrounded Mela. "Princess Mela, you are convicted. Resist, and we'll kill you on the spot!"
Bang! Mela kicked the speaker flying, then knocked several others down.
"Did I learn Xingyiquan and Tan-leg for nothing?" She clapped her hands, face shy.
An armored warrior hiding behind a rock raised a laser gun.
Bang! D'Addario kicked him over ten meters away with great force.
She looked smug—but when she saw Lin Chen watching with a half-smile, she instantly acted delicate.
"Oh… my leg hurts so much…"
