Chapter 278: Core Cell
The Kalos region is shaped like a pentagram, with Lumiose City at its center. It is divided into three areas: the northwest coast, the central region, and the northeastern mountains.
The central region, located in the central and southern parts of Kalos, is covered by vast forests and numerous rivers. Some towns are surrounded by ancient walls, and many castles stand here, such as the Palace of Parfum.
The coastal region lies along the western coastline, consisting of a narrow strip of land between mountains and the sea. The mountainous region is located in the northeast, surrounded by mountains and experiencing low temperatures; some areas are covered in snow, and the north contains a supposedly haunted swamp. Additionally, there is a desert to the north and snowfields to the east, with rivers flowing through the entire region, surrounded by mountains.
A plane flying from the Sinnoh region to the Kalos region slowly landed at the airport in Santalune City. The cabin door slowly opened, and Ryan and Lillie stepped off the plane. Taking a deep breath of air, Ryan remarked, "The Kalos region is indeed slightly warmer than Sinnoh; even the air is filled with the fragrance of flowers."
Lillie nodded, saying, "There's no way around it; Sinnoh is located on the northernmost continent, so the temperature is naturally a bit lower. But it's quite remarkable that they were able to capture Zygarde's Core in the city."
Ryan and Lillie walked out of the airport and strolled through the streets of Santalune City. A unique charm caught their eye, an elegant and graceful atmosphere that captivated them.
Santalune City was an old-fashioned city, full of European flair. Beige and khaki striped floor tiles and walls built in the same color scheme surrounded the entire city. Pink roses clustered among lush bushes, sparsely adorned with dark green pointed roofs, European-style retro streetlights, the Trainer's School, and the fountain in the city center, creating an elegant and graceful atmosphere that seemed to emerge from the gentle breezes of Kalos.
They found a roadside café, ordered two cups of café au lait, and savored the exotic ambiance while enjoying the beautiful scenery.
Just as Ryan and Lillie were leisurely sipping their coffee, two figures came running from afar. Silver and Yellow were rushing towards them, followed by a beautiful woman riding a Gogoat.
As Silver ran, panting, he said, "Beautiful lady, can you please let us go? We're really not bad people! We were just ordered by our boss to come and pick up this little guy. You saw it for yourself, we've taken excellent care of it, feeding it the best and giving it the best water. We didn't mean to mistreat it at all!"
"Who knows what your intentions are! Besides, you claim to be from the Mercenary Guild, so why don't you catch it properly? Why put it in a device like this?" The beautiful woman riding Gogoat looked at him with a skeptical expression, not believing a single word Silver said.
"If you keep chasing us, we won't be polite! Naganadel, Venom Drench!" Yellow was also getting impatient from being chased and directly sent out her shiny Naganadel.
As soon as Naganadel appeared, it spun rapidly with its head down, then sprayed a large amount of purple venom onto the ground from its stinger. The woman on Gogoat hesitated when she saw the venom on the ground, but still stepped on it. But trouble struck the moment they stepped on it. The peculiar sticky venom of Naganadel was like glue; even a behemoth like Guzzlord couldn't escape it, let alone Gogoat.
The moment Gogoat's front hoof stepped on it, it couldn't lift it at all. Using its momentum, it flipped over, throwing the beautiful woman on its back flying.
"Ah!"
A shrill scream drew Ryan and Lillie's attention. The two stared speechlessly at the mess Silver and Yellow had made. Ryan sighed, his Psychic surging wildly from his mind. An invisible wave caught the beautiful woman, placing her safely on the ground. Her Gogoat, however, fared much worse. Its front hooves were stuck to the venom, then it did a backflip, its back slamming hard into the venom, leaving the entire Gogoat completely bewildered.
But things got even worse. The venom of Yellow's shiny Naganadel was incredibly potent; even the Venom Drench successfully poisoned Gogoat. The Gogoat, unable to move, could only struggle and endure the poison.
"Look what you've done. Go apologize to her, and Yellow, quickly deal with the venom, or it'll harm others."
Ryan's calm voice reached Silver and Yellow's ears. The two turned to look at Ryan and Lillie approaching them, saying apologetically, "Sorry, boss, Lillie. We'll handle it right away. Also, this is the Core, entrusted to you, boss. This little guy has given me a hard time these past few days."
With that, Yellow went to deal with the venom, while Silver quickly handed a sealed sphere to Ryan. Ryan took the sphere and held it up to his eyes. Through the transparent glass, a green, flatworm-like Pokémon glared at him with some resentment.
With a smile, Ryan opened the sealed sphere. Seeing an opportunity to escape, the Core immediately jumped out, trying to leave. However, although it jumped out, its body stopped in mid-air. The Core immediately realized that the man before it was controlling it with Psychic, preventing its escape.
Ryan walked over, stroked its soft body, and then said, "Little guy, this is our first meeting. Let me introduce myself. My name is Ryan, and I'm a trainer. I asked my subordinates to find you and contain you, hoping to capture you. I know you're a little unconvinced, but I'm serious. My subordinates have found quite a few of your Cells; it should be enough to transform you into your Complete Forme. Fight me. If you win, I'll let you go; if you lose, you'll become my Pokémon. How about it?"
The Core's large eye hesitated as it looked at Ryan, and the blue spot on its body glowed slightly. Ryan didn't disturb it, letting it make its own decision.
"Excuse me, are you Ryan, the president of the Mercenary Guild?"
A slightly excited voice rang out. The beautiful woman Ryan had rescued approached, already wearing her portable interviewing equipment, shaped like a headset with a small camera on one side and a microphone on the other. She smiled slightly and said, "Hello, I'm Alexa, a reporter from Lumiose City, and also Viola's older sister. May I interview you?"
