Mi Rae could hardly wrap her head around the fact that she was the one behind the wheel. Raven had settled back in the passenger seat, his eyes shut, one hand resting lazily on his lap, seemingly unfazed by the nightmare he had just put her through.
The silence was palpable, punctuated only by the gentle hum of the engine and Raven's occasional sigh.
She was drained. Her hands shook on the steering wheel, her throat felt dry. The address he had told her to enter blinked on the screen and surprisingly, it was close to her new apartment for work.
Of course it was. It seemed like the universe just enjoyed messing with her.
When they finally arrived, Raven opened his eyes and said flatly, "Come upstairs. I need something to eat. Quick prep."
Mi Rae blinked in disbelief. "Excuse me?"
"I'm too tired to move. You can have your phone back afterward."
Her mouth dropped open. "You can't be serious—"
"If you really want it back, follow me," he said, already getting out of the car.
