Chapter 192 - Chapter 192 Sun Chaser

Gale appointed Salador because he noticed him and Luna exchanging glances.

In Gale's strategic planning, Smaug absolutely had to remain in Gale's Tower. Gale's Tower was located on a high mountain, and with a Dragon guarding it, it would become peaceful.

Sethonis was a scholar, not highly talented in combat. Therefore, no matter how fierce the previous war was, Gale never transferred him from Gale's Tower.

In this situation, only Luna, the powerful "Beastmaster" hunter, could reassure Gale.

Coincidentally, Salador was a talented commander, perfect for leading the navy and helping Antaria defend Vashj'ir.

The Dragon Legion also expressed concern about Arcane. Gale presented the theory that energy is just energy, which was acknowledged by the Dragons. However, to prevent a recurrence of the events involving Azshara and Deathwing, Alexstrasza decided to exchange envoys with Gale to stay informed of each other's movements.

Considering the Arcane, the Dragon Legion chose a Blue Dragon named Aethas Sunreaver to remain in Nordrassil.

Gale also sent his cousin Rielly to Dragonblight, to depart with the Dragons.

The exchange of envoys was a good thing, proving that the Dragon Legion regarded the Kaldorei as an equal power for communication. In the future, Gale would also exchange envoys with other allied races to understand their movements, facilitating unified planning.

The design of the large ships was quickly completed.

The existence of magic made shipbuilding very simple. There was no need for careful selection; by simply laying wood together and connecting it with nature spells, a keel that would normally take years to build in the regular world could be obtained. Similarly, the hull could be constructed in the same way.

As for protective measures like dehydration, pest control, and resistance to seawater erosion, these could also be solved with spells.

Gale designed a magical propulsion system that allowed ships to sail using magical power. If Nordrassil hadn't lacked magical materials, Gale would have directly built spaceships.

Spaceships would definitely be built in the future to develop an air force. Building them now would skip the intermediate process. Imagine other races still developing infantry while the Kaldorei directly deployed an air force—it would be a dimensionality reduction strike.

Gale was a bit regretful that he couldn't achieve it in one step. However, such massive warships were still a dimensionality reduction strike against other races, and currently, they were sufficient.

Gale led Salador onto the warship under construction, pointing at the ballistas being installed.

"Naval combat is different from land combat. You must first protect your ship, and then kill the enemy. These ballistas have a wide firing angle; they can shoot at both sides of the ship up close, thousands of yards away at a distance, and at enemies on the ship's deck from above. If you can use these ballistas flexibly, you can kill most enemies."

Salador walked up to an installed ballista, tried operating it, and nodded in approval. These ballistas were mounted on platform pillars extending beyond the large ship, with the front part of the ballista being long and the back part short. This allowed the ballista to rotate freely around the pillar, moving up and down, capable of attacking in all directions except directly below the platform and the ship's bottom.

Salador had witnessed the power of the ballista; it could even shoot down a Dragon. In this world, there were certainly enemies stronger than Dragons, but definitely not many.

And if he encountered such enemies, he still had his Sunstreak Bow!

If even the Sunstreak Bow couldn't handle it, then that enemy was beyond his capabilities.

In such a situation, running away was the only option.

Gale: "Next, small Mage Towers will be installed on the ship. I will assign three mages to each Mage Tower. They will help you with maritime reconnaissance and detect enemy situations in advance. I will assign one Druid to each ship, and they will communicate with marine creatures to prevent threats from under the sea."

Salador exclaimed, "Your Majesty, you are truly thoughtful."

Gale smiled, "If you encounter an enemy you cannot defeat and cannot retreat, activate the positioning crystal in the Mage Tower, and I will rush to support you immediately."

The positioning crystal was a new invention by Gale, connected to the eternal spear. As soon as the positioning crystal was activated, as long as it wasn't a place where teleportation was impossible, Gale would know immediately and then use the Rainbow Bridge to teleport there.

This would provide the maximum possible protection for the navy sailing at sea. Even if they encountered an enemy that Gale couldn't defeat, Gale could still teleport away with everyone on board.

Salador opened his mouth; this level of protection was too strong, wasn't it? It made him feel like an immature child.

Gale saw through his thoughts, "This ship still has many flaws. Once it's improved in the future, you won't have the opportunity to use the positioning crystal."

"It's already perfect!" Salador said.

Gale shook his head, "It's still missing something."

Salador was speechless. Not being satisfied after building such a ship, he wondered what kind of monster Gale intended to build.

Gale watched as the cranes continuously installed various parts onto the ship, feeling a bit regretful. There was still a lack of technological accumulation; otherwise, he would surely have come up with weapons that could attack underwater enemies.

There were many existing naval weapons that could be referenced; torpedoes and depth charges could both attack underwater enemies. However, these two weapons were relatively dangerous; once installed, they could easily be damaged by underwater creatures or even detonate prematurely. If that happened, the navy would suffer.

At this stage, they could only rely on the spells of mages and druids to ensure safety below the ship. However, considering the power of marine creatures, Gale specifically designed watertight compartments. The watertight compartments on the outer perimeter of the hull, close to the deck, were all sealed and kept empty, to prevent massive losses if the deck were breached.

He would rather sacrifice some carrying capacity to ensure the safety of the ship.

He patted Salador's shoulder: "This ship is your flagship. Think of a name for it!"

Salador didn't even think, "Let's call it the Sunstrider!"

Gale didn't object, "This ship can accommodate over a thousand people and requires at least a hundred soldiers to manage. The magical propulsion system requires a lot of Arcane Energy, needing at least twenty mages to charge it simultaneously, so about forty mages would be needed for two shifts. You can recruit these people yourself, just give me a list when you're done."

Salador nodded. Soldiers were easy; his former subordinates would surely be willing to transfer to the navy with him. However, considering there were only eighty ballistas on the ship, he only wanted to bring eighty Sentry Shooters. The remaining soldiers could be recruited from refugees, and he planned to recruit more than twenty, aiming for a hundred additional people to train and expand to other ships in a few years.

As for mages, he didn't know many. But he quickly thought of a way to recruit mages: the Moon Guard.
