Jonathan had heard what that girl had told him; it only took a bit of investigation to find out that numerous truckers had disappeared along the same route and so far there had been no inquiry.
The border with Mexico connects to Texas; Jonathan was nearly out of Texas, so if he wanted to reach the location before dusk or midnight he had to begin the trip as soon as possible—and that is what he did.
Although travel time could vary depending on the type of helicopter used and specific flight conditions. Many military helicopters have higher cruising speeds than commercial helicopters, with some reaching speeds of up to 350 kilometers per hour or more.
Assuming an average speed of about 300 kilometers per hour, being at Enchanted Rock State Park was too far from the area where the investigation was supposed to begin.
"Is the information reliable?"
"Hundreds of people missing, numerous truck drivers lost on that route, and it always happens at midnight."
"Vampires…"
"Indeed, if it's a vampire nest, wouldn't it be easier to just bomb the place?" Wednesday was looking at the location information where people apparently might be disappearing.
Jonathan shook his head and explained, "We don't have the exact location; it's best to use a hand grenade to eliminate whatever remains of that place once we begin the cleanup."
But at that moment, halfway through the flight to Texas, Father Doug, who was in the helicopter, asked, "Sorry to interrupt, but what am I doing here?"
"Didn't I tell you to stay on the reserve team?" Jonathan looked at Wednesday with a serious expression.
A little confused, Wednesday murmured, "I thought you wanted us to bring him; you never mentioned anything, but he didn't complain either."
"I had a bad headache—how was I supposed to know where you were taking me?" Father Doug said as he ate an energy bar.
Everything had happened very quickly: the helicopter arrived and everyone got on, even Father Doug was taken because he had been handed some suitcases.
When he boarded the helicopter he fell asleep and woke up only after a few hours.
Realizing they were on a mission, he asked why he was in the helicopter; Jonathan hadn't noticed because he had been on important calls arranging what was required for this mission.
"Well, it doesn't matter—your help will be very useful."
"Zz… Fifteen minutes to arrival."
When Jonathan heard this he nodded and shouted, "Alright, this mission is simple: we're going to a vampire nest that poses as ordinary canteen workers for truckers. The mission is simple: go, drink, and kill."
"Understood."
"They're smart; they don't attack anyone who isn't a trucker so as not to draw too much attention in the news. But now that we've discovered them, we'll go in two groups and infiltrate for the elimination at midnight."
"Now vampires…" Father Doug murmured, quite tired.
