"DXD: Transfer Student"Chapter 175: I Won't Hand My Daughters Over to You

The room fell silent.

No one had expected Draconis to drop a bombshell like that—not only did he have someone he liked, he had several.

So what did their feelings even mean now?

Confusion rippled through the sisters, emotions tangled and uneasy.

Draconis had always been blunt, laying out the hardest truths—just like he'd done with Mai Sakurajima. He never sugarcoated the reality of his world.

As everyone struggled to process, the front door swung open.

A middle-aged man in a sharp suit stood in the entryway, the same driver who took the quintuplets to school trailing behind him.

The sisters froze.

"Dad?" they called out in unison.

Draconis locked eyes with the man.

So this was their father…

From what Draconis knew, the quintuplets' biological father wasn't this man. Their mother had raised them alone for years before marrying a doctor—Nakano Maruo, the man now standing before him.

To accept five daughters as his own, this stepfather was more than decent.

"Do we have a guest?" Maruo entered, expression stern, radiating an air of authority.

Draconis rose politely. "Sorry to intrude. I'm Draconis."

"Draconis, yes—I've heard of you." Maruo's tone was cool. "My daughters have been in your care recently."

The sisters exchanged nervous glances.

They all knew their father's strict reputation—he could intimidate people without trying, and rarely seemed approachable.

"Uh, Dad, what brings you home at this hour?" Ichika hurried to greet him, forcing a smile.

"Today's the day midterm results came out. I haven't forgotten that much."

Maruo's gaze swept over the stack of test papers on the table.

"Oh? All passing grades. That's… unexpected."

"Y-yeah! Draconis has been tutoring us!" Yotsuba piped up, sensing her father's chilly attitude toward their guest.

"Is that so? Then we owe you our thanks."

Maruo's eyes appraised Draconis from head to toe.

Draconis met his gaze without flinching—calm, collected, nothing like a typical seventeen-year-old.

Maruo's eyebrows rose slightly. He'd known about Draconis for some time—the driver kept him informed about everything that happened around his daughters.

Now, seeing the boy in person, he understood why his daughters had changed so much.

"Draconis, come with me. Let's talk about my daughters' progress."

He gestured toward the study.

Draconis smiled, unruffled, and followed him in.

Maruo sat, his presence filling the room.

"I was planning to hire a tutor for them," he began, "but you showed up first. I should pay you for your time."

"They're my friends. Helping them didn't feel like work, Mr. Nakano. No need for payment."

"Just friends?" Maruo's gaze sharpened, a hint of pressure behind his words.

Draconis smiled lightly, unfazed. "Yes. I enjoy spending time with them."

Maybe the old man had picked up on something—Miku's behavior, for example, was hard to miss.

She'd never cared about cooking before, but now she practiced constantly. Anyone paying attention could guess the reason.

Maruo studied Draconis, then spoke slowly:

"I'm pleased with my daughters' improvement. I owe you thanks for that."

"If I may, Mr. Nakano," Draconis interjected gently.

"Go ahead."

"You should spend more time with your daughters." Draconis's tone was calm, but the words landed with weight. "If I'm not mistaken, this is your first time home this month."

Maruo fell silent.

This kid…

He even knows how often I come home?

Just how many times has he been here?

"I'll adjust my work schedule," Maruo replied, conceding the point.

"In that case, I'll take my leave. It's getting late." Draconis stood, offering a polite farewell.

"I'll have my driver take you."

"No need—I biked here." Draconis answered smoothly.

"Then I won't see you out."

As Draconis reached the door, Maruo's voice stopped him—low and cold.

"Draconis, I won't hand my daughters over to you."

Draconis turned, catching the father's icy, jealous glare.

Of course—the first to sense danger was always the dad, when his daughters were at risk of being "stolen."

Draconis couldn't help but laugh. "Then you'd better keep a close eye, Mr. Nakano. Plenty of suitors are after your five princesses."

With that, he slipped out the door, a faint smile lingering.

Back in the living room, he found all five sisters sprawled on the sofa, visibly flustered.

A single slipper lay by the study door—Miku's, no doubt.

They'd been eavesdropping.

Draconis picked up the slipper and knelt beside Miku, who was sitting in black stockings, one foot bare. He placed the slipper gently at her toes.

Miku's cheeks were crimson—adorable.

"I'm heading out. With your current grades, graduation shouldn't be a problem. Strictly speaking, the commission is complete."

Draconis smiled softly, bidding the quintuplets farewell.

They stared, bewildered.

"You're… not coming back anymore?"

"Did Dad say something to you? Ugh, I'll go talk to him!" Nino huffed, charging toward the study.

"It's not that." Draconis caught her arm. "I told you—the commission's finished. What happens next is up to you."

With that, he activated his teleportation and vanished.

Watching him disappear, the sisters felt a sudden emptiness.

"Why… why did he just leave? Was it something I said?" Nino murmured, lost.

"It's not that," Ichika said softly, hugging Nino close.

"He gave us a choice."

Ichika understood Draconis perfectly, her voice gentle:

"Before, we were together because of his commission. Now, it's our decision—do we keep reaching out, get to know him for real, or let things end here?"

As she spoke, she pulled out a special flyer—a devil's summoning circle.
