Chapter 180 - Chapter 29: Anteiku

"Those newcomers in the Hephaestus Familia," Loki said, narrowing her eyes. "That was your doing, wasn't it?"

Emiya paused.

"You mean the Demon Slayers?"

"Yeah. Those people from the Far East."

"...Yeah. That was me."

"Damn it!" Loki grabbed Emiya by the collar again, shaking him hard. "Are you in the Hephaestus Familia or the Loki Familia? Why did you give something that good to Hephaestus?!"

Emiya hurriedly pushed her hands away, smiling helplessly.

"It's only a few people. What's the big deal?"

"They're all top-tier prospects!" Loki snapped, her face full of envy and resentment.

"How good?" Emiya asked. "Better than Ais and Riveria?"

Loki answered without hesitation.

"My Ais is the best in the world!"

Emiya rolled his eyes.

"Then there's your answer."

Even so, Loki still looked dissatisfied.

"Their potential is ridiculous. If they're given time, they'll definitely become top-tier adventurers."

"I won't deny that," Emiya admitted.

The members of the Demon Slayer Corps-especially the Hashira-were undeniably talented.

Anyone who could reach that level as an ordinary human would naturally become exceptional after receiving a divine blessing.

Given time, they would all reach the top tier.

And in Orario, top-tier adventurers were rare.

Even the Loki Familia only had a handful.

Loki clenched her teeth.

"What really pisses me off is this-Hephaestus only wanted the swordsmiths. Why did you shove the Demon Slayers onto her too? Couldn't you have given them to me?"

Emiya blinked.

"Hephaestus told you that?"

Then he noticed Loki's awkward expression and immediately understood.

"...You sent someone to pry information out of them, didn't you?"

Loki coughed and abruptly changed the topic.

"So why are you here today?"

"That was a bit sudden," Emiya complained. "If you've got nothing else to say, I'm leaving."

"Don't." Emiya grabbed her wrist before she could move. "Don't go yet."

"I came to update my status."

Loki didn't refuse.

"Come to my room."

"Alright."

Emiya followed her.

He took off his shirt, lay down on the sofa, and let Loki update his status.

"...What the hell," Loki muttered.

After seeing the results, she stared in disbelief.

"You're leveling way too fast."

All five of Emiya's basic stats had skyrocketed.

They had broken through the 999 limit and entered a completely new tier.

Super S.

Only a handful of people in all of Orario had reached that level.

"Alright," Loki said after finishing. "Status updated."

"You're officially a Level 3 adventurer now."

She patted Emiya on the shoulder.

"Thanks."

Emiya stood up and stretched.

He already knew the reason.

The Dragon of Greed had absorbed massive amounts of life force.

His Nen had grown rapidly, and his body had followed.

That was why his level rose so quickly.

If this continued, Level 4 or even Level 5 wouldn't be far off.

If that news got out, Orario would explode.

But Loki wouldn't spread it.

She looked at him.

"What now? Staying a few days? Going dungeon diving with everyone?"

Emiya shook his head.

"No. I'm going to explore a new world."

Loki clicked her tongue.

She couldn't stop him.

"Fine. But next time you meet someone talented, remember to bring them to our Familia."

"I will," Emiya replied, nodding.

After that, he left the Loki Familia.

With everything settled, Emiya rested for a day.

On the morning of the third day, he set off again.

As usual, he prepared thoroughly.

Nen aura as the first layer.

Gyo as the second.

Armament Haki ready at any moment.

Even if he ran into something like Lucrezia Zola again, he could escape.

Whoosh.

He activated his ability.

The next second, Emiya appeared inside a coffee shop.

Customers stared at him in shock.

Emiya remained calm.

He was already used to this.

Next time, he might appear in front of a crowd.

Clap. Clap. Clap.

Applause came from behind the counter.

An elderly man-likely the manager-was clapping with a smile.

"That was a beautiful magic trick," he said. "How did you do it?"

The customers relaxed.

If it was a magic trick, that explained it.

They began clapping as well.

Emiya looked at the manager with interest.

He knew it wasn't magic.

And he suspected the manager knew that too.

This was just damage control.

Most people bought it.

A few still looked puzzled.

Emiya had planned to leave.

But seeing the manager's reaction, he changed his mind.

"The secret is what makes a magic trick a magic trick."

The manager nodded.

"My apologies."

Emiya took an empty seat.

"I'll have a coffee."

"What would you like?"

"A latte."

A moment later, a girl with shoulder-length hair stepped over.

Her long fringe covered her right eye.

She placed the cup down.

"Here you go."

"Thanks."

Emiya looked at her.

She felt familiar.

She turned to leave.

"Wait."

She stopped and turned back cautiously.

"Yes?"

"...Can I ask your name?"

Her expression showed clear reluctance.

Emiya noticed and didn't push.

"Then can you tell me the name of this café?"

"...Anteiku."

Emiya nodded.

"So it really is Anteiku."

He muttered quietly, "I've been running into cannibals a lot lately."

He had just left the Demon Slayer world.

Now this.

Demons and ghouls.

Different worlds.

Same habit.

Fate was strange.

His voice was low.

But not low enough.

The girl froze.

She rushed forward and grabbed Emiya by the collar.

"What do you know?"

"Calm down," Emiya said. "I'm not here to hurt you."

"I heard what you said," she snapped. "What do you know?!"

Her thoughts raced.

If her last bit of reason hadn't reminded her there were humans around, her kakugan would have already appeared.

Emiya sighed.

He grabbed her wrist and applied gentle pressure.

She gasped and released him.

She could feel it.

If she hadn't let go, her wrist would have been crushed.

How could a human be this strong?

Emiya released her as well.

He adjusted his clothes.

"This was just a slip, Ms. Touka Kirishima."

Her heart dropped.

He knew.

Not just Anteiku.

Her name.

Which meant-

The manager walked over, smiling calmly.

"Mister Magician," he said evenly, "if you keep harassing our staff, you're going to cause trouble for us."

The customers immediately looked at Emiya with disdain.

The manager placed a hand on Touka's shoulder.

"Go upstairs. I'll handle this."

Touka nodded.

Before leaving, she whispered, "Be careful. He might know about us."

The manager's heart tightened.

But his smile never changed.
