Chapter 55 - Chapter 55

Naynah's POV

I had just woken up from a useless nightmare, and before I could even catch my breath, my phone started ringing. I grabbed it and saw my mother's name on the screen. I answered the call.

Naynah: Hello.

Naylinah: Come back here immediately, young lady. Is that clear?

She hung up before I could even reply to her Alpha-like command. What a woman… And I already knew exactly what had triggered her anger: the rumors that I was with Kemran. Which isn't completely false, but I am definitely not pregnant with his child, for f***'s sake. Who the hell spread that nonsense? Whoever it is, once I find them, I'll kill them with my own hands. Forcing myself out of bed, I heard my phone ring again. It was Aron.

Naynah: Good morning.

Aron: Morning. Are you okay?

Naynah: More or less.

Aron: Did your mother call?

Naynah: Yes, and she ordered me to come back.

Aron: I'm coming with you.

Naynah: But…

Aron: No buts. I'll come with you, Nayn. I won't let you face this alone. I'll pack my things and pick you up.

Naynah: Alright then.

Aron: See you soon. I love you.

Naynah: I love you too.

He hung up. Aron had been my biggest support these past few months. He knew about Kemran and the alliance, and I even told him why that alliance ended. He understood completely. We've been together for a few months now, we've bonded and marked each other. I love him so much. We were living a beautiful love story, until those cursed rumors resurfaced—twisting my past with Kemran and Athènia, and adding a disgusting lie that I was pregnant with Kemran's child. Seriously, Kemran? If I were pregnant, it would be Aron's, because when I was in heat, he was the one who satisfied me. Those five intense days we spent together… oh God.

{Ava: Hey, calm down, stupid, and start packing before the pack's warriors come knocking at our door.}

Naynah: Buzzkill. As if you don't like being with Benson.

{Ava: Blah blah blah, mind your own business.}

Naynah: Hahaha.

I went to the bathroom for a quick shower, then came back and started packing.

{Ava: A shower at such a critical time?}

Naynah: Mind your fur.

I felt her retreat sulkily into a corner. Ha, yeah, hide all you want. I finished packing my suitcase, then booked a private jet for 7 a.m.—because yes, my mother had called at 6, and now it was 5. I knew that if I didn't arrive before sunset, I'd be in serious trouble. A knock came at my door. I opened it and smiled at who stood there.

Naynah: Aron.

Aron: Hi, my love.

He leaned in and kissed me on the lips. What a blissful feeling. When he pulled away, I was certain my face was crimson.

Aron: You're so cute when you blush.

I blushed even more.

Naynah: You were serious about coming with me.

Aron: Of course. I won't let you face your mother alone. I'll be by your side.

Naynah: Oooh, thank you.

I hugged him, and he kissed the top of my head, wrapping his arms around me.

Aron: So, is your suitcase ready?

Naynah: Yes.

Aron: Then let's go.

I smiled, and he grabbed my suitcase as we stepped out of the apartment. James was standing at my door.

James: Alpha.

He bowed slightly in respect.

Naynah: I'm not Alpha yet.

James: But you will be.

Naynah: I wouldn't be so sure. My mother might disown me because of these rumors.

James: No matter the mistakes you make, you're still the only heir of Silver Moon. Good luck, but I know that no matter what happens, you'll be the Alpha of Silver Moon.

Naynah: Thank you, James.

I handed him the apartment keys. Aron and I entered the elevator.

Aron: Do you need me to book a plane ticket?

Naynah: No, I already booked a jet.

Aron: Then I'll pay for it.

Naynah: But—

Aron: What did I say about "buts"?

Naynah: …Okay.

We arrived downstairs. Aron carried my suitcase as we headed to the exit. Suddenly, we overheard voices. I glanced to the side and saw three girls in sportswear, probably after a morning jog.

Girl 1: Who does she think she is?

Girl 2: That girl has no shame walking around like this.

Girl 3: It's not like she hasn't done worse.

Girl 2: Imagine, she's pregnant by another man, and just months later she already has someone else at her feet.

Girl 1: She's not even that pretty.

Girl 2: I wonder what Kemran ever saw in her. She's nothing compared to Evera.

Girl 3: Just a good time for Kemran.

They started laughing. I could feel Aron about to lash out, but I stopped him.

Aron: Stop talking nonsense about my fiancée.

Girl 2: Wow, another guy already? Hey handsome, you should be with me instead of that we.

Naynah: You know what? This we says go f*** yourself.

I walked away, hearing their laughter.

Girl 3: The truth hurts.

Aron: At least she doesn't sell her body like you three do, calling her a w***e when you're worse—nothing but sluts.

Their laughter stopped immediately. I smirked, and Aron loaded my suitcase into his car. We got in.

Aron: Hey, are you okay?

Naynah: Don't worry. That kind of thing stopped intimidating me a long time ago.

Aron: Then let's hit the road.

The trip went smoothly. After a few hours, we were back at Silver Moon. I inhaled deeply—the air here, I had missed it. Normally, I'd be excited to return, but the one person I wanted to see, my aunt, wasn't here. As we drove through the city, I could feel the stares of the wolves.

Aron: Are they always like this?

He whispered.

Naynah: Yes, especially when I pass by.

That made him laugh. We arrived at the pack house. Be strong, Nayn—it's not like they're going to kill you. We went inside and saw the hall decorated. Stella, one of the omegas, approached and bowed.

Stella: Welcome back, future Alpha. The Alpha asked me to tell you to meet her in her office.

Naynah: Alright, you can go.

She bowed again and left. I turned to Aron.

Naynah: You should wait here. My mother isn't very calm when she's angry.

Aron: Alright.

I took a deep breath before entering. I knocked, opened the door, and stepped inside.

Naynah: Mother.

Her response was a slap so loud that I was sure the entire house heard it—even without wolf hearing.

Naylinah: EXPLAIN THIS DISASTER TO ME!

Naynah: Mother—

Naylinah: IS IT TRUE OR NOT?

I sighed before replying.

Naynah: It's true. I was with him because he's my mate…

Naylinah: Then why the hell didn't you reject him?!

Naynah: Ava wouldn't let me.

Naylinah: Who is Ava?

Naynah: My… wolf.

She stared at me, visibly shocked.

Naylinah: You'd better explain yourself, young lady!

I knew I had no choice. If I didn't tell her the truth, she'd find another way to discover it, and I didn't want her hearing from someone else that I had formed an alliance with our enemies. The thought of explaining it already made me groan, but what could I do? She wanted an explanation—so I would give her one.
