"Mm…!"
"What's wrong, Lin Feng? You look like you've got something on your mind."
When Shizuka heard Lin Feng invite her inside, she smiled and agreed cheerfully.
But as soon as she looked up and saw the complicated expression on his face—somewhere between hesitant and troubled—she couldn't help but ask in confusion.
They'd been classmates for quite some time, and it was rare to see Lin Feng looking like this.
"Yeah, Shizuka. There's something I want to tell you," Lin Feng said with a wry smile. "But before I do, I think you should mentally prepare yourself a little…"
"Because what I'm about to say might sound… unbelievable."
Seeing her puzzled expression, Lin Feng could only smile helplessly as he gave her a friendly warning.
"Unbelievable, huh…?"
Shizuka tilted her head slightly, her tone still calm and bright. "It's fine, go ahead. I'm listening."
After all, she'd gone on countless adventures with Doraemon, Nobita, Gian, and Suneo. Shizuka had seen all kinds of amazing, impossible things.
All those strange gadgets Doraemon had pulled out of his pocket—she'd already witnessed plenty.
So her capacity for surprise was far beyond ordinary people's. Sometimes, she was even braver than Nobita himself.
"In that case," Lin Feng said, taking a small breath, "I'll just tell you straight. This morning, while I was at home…"
Once he saw that Shizuka was ready, Lin Feng explained everything in detail—how Fūko had appeared, how she'd been sealed, and what had happened since she came to his house.
"You're saying that this sentient, tiny typhoon… is upstairs right now?"
To his surprise, Shizuka didn't look particularly shocked.
If anything, Lin Feng could feel a hint of excitement coming from her—as if she couldn't wait to see the so-called "Wind Child" in person.
"Uh… yeah. She's probably with Chachamaru right now," Lin Feng said honestly. He hadn't expected that kind of reaction, and for a moment, he didn't quite know what else to say.
"Then what are we waiting for? Let's go see her!"
Without a second of hesitation, Shizuka headed straight for the stairs.
Lin Feng could only give a helpless laugh and shake his head before following her up.
He had honestly thought she would at least be a little surprised.
After all, for most people, hearing that a typhoon had gained consciousness would be enough to make their jaws drop.
But perhaps this was just the nature of Doraemon's world—so many strange, magical things happened here that Shizuka's calm enthusiasm actually made sense.
Still, the fact that she accepted Fūko's existence so easily was a good thing. It meant Lin Feng wouldn't have to spend time explaining or worrying about it.
"Meow~!"
When Chachamaru saw the familiar face of Shizuka, it let out a happy meow and ran to her feet, rubbing affectionately against her hand.
With a cat's sharp hearing, Chachamaru had already sensed her presence back when Lin Feng opened the door downstairs.
But since Lin Feng had entrusted it with the important duty of watching over Fūko, the cat had dutifully stayed upstairs instead of running down immediately.
Now that Lin Feng had come up too, Chachamaru finally allowed itself to greet Shizuka properly.
"It's been so long, Chachamaru! Ah, stop it—you're too affectionate… that tickles!"
Petting a cat was definitely a different kind of joy compared to petting a dog.
And right now, Shizuka was clearly lost in that joy. Every time she interacted with Chachamaru, she couldn't help but feel genuinely happy.
"Oh, right—Lin Feng, where's that 'Fūko' you mentioned? I don't see her anywhere…"
After spending a while playing with Chachamaru, Shizuka suddenly noticed that she hadn't seen any sign of the so-called "mini typhoon."
In fact, not even the slightest breeze stirred in the room—the curtains by the balcony didn't move an inch.
"She's right here," Lin Feng said, smiling as he walked over to the table. "Since she can't control her wind power very well yet, I asked her to stay in here for now."
He lifted the kettle from the table and placed it in front of Shizuka, explaining with a grin.
"You mean Fūko's inside… this kettle?"
Shizuka blinked, clearly taken aback.
"Mm."
Lin Feng nodded.
"Shuu~! Shuu~!"
Perhaps hearing the conversation outside, Fūko suddenly lifted the lid of the kettle herself and darted out, swirling around Shizuka like a curious little sprite.
The moment she emerged, the entire room stirred—the air shifted, the wind rushed softly around them.
But almost instantly, Fūko drew the currents back in, containing them neatly within a tiny radius around her.
She remembered clearly how hard Lin Feng had worked to clean the room earlier, and she didn't want to ruin it again. If she wanted him to like her, she had to behave!
"So this is Fūko…? She's adorable!"
In front of Shizuka floated a small orange whirlwind—the same form that Suneo had first encountered before.
It was Shizuka's first time seeing a "mini typhoon" up close, and she couldn't help but be fascinated.
"Shuu~! Shuu~!"
Fūko could sense that Shizuka harbored no hostility toward her, so she happily greeted the girl, swirling around her in a friendly little dance.
"What a funny little thing," Shizuka said with a laugh. Then she looked back at Lin Feng curiously. "So, what are you planning to do with her?"
After playing with Fūko for a while, Shizuka couldn't help but think practically.
Chachamaru, after all, was a real cat—a pet Lin Feng could raise without issue.
But Fūko was different. As a small typhoon, she technically fell under the category of natural disasters.
And in this current form—an orange little whirlwind—if someone without context saw her on the street, they'd probably be terrified.
No matter how cute she looked, her true nature was still that of a typhoon capable of causing enormous destruction.
If the wrong person spotted her and reported it, it could easily lead to officials or researchers getting involved.
It was clear from Shizuka's thoughtful frown that she'd already realized all of this.
That's why she looked a little worried now.
