Chapter 42 - I hate you

I left the room after regaining my composure, forcing back every unwanted thought of Dominic and the burning desire that still simmered beneath my skin.

Dinner was a disaster.

With Dominic alone? Perfect, in a tense, torturously magnetic sort of way. I'd always been nervous about sharing meals with him, given the undeniable tension between us. But right now? I'd take that over this.

Jason made the whole thing unbearable.

At first, I thought his anger was just leftover resentment from catching his father about to devour me whole earlier, metaphorically, I mean. But no. There was something deeper. Something festering between them that had nothing to do with me.

They hadn't seen each other in years — three, from what I'd gathered — and it showed. It was in Jason's body language, in the sharpness of his voice, and most of all, in the way he looked at Dominic. And sometimes, me.
