My lips pursed as I turned to Dominic, stepping toward him slowly. I placed a hand on his chest, and his eyes dropped to meet mine. His hardened features softened, just slightly.
Dominic groaned, dragging his fingers through his hair. "I'm really sorry about Jason."
"It's okay," I said quickly. "It's not your fault."
But he shook his head. "It is. I should've handled it better. I shouldn't have let him speak to you like that. You didn't do anything wrong. His anger should be on me, not you."
"Why though?" I asked, my fingers absently toying with the top button of his shirt. I looked up to find his gaze fixed on me, intense, unreadable and I flushed under the weight of it.
"If you don't want to talk about it, that's fine," I mumbled, letting my hand fall. "I'm not part of the family anyway. I shouldn't be nosy."
