After the banquet the four champions along with max and Zelda stood on a small structure to gain some privacy between them.
Daruk: i gotta say i think that they went overboard with the banquet and ceremony.
Urbosa: well of course they did we have the legendary hero in our presence so obviously the kings wants to feel at home.
Revali: mph honestly it was a little exaggerated. By the way princess that little device in your hand. Isn't that the shiekah slate?
He took the ancient device to get a closer look max saw the device and it looks like a mix of a game pad and a phone.
Zelda: it is. Apparently there's more uses for it then we anticipated. But sadly we are yet to figure its secrets.
Revali thought he saw enough of the device and pass it off to Mipha.
Urbosa looked at the device and remembered that it can take real life images.
Urbosa: the princess actually showed me something unique. This little device can take real time images.
Max: that's called a photograph.
Everyone turned to max who spoke and Zelda remembered that max had a shiekah slate of his own but he calls it a phone.
Zelda: oh right I completely forgot you have one of your own.
Everyone's eyes widen and looked at max with curiosity.
Max: (you just had to say it didn't you,you moron)
He said this to himself because he sometimes has a bad habit of talking out of nowhere and now it was a bad time because he had a pair of eyes of races that bearly have any high levels of technology.
He just decided to get it over with and took out his phone from his pocket and showed it.
The champions and Zelda saw a figure in the device and they thought it was some legendary warrior from Max's world but no it was actually a fictional character from an anime called reaper where the main character has inherited the soul of the grim reaper and has to guide the souls of the dead while dealing with other entities like demons and angels.
Zelda: that's interesting who is that? Is that a legendary warrior from your world?
Max: no he's just a fictional character from some anime that I watched.
The champions tilted their head and max just realized that they will half the time not understand what he's saying.
This is a myth evil era or a version of it we're technology literally didn't exist so they wouldn't no Jack about tv cars or anything technological.
Well aside from those divine beast and the shiekah slate.
Max: forget what I said it's nothing important.
Urbosa noticed the icons and saw the names and one caught her interest.
Profile?
Max: yeah. This thing has my information from my birthday background and medical history. But don't for a second I'm gonna show my private information to any of you.
Revali just waved it off.
While Zelda and the others were more interested now more on the functions of max's phone and more specifically Zelda.
She was more and more curious about max's phone and see how much it differs from the shiekah slate and the fact that it has max's information is fascinating to her.
Zelda: can you show me more?
Max: sorry but no. You guys won't do anything with my information but I'm not gonna talk about it Willy nilly I just met you all.
She was a little disappointed but she could understand why.
Revali unfortunately decided to speak.
Revali: you may be hero of legend but let's be honest do you actually think that you could actually keep up with us?
Max: excuse me?
Revali: I noticed it you are a unique case and we are supposed to train you but if being blunt I don't see you keeping up with my skills as an archer.
Max: and who the hell said that I need it?
Revali: I'm just saying just because you are getting special treatment just because you are a hero legend doesn't exactly suit you well.
Moline: (bro he's pissing me off let's roast this big chicken)
Max: (temping but it would cause trouble more than it's worth)
Max: you listen clear birdie. I'm no hero and more I need training for a guy who's head is so far up your own ass. And more importantly I have no choice but help you because I'm stuck here. I have better things to do back home.
Zelda and the other 3 saw that Revali was offended by max calling him out in a disrespectful way and before punches or arrows could fly Daruk stepped in to stop the arrogant rito.
Daruk: that's enough Revali were supposed to be a team and you could show some respect to your fellow teammate.
Revali just scoffed at this and walked away and flew off.
Max: asshole.
Daruk: don't let him get to you the guy means well but he has a big ego.
Urbosa: and like I said one day that ego is gonna be his own downfall.
Mipha: I'm just that a fight didn't broke out.
Daruk: trust me the last thing we need right after the little guy came was a fight between one of the champions and the hero.
Max: I have a name.
Daruk: oh right sorry. It's max McKnight right?
Urbosa: now that sounds like a royal name. Max are you a royal?
Max: heh no way I'm anything but royal I'm basically a guy with a big pocket but has zero motivation to get rich quickly.
Mipha: so you aren't royal?
Max: nope if anything I was a street rat when I was a kid before being taken in.
Zelda: by who?
Max decided that he shared enough of his story for now and just made a my lips are sealed motion which they understood what he ment.
They were about to leave the structure but the king along with a woman who looked Japanese beside him.
Rhoam: good you're here I have an announcement for you max.
Max: what is it?
Rhoam: since you are the hero of legend and my daughter has the power of the goddess but she still hasn't awakened her powers I want you to-
Before Rhoam could continue max did a double take Zelda can't control her powers then how did she summon him.
Max: woah woah woah hold up! If Zelda can't control her powers then how did she summoned me?
Impa: show respect to the king-
Rhoam stopped his advisor from reprimanding max.
Rhoam: no impa it's a fair question.
Impa kept quiet but she still glared at max.
Rhoam: yes my daughter can't control her powers yet but the ritual that was used to summon you activated her powers automatically and not of her own will.
Max listened and he got the picture. Basically Zelda's powers activated on thier own and summoned him not Zelda herself.
Rhoam: now then I feel it's better to get to the heart of the matter. I want you to be my daughter's appointed knight.
Max was about to say something but Zelda had other ideas.
Zelda: father you can't be serious I don't need an escort to protect me. I'm not some defenseless girl.
Rhoam: you are my daughter and one who has the blood of the goddess. As your father I can't take any chances with you being targeted by the yiga clan.
Zelda was about to retort but Rhoam was having non of it.
Rhoam: no excuses Zelda you are a crucial part of defeating calamity ganon and I can't risk anything happening to you. Max is your appointed knight end of story.
Max and the other champions were just to the side watching the father and daughter argument.
If max was being honest he wanted more details on being an appointed knight. would he have to follow Zelda every day? Or just be around her?
He knew nothing of what an appointed knight even was so he just want clarification. But it doesn't he won't have a say.
After the king said his peace he left leaving a frustrated Zelda who also walked off but before he left he turned to max because he has another announcement.
Rhoam: max tomorrow you will to the great forest to get the sword that seals that seals the darkness. My daughter and the other champions will accompany you.
With those final words he left and he left along with his advisor.
There was an awkward moment of silence and max broke it.
Max: well that was awkward.
Daruk: tell me about it the princess is a stubborn girl and she doesn't seem to be treated like some fragile little girl.
Mipha: but she hasn't awakened her powers and she doesn't anyway of defending herself.
Urbosa: I hate to say but the king has a point our little bird is very important and she hasn't awakened her power.
Max: hey can you give me more details on the whole blood of the goddess thing?
Urbosa: right you won't know. Every generation when calamity ganon is on the rise a princess is destined to awaken the blood of the goddess to seal ganon away and once the creatinine is destroyed and sealed away the power of the goddess will disappear.
Max: mmmh. So she has the power to seal ganon but only once every ten thousand years have pass he will rise again and another princess will gain Zelda's power?
Mipha: yes that's how the legend says.
This whole thing about ganon feels off because for one why did he rise every ten thousand years? And more importantly does the thing actually have intelligence? That's honestly what worries him more because he fought some lost souls that have some form of intelligence and they gave him a hard time.
Daruk saw max's face was concerned and he decided to reassure him.
Daruk: don't worry we have the divine beast and a hoard of guardians on our side. Ganon has zero chance of winning.
Max: that's not what worries me. What worries me if ganon has any form of intelligence because if he does he likely has a plan.
Urbosa: don't worry so much boy ganon is a beast and beast are predictable.
Max: I'm just saying my opinion if he does have intelligence we are in trouble.
Time passed and it night time.
Max was lead to a luxury room in some part of the castle and he honestly felt out of place. Which is obvious why.
When he took a shower and he looked at himself in the mirror and he was staring his reflection getting a wierd feeling in his chest he completely forgot about it.
He tired to changed into normal clothes except his jacket was folded neatly on the bed and he was meditating to focus on the wierd feeling on his soul.
But he didn't sense anything wrong. Actually he didn't fell off he felt normal and that honestly didn't help.
He took a moment to think about this weird feeling and it clicked. Maybe it was the soul of the hero thing maybe it didn't actually felt off he just has an additional factor.
So far he knows that only those who have the soul of the hero can use a sword that seals the darkness.
Anyway if take the thing he might make the hyrule more relaxed because everyone is worried about calamity ganon and getting the master sword might calm them down a slight bit.
Now relieved to know that there wasn't anything wrong he went to bed and getting himself a master sword.
However before he went to bed he heard a cry and when he looked out the window he saw a dragon. A real life dragon.
And it was white with blonde mains and blue Cristal on its back.
However something felt off. He felt as if the dragon was familiar but since it was meter away he couldn't sense its soul if it even had one.
When it was out of sight he dismissed the wierd feeling and went to bed.
The next day max Zelda and the champions were traveling through the lost woods to look for the master sword.
One problem it was foggy and no can see well they almost separated thanks to monster roaming around it was but thanks to max's soul sensing ability found everyone and they rounded together.
Revali: its way too foggy I can't see anything. And for all we know we might be going around in circles.
Daruk: or maybe you can get up in the air and give us a vantage view.
Revali: remember that we separated for a period of time? I already tired and it's foggy even up there. And I would have gone higher if those cursed bokkoblins didn't have exploding arrows.
While the champions were talking max sensed something near by and it wasn't an enemy.
He turned and saw 3 creatures that looked like trees with small arms and legs and they had leafs for masks.
He thought they were looking at him and the others but no they were looking directly at him.
He approached the small creatures hiding but the champions and Zelda noticed.
Urbosa: what's wrong?
Her voice alerted the small creatures and they ran off.
Max was starting to think that the amount of special treatment of being the hero of legend was getting ridiculous. First a banquet then now he was treated like he already did something amazing. And now these little creatures seem to want him specifically.
Max: guys I think I should go alone.
Revali: oh and why's that?
Max: because I saw small creatures that seem to want me to follow them.
Mipha: we didn't see any creatures.
Max: that's because they got scared off by you guys.
Revali: you must have lost your mind you-
Revali stopped because now that he thought about it what was max? He wasn't a hylian because his ears weren't pointed so what should he call him?
Revali: well now that I actually think about what are you max?
Zelda and the champions looked at max who stared back.
Max: you just thought about asking me that now?
Revali: just answer the question or is that private too?
Max: I'm a human.
That world sounded completely alien to everyone.
Revali: human. Huh. What a wierd name.
Max: says the big bird in front of me.
Zelda decided that these two had enough of getting at each other's throats.
Zelda: max are you sertant?
Max: yeah I'm sure.
Revali seemed to get the hint and walked off.
Revali: well great hero if you get yourself killed don't say I didn't warn you.
Max: bite me. Turkey.
That have revali pause and Daruk and urbosa laugh at the name calling.
While Mipha was worried about max she could tell max was hiding something and he was stronger then he lead on.
Zelda stood back to ask one more time.
Zelda: just to be Clear are you sure about what you are doing? You don't have any weapons and you didn't fought those bokkoblins.
Max: relax princess I'll be fine and beside I'm exactly alone.
Zelda was confused at first but then remembered that max apparently has a guardian spirit that he calls his sister.
Zelda: you better come back alive.
With that she joined the champions to get to the exit of the forest.
Once everyone was gone moline materialized on top of his head while her legs were on his shoulders.
Moline: looks like you're quite a star eh bro?
Max: let's just get that sword so everyone's panties don't get all up in my case.
He felt eyes on him again and he turn and saw the little creatures watching him.
He once again walked towards them and when he got close enough instead of running away they led him.
It took a while but when he made it to another part of the forest but it was less foggy and more bright.
There were more of the little creatures watching him with interest and anticipation.
In the center of it all there was a stone slab and stabbed in the center was a sword that.
He got close to it and before he could touch it a voice came out of the giant tree.
Deku tree: I see so you are the legendary hero from another world.
Max: okay giant talking tree. Because you can't have a fantasy world with a giant talking tree.
Deku tree: don't be alert I am the great Deku tree my children told me of your arrival and I told them to lead you here.
Max: well that saves me the trouble.
Deku tree: however there's something I want to speak about with you max.
Max: let me guess how you know my name your kiddos?
Deku tree: yes but that doesn't matter I can sense a strange power from you and it's not of this world nor from the soul of the hero that's inside you. I must ask what's the origin of this strange power.
Max guessed that the Deku tree was talking about his spiritual energy.
Max: before you start getting your branches in a bind this power is my own and everyone in my world has this but only those who are more aware can actually use it most of the population can't use it.
Deku tree: I see and that girl on your shoulder she's not any species I've seen before.
Moline: I'm a spirit. I dead when I was 12 and I've been around and i met my bro who brought me into the family.
Deku tree: this is a curious case.
Max: what is?
Deku tree: you have your own power along with the soul of the hero the other heroes before didn't have this power.
Max: well unlike me they probably didn't have any experience in combat or anything supernatural just regular guys who didn't do anything special.
Deku tree: yes it's seen the princess has summoned a unique hero and one who is more powerful than the heroes before you.
Max: thanks I guess. So can i?
He pointed at the master sword to get his point across.
Deku tree: of course I was making sure that matter out of the way.
Max got closer to the sword and moline got off his shoulder and looked at it.
Moline: well looks pretty at least.
Max grabbed the handle and he pulled the blade out with some struggle.
But thanks to him amplifying his strength with spiritual energy he pulled it out and he could have sworn he heard a jingle from those dungeons and dragons games.
Once he pulled it out he looked at the blade and all its glory he didn't see anything special but he guess when this thing meets darkness it more effective.
And this gave him a thought.
Max: hey moline get my blade out.
Moline: why?
Max: I just want to test something.
Moline wasn't sure what he was planning but complied.
She turned into snake and she opened her mouth and out came Max's personal blade.
The Deku tree looked on in curiosity of course the legend said that the hero only had the master sword as a the main weapon but max was a special case because he could feel a massive amount of power coming from the katana.
Max was dual wielding the master sword and his own blade.
He crossed them together in an x formation.
Suddenly the black blade started to draw power from the master sword but when max noticed he stopped.
Max: okay so my theory is confirmed.
Deku tree: what did you do?
Max: this blade of mine can absorb energy and I was testing if I can do it with the master sword because it fell an energy from it.
Deku tree: you are more and more interesting.
Max: aren't you mad?
Deku tree: no I'm not angry. If anything I'm more curious there's never been a blade that might be as powerful or capable of surpassing the master sword. The sword can only damage darkness but it breaks and it takes some time to recover. However your blade doesn't seem to be normal may I ask what's the difference between your blade and the master sword?
Max: well I guess the difference is that the master sword is probably made specifically to combat ganon but my blade was created with special materials that are compatible with my energy absorbing abilities and unlike this one it grows with me and the time that I did break I can just get the shards together and it reattaches like nothing happened. And I have something else packing in this blade of mine.
Deku tree: I see. It looks like hyrule really hit thier luck with you boy with your power we might do more damage to ganon we realize.
Max: I'm not gonna revival my abilities to everyone but when ganon shows his mug I'll get it done.
Deku tree: I have no doubt.
Max was about to walk away but stopped and looked back with a question.
Max: hey Deku tree does the legend say what happens to the hero after defeating ganon?
Deku tree: unfortunately no I've been watching hyrule through the eyes of my children but every heroes seems to disappear into thin air.
Max: so there's a chance that they went back to thier own worlds or something else is at play.
Deku tree: you are more careful then the heroes I've met that's a wise decision.
Max: well like I said I've been through a lot of crap so I'm barely surprised anymore.
Deku tree: I see is there anything else you want to ask?
Max: nah I'm good. Thanks grampa tree.
With that max left ready to meet up with the champions and Zelda.
The great Deku tree was taken aback by the name max gave him grandpa tree.
He let out a small laugh at the name no one else have called him anything other than the great Deku tree but having someone especially someone who showed respect calling him grandpa tree it was fitting.
Deku tree: this boy is something else. May the goddess hylia smile upon him.
However he saw the sky turn red and it was night time.
Deku tree: oh by hylia it's a blood moon.
A blood moon is an event that ganon's power amplifies in a full moon and any monster that was killed is brought back to life by his dark power.
And this was one of those times that a blood moon happened.
Deku tree turned his attention to his children who were scared but this was urgent.
Max likely doesn't know about the blood moon so he isn't aware of the danger the champions are in.
Deku tree: quick you must get max back to the champions at post haste.
The kororks were scared but they heard the urgent tone in their father and a few of them took the courage to find max.
Meanwhile with said person he was walking towards where he felt the presence of the champions and princess and he store the master sword inside moline's pocket dimension stomach and has his own blade out.
It's been a while since he used it and he wants to feel its weight in his hand.
However he suddenly felt a dark presence around him he thought he was gonna get ambushed by the dark presence was all over the place.
He looked up and saw the moon that was blood red.
Max: what the hell?
Suddenly monster that the champions killed respawned and they were mad and max was surrounded but he can tell that The monster didn't get any stronger.
And he was beyond what they could handle.
Max: I don't know what's going on but I know one thing.
He took a stance with his katana and the monsters felt the air suddenly turn heavy.
Max: you all need to get the hell out of my way!
