The winter solstice was just a day away, everyone knew it. And everyone expected no one to show up. And so as Kai returned with a dozen of the hunters, no one was surprised when they found no one.
And so the preparations for the siege of the spire were nearing their end.
People were trading memories to suit their fighting styles, some rested, others prayed, but everyone could feel the fear and the hope from one another.
Everyone knew that people would die, a lot of people, but they were ready to do anything to escape this hell.
And so two weeks after the winter solstice, the Dreamer army stood before the spire, they were waiting for the dark sea to retreat. In the meantime, plans were finalized, balistas and catapults were checked for any problems, the archers checked their arrows, and the front-line warriors checked their combat memories.
And as the dark sea slowly retreated, everyone saw what they expected, but didn't want to see.
A giant army of nightmare creatures, on the size of their own, perhaps even larger.
