Charlene
I awoke to the overwhelming scent of hospital disinfectant invading my nostrils, filling the room with its pungency.
The silence was broken only by the rhythmic beeping of the machine beside me. Slowly, I fluttered my eyes open, squinting against the brightness of the light above my head. As my vision cleared, I saw a figure beside me, a hand gently clasping mine.
His face appeared blurry at first, and I thought it was him.
Draven. I had believed that he had come to save him until I focused on his face, blinked, and then saw the face.
Keilan.
How had he ended up here? I vividly remembered being tossed into the sea by the Luna Queen, believing it was the end. Yet, somehow, I had survived and found myself in a hospital bed, with Keilan by my side. "Where...," I managed to croak, my voice trembling.
"Take it easy, Charlene," he soothed, rubbing my hand. "You've been in the hospital for a day."
