"You're done?" I asked her again to confirm that I had heard her correctly. "Done with what?"
"Us!" she replied, walking back to the bed and sitting. I can't continue this. Your mother will never accept me, and I don't want our children to suffer just like Keilan did."
Keilan again? We discussed something important, yet again, she brought up Keilan. Just hearing his name stirred something dark and volatile inside me.
"You think I'm going to let our children suffer? What in the world do you take me for?"
"What do I take you for?" she scoffed, rubbing her forehead. "You're always quick to believe what others tell you, and someone like you will always follow whatever you hear, especially from your mother!"
The way she kept mentioning my mother made it sound like something had happened again, something she wasn't telling me.
