Chapter 18: disappointment because of no confession value cases
"Hahaha…." Both Kogoro and Conon started to laugh like stupid people and Rito did not laugh. Instead his expression became serious and his mind sank into the thoughts about various plot routines.
"It is probably a story that is created by the museum staff to attract more visitors and customers to that place." Kogoro said while sinking his face into the paper again without caring for Ran.
"Yeah, that is right sister Ran. It is to fool the kids to come to the museum and pay up a little amount to let the museum running…" Conon said without noticing the change in the expression or Ran thinking with doubt that "You are also a kid…?"
Rito that was sitting beside felt something and remembered that there is such a case. But he doesn't remember the entire plot. He only remembered that it is a murder case. So he quick wanted to speak when Ran smashed her fist on the table and said.
"You want to go now right…?" the faces of Kogoro and Conon changed as they accepted their fate. Rito on the other hand stood up and said to Kogoro.
"She will always use her fists when she could not get her way to work…" Conon muttered.
"I should not have let her learn karate…" Kogoro thought in his heart adjusting his coat.
"Uncle Kogoro, I am feeling that there is something wrong with the moving armor. I feel that it might be a preplanned crime of some sort. That museum is said to be closing. I also investigated a case with some of the stuff in the museum went missing which is like a theft."
When Rito said this his face is slightly serious and Kogoro thought that they are going any way so seeing simple things is not a problem. Conon also thought of the same thing as Kogoro after listening to the words of Rito.
Ran on the other hand thought that Rito is making up a story to support her words and let these two detective addicts to come with her to the museum willingly. She felt good in her heart and that is all.
In the museum, Ran walked ahead and Rito followed looking around casually. On the other hand the expressions of Kogoro and Conon did not look good. They just casually saw around with their eyes looking bored.
Suddenly an old looking man with a weird mustache, thick falling eyebrows and beard that made his face looks like a triangular appeared and said to Ran… "You like this one young lady. I like this painting a lot too…"
"Not just that, I love all the paintings here as if they are my own children." the old man said and the bulbs in the head of Rito immediately lit up. He remembered the case completely and understood the ins and outs of this matter.
Here the old man is not much in the wrong. He is just like that. He loves this place and painting. The new owner did not see much profit from this museum. So he wanted to close it and open some things else. Well he is not wrong either.
On the other hand there is another worker that is selling the antique and art work pieces secretly which is not a good thing. The paranoid old man killed these people because of the reason that he loves everything here like his children.
All in all, the one that made the mistake is actually the thief that is selling the things outside. The old man is mentally ill so even if he commits a crime there is no court that can punish him for this.
Because of all these things Rito cannot extract any confession from any of these people to gain benefits. All of them have their own reasons and the final result is that a mentally ill patient killed someone valuing antiques more than the life of a human.
This old man is actually the director of this museum called Ochiai. The plot went normally and Rito just stood on the spot to watch as the things happen. He would not stupid enough to stop the murder.
He doesn't care and want to watch the plot go on. After going around the museum all day long, they finally arrived at the hell room that was previously blocked before. There is a huge painting called the "DIVINE JUDGMENT" in this place.
Rito really liked this painting that looked more like a poster of a magical RPG game or something like that. He did not discover the body instead he let Ran discover the body just like in the plot.
The cops and ambulance arrived really quickly. Rito also remembered that his original thoughts are wrong as he remembered the plot wrong. There is only one murder and the murderer actually threw the blame on the thief instead.
This way he doesn't have to worry about anything and both the scourges are gone at the same time. It is like hitting two birds with one stone. Still the basic setting did not change and the end result is the same.
Conon on the other hand went to find clues while Rito walked around the scene looking at everyone busying themselves from the prospective of an audience. Well technically he is an audience and he is here to watch.
Working for Kogoro might not give him much salary but there are some good perks. Also Conon pulled Rito around so that Rito would act as his cover. As a kid others would not believe his words so Rito has to act as his mouth and cover most of the time.
Conon took it for granted. Rito doesn't mind as he can sink Conon when Rito wanted to sink him. This is easy and Rito knows the tricks of Conon and the final judgment will be in the hands of Rito. As long as he destroys few evidences he can change the direction of the case.
