Blaze and Link managed to upgrade their skills once. I think if Link had a few more hours, he could have upgraded once more without much difficulty. Though, I was most surprised by Raven who understood the principles of her skill much more than the others.
At first, she tried copying the entire thing without looking, and then slowly she started changing the patterns here and there. I believe she must have understood a few basic principles enough to upgrade the skill twice. I looked at her standing silently as she observed the glowing mushrooms growing at the bottom of a huge tree.
A flickering blue butterfly slowly flew closer to her, sitting on her head, creating an iconic picture while the three of us observed her from a distance. Looking at Blaze, he seemed to be falling for her, his eyes open wide as Link closed his half-open mouth with a slight chuckle.
"All right. It's about time," I called everyone out as I looked at the time nearing midnight. It was about time the Witch should be appearing within the settlement. I looked at my skills for a few seconds before thinking about the Trio walking behind me.
Blaze was a good kid, and Link seemed to be a good friend as well. Their partnership and trust in each other were honestly far more valuable than any other skills they had. If they could keep growing together like that, they would surely reach pretty far in life.
As for Raven…
How come I have never heard of her before? Someone of her calibre should have been known in the entire Arcadia. I pondered as I took a look at Raven once again. Thoughts about a bad fate roamed around my mind as I looked at her for a few seconds before putting them at the back of my head.
I probably won't personally go out of my way to look for trouble. But if I happen to come across it, I probably can spare a few moments to look into it. In the end, I decided to leave the troubles of the future to the future.
Lastly, I observed the skill that I worked to create and advance.
[Dual-Weapon Mastery(Advanced)]
[Effects:
-When wielding two weapons at once, it increases the overall attack of the two weapons by 35%!
-Increases chance to land a critical hit by 12%
-Increases the overall damage by 1% per combo hit!
Remarks: Two is better than one, eh? The shield hero won't be rising with this though.]
It wasn't an original skill since most dual wielders would get from the training area, through a class quest. Probably one of the first few skills they would get. However, anyone who already has a class that does not support dual-wielding won't be able to get this skill.
[Healers], [Spearman], or [Knights] won't be able to get a [Dual Weapon Mastery] skill unless they advance to a class that provides one. The same goes for a utility-based class such as [Runesmiths] or [Alchemist].
In a way, not having a class is actually beneficial for me in this scenario.
With this, we have done the most that was possible. Hopefully, this would help us get through the night. Despite doing this much, there was still a high chance that we would lose against the Witch. Hence today's target was simply to increase our levels using the Zombie Horde and getting to the next part of the quest.
It would be amazing if we could complete the quest tonight, but with so many things left up in the air, I doubt it.
The main goal for today was simply to survive for as long as possible. Hopefully, we could do that without many issues.
Since the stream was back on, Blaze was currently answering the curious questions of the viewers showing them the upgrades of his skill. He also told bits about the situation without going deeper into the quest details, enough to make the viewers anticipate what was going to happen next.
He is good. As I heard him speaking, I saw him keeping the viewers engaged without losing focus even once. He surely has skills and a huge stamina for something like that.
Because we had already discussed this before, he didn't tell anyone about the upgrade methods of the skills. I explained to them that even though these are common and were easy to replicate once found, if we don't tell this to anyone, we should have an upper hand among the players later on as well.
The amazed yet enchanted look on their faces was kind of awkward though. I gave out a small smile as I recalled their reaction. And then slowly as we walked through the dark path that seemed to be getting more pitch black with every step we took, we reached back to the settlement.
A new moon night and the clouds covering the sky. Is it part of the quest atmosphere? I pondered as I took a small stone from the corner of the path.
[Glow!]
Link who saw me using the skill, also followed along.
[Light!]
"What now?" Link asked a bit confused about the whole situation. I could see the worry on his face as the entire atmosphere was getting more tense with each passing second.
"Follow me," I spoke as I reached the nearest unburnt Fire Torch, and lit it up using the flint stone I had and the small heat that the [Glow] skill was generating.
Then taking a branch from a nearby tree, I lit up the small branch as well before taking it to the other Fire Torches within the village, lighting them up one by one. A total of 8 Fire Torches within the settlement…
And as soon as the last one was ignited.
[Event Quest Triggered: Night of the New Moon!]
