Chapter 44:Princess Run 2
At last,hiding ,fighting,seeking a way to enter the capital , her weary steps guide her toward a small village. She does not know it yet but this place was going to change destiny .
It is the same village where Ank lives, training endlessly, pushing against the limits of his fate ,trying to free himself from his seal.
But before she can reach it, the nightmare begins again but this time they were not from the central continents .
She was in a cart moving to the village ,she now finds a way to enter the capital and at last his search was ended. For a moment, she allows herself to enjoy the view outside of the cart from the window. His face was hidden with a hoody and only his lifeless eyes were visible. The first time she was relaxed,she knew central continent forces would never find her.She was confident in this plan.
She got information that in this village the emperor was increasing soldiers for some reason and strictly prohibited central continents armies to enter in this region and there was a direct road that moved towards the capital.
There were two carts ,in the first cart there were five people and all were adventures that the merchant hired to protect him ,three adventurers were bodybuilders while the two had average body and they were all male and at least age of 40 and in the second cart merchant with his private bodyguard and princess .
Then
Thud. Thud. Thud.
The ground shakes. Horses neigh in panic. The driver pulls on the reins, shouting, but the air itself thickens. From the trees, from the earth, from every corner green figures emerge with green lighting glowing in the center.
Monsters some one shouted .
The cart halts. The merchant murmured in fear. The princess steps out, hand on her sword, eyes narrowing.
And then she sees them.
Not wolves. Not ogres. Not anything she has fought before.
Their bodies are stone, wrapped in vines. Their limbs are like branches turned to stone. Their eyes glow green, alive with unnatural hunger.
Stone Plant Monsters.
The very same creature Ank fights in the nearby mountains one year ago.
"Protect the Cart!" someone cries.
But the cry is brief.
The monsters strike mercilessly. Roots spear through bodies. Stone fists crush bones. Screams echo, then silence follows.
In less than a minute, everyone else is dead.
Five adventures fight bravely but they cannot protect themself from their attack .
The princess stands alone, her blade trembling in her grip.
Her breath hitches, but her will does not break.
"So this is how it ends " she whispers. Then louder, stronger: "If death awaits me, I will meet it face to face without fear!"
With a shout, she charges ,she lifts a sword from the side of the dead adventures .
His sword clashes against stone plant monster .
She was tired of running ,she now wants to fight head on even though she can die.
Her sword carves through the first monster, splitting its chest. But for every one she kills, five more rise. The earth itself seems to birth them.
Her strikes grow faster, sharper. She spins, slashes, thrusts. Her arms burn, her lungs scream for air, but she does not stop.
Clang!
Crack!
Thud!
The corpses of monsters pile around her. Her dress is torn, her skin cut, but still she stands.
And still they come.
The circle tightens. Roots coil around her ankles. A stony hand grazes her shoulder.
Her strength decrease. Her sword feels heavier with each strike.
From the distance, one monster lifts its arm. Vines harden into a jagged spear.
With a violent snap, it launches.
SHHK!
The stone root missile pierces her body.
Her mouth opens in a silent gasp. Warm blood floods down her chest, staining her clothes crimson.
Pain spreads across her body, but she does not fall.
Her legs move on their own, stumbling, staggering. Ahead lies the mountain dark, towering, unyielding. If she can just reach it maybe
Step by step, leaving a trail of blood, she runs.
The world blurs. Her vision darkens.
At last, she crosses into the mountain's shadow.
Her strength breaks. Her body collapses. Darkness swallows her.
And last she lost his will to live ,she now wants to accept his death .
But destiny does not abandon her,destiny had other plans for him.
Two figures approach from the shadows of the mountain. One is Horskey, a beast with half the body of monkeys and half the body of horse. The other is the Earth Spider, a monstrous creature with power to crush a mountain.
Enemies to most humans. Yet not today.
They stare at her broken body. For a moment, silence reigns.
Then, slowly, carefully, they lift her.
Not to kill. Not to devour.
To protect.
They carry her into their cave, where another figure rests Maya.
The princess is placed beside her. The monsters settle at the entrance, guarding them both.
For the first time in more than a year, the princess is safe.
And though she does not yet know it, this moment will change everything.
Her destiny, once drowning in blood and despair, has begun to turn Forever.
