Recently, everything that had happened seemed to be connected by an invisible hand.
They were like a vast web closing in on the Amazing Spider-Man.
First, Harry found the Amazing Peter and told him that the Osborn family carried a hereditary disease—one that manifested after age twenty and slowly robbed its victims of their lives.
This was why his father, Norman Osborn, died so young.
Before his death, Norman left Harry a secret file.
In that secret file, Harry found several image records. The data showed that more than ten years ago, the mutated spiders researched by Peter's father, Richard Parker, might be able to completely cure the disease.
But after the Lizard incident a year ago, all biological research inside Oscorp—including the Lizard formula and the mutated spiders—had been confiscated by a mysterious organization and reportedly destroyed.
So Harry sought out the Amazing Peter, connecting the dots from the file and recalling Spider-Man.
He believed that Spider-Man must have gained his powers from those mutated spiders inside Oscorp.
Therefore, he wanted Spider-Man's blood to develop a cure.
But the Amazing Peter feared Harry might turn into a monster like Dr. Connors, so he planned to refuse.
Under Harry's desperate pleading, he reluctantly agreed.
Later, as the Amazing Spider-Man, he went to Harry and refused him under the pretext that their blood types did not match.
What the Amazing Spider-Man did not expect was that this would cause Harry to hold a deep grudge against him.
Harry somehow acquired a Venom-like serum and transformed himself into a twisted, monstrous figure, calling himself the "Green Goblin."
He also somehow broke Electro out of captivity and became "friends" with him.
Electro and the Green Goblin teamed up, becoming a serious threat to Spider-Man.
They even discovered that the Amazing Spider-Man was Peter Parker!
Feeling betrayed by his friend, the Green Goblin Harry grew even more furious. He once kidnapped Gwen to force the Amazing Spider-Man into submission.
During the battle, he even dropped Gwen from a clock tower, nearly killing her.
Fortunately, thanks to Peter's earlier warning, the Amazing Spider-Man had made improvements to his webbing and web shooters, preventing Gwen from dying.
But this also cost him the chance to pursue the Green Goblin. The nearly defeated Goblin escaped with the already fallen Electro, disappearing back into the shadows.
Next, Aleksei Sytsevich—who had gone in and out of prison repeatedly—reappeared, once again wearing his Rhino armor.
Not only that, but the Amazing Peter also received reliable intel: the Goblin Harry, along with his restored Electro, had now joined forces with the Rhino.
And they had kidnapped George Stacy, the acting commissioner of the NYPD. They publicly issued a challenge to Spider-Man, demanding he reach their designated location within a time limit—or else they would kill him!
Publicly, George Stacy was not only the police commissioner, but Spider-Man's "partner." Over the past year, the two had "worked together" to take down many criminals—though this was mostly in the Amazing Spider-Man's imagination.
Privately, George Stacy was Gwen's father—his future father-in-law.
There was no way the Amazing Spider-Man would abandon him.
Thus, he headed to the location demanded by the Green Goblin and his group.
It was a power plant on the eastern outskirts of New York City.
But when Peter arrived, he wasn't attacked directly by the Goblin and the others. Instead, he encountered unexpected enemies.
It turned out Dr. Connors had also been kidnapped!
Using Dr. Connors and the experimental data they had previously seized from Oscorp—data that should have been destroyed—they recreated the Lizard serum.
And they used the serum on the captured Commissioner Stacy and the others.
The Amazing Spider-Man was forced to fight more than a dozen Lizard-men, but because of who they originally were, he didn't dare seriously injure them. As a result, he was overwhelmed and defeated.
He escaped onto one of the tall buildings in the power plant, his heart sinking into despair.
That despair was transmitted through the glowing web to Peter—
Peter arrived quickly, received all the information passed from the Amazing Spider-Man, and sorted everything out.
Then he, too, frowned.
Given the current situation, it was no wonder the Amazing Spider-Man felt hopeless. Even Peter himself found this extremely troublesome.
This situation was completely different from anything he had faced before.
Because his direct "enemies" weren't really enemies.
Even though the Lizard-men below treated him like a mortal foe and attacked him relentlessly, they were victims—forced into becoming what they were now.
In this situation, not only the Amazing Spider-Man, even Peter had no way to strike them down brutally.
Peter then examined the condition of his current body.
From the group beating earlier, the Amazing Spider-Man had suffered a lot of injuries.
Fortunately, Spider-Man's physique was strong, and the Amazing Spider-Man had been Spider-Man for over a year. His abilities had become increasingly stable, so these superficial wounds healed quickly.
The most serious injury was the left rib.
During his fight with the Lizard-men, Rhino had rammed him, blasting him dozens of meters away. One rib had been broken on the spot.
Peter reached toward the injured rib, roughly estimating the extent of the fracture. Then he clenched his teeth and pressed down hard.
Crack!
The broken piece was forcibly pushed back into place.
Shhh—
The web shooter deployed a spray of web fluid, forming a temporary brace over the "surgical" site.
The enhanced physiology granted by the spider genes immediately began repairing the damaged tissue.
"Found him! He's here!"
A Lizard-man appeared on the rooftop across from him, tilting his head back and letting out a sharp, piercing howl.
The madness factor in the Lizard serum had stripped them of their original consciousness, replacing it with a new personality created by the serum's deranged additives.
This new Lizard-personality allowed them to retain some cognitive ability—but made them more extreme, more violent, just like the original Lizard Doctor.
Clearly, the negative side effects of the serum had not been removed—and those wretched villains had recklessly used it on innocent people.
"Damn it…" Peter growled.
He shot a glance at the Lizard-man, then turned and ran toward the other side of the building.
His rib injury still needed time to heal. Now was not the time to fight them head-on.
The Amazing Spider-Man storyline ended after the second movie, and writing only a "2" feels unsatisfying…So based on the book's content, I wanted to derive my own version of The Amazing Spider-Man 3.
