"My dear Peter Parker, where do you think you're going?"
Harry the Green Goblin rode his glider up over Peter's head and hurled several pumpkin bombs down at him.
Peter's heart sank.
The Harry of this world was completely different from the Harry in the Bully Spider-Man's world.
That Harry and Bully Spider-Man were practically locked in a love-hate relationship, but this Harry and the Amazing Spider-Man had only hate—no love at all.
And facts proved that the Amazing Spider-Man's original decision not to give Harry his blood had been the right one.
It was because Harry fused with some kind of venom serum that he turned into this monstrous, half-human, half-demonic thing.
He nearly killed Gwen!
And now he had even kidnapped Captain Stacy along with many innocent people—and transformed them all into Lizard-men!
This was something the Amazing Spider-Man could never forgive.
Originally, Peter had wanted to track down the materials left behind by his father, hoping to find a cure for Harry, and then find a way to heal him.
But Harry's madness and his actions had pushed everything to a terrible point.
Thwip-thwip-thwip—
Peter fired several web-bombs, opening the pumpkin bombs mid-air.
But the pumpkin bombs didn't explode.
Harry cackled. "You thought I wouldn't upgrade my toys?"
As he tapped something on his glove, the pumpkin bombs that had been opened by Peter's web-bombs suddenly reversed direction and flew back toward him.
He had actually installed a tracking mechanism on the pumpkin bombs!
Peter fired several micro-webs again, slapping all the pumpkin bombs aside and sticking them to nearby buildings.
Fortunately, over the past year the Amazing Spider-Man had done plenty of modifications to his web-shooters, giving him many new offensive and defensive options.
Honestly, Peter really wanted to slap one of these things right into Harry's face—but these modified pumpkin bombs were clearly remote-detonated now, no longer simple timed explosives.
If he threw one at Harry, Harry could just throw it back. It was pointless.
Seeing the pumpkin bombs fail, Harry wasn't surprised.
He drew two curved blades from his legs, and his goblin glider roared to life beneath him, giving him a massive burst of speed as he shot straight at Peter.
Peter's eyes narrowed, and a cold smirk tugged at the corner of his mouth.
Yes, the mutated Green Goblin Harry had some strength. Combined with the glider and pumpkin bombs, he could attack, retreat, maneuver—he had plenty of tricks.
But he shouldn't have tried to fight Spider-Man up close.
Especially this Spider-Man—who had master-level combat skills.
As Harry lunged, Peter flipped his body, ending upside down with hands on the bottom and feet upward. He pushed off forcefully—
Wham!
His feet slammed into Harry's chest, knocking him clean off the glider.
Both of them dropped from a height of more than ten meters. Harry tried to counterattack, but Peter webbed his hands together and yanked him downward before stomping him again with both feet—
BOOM!
Harry plummeted straight into the concrete below, smashing into it with a heavy crash.
"Parker!" Even so, Harry's enhanced physique and armored suit kept him conscious—just immobilized for the moment.
He glared up at Peter and roared.
"Roar your head off." Peter reached back, fired a web, and snagged the rapidly approaching goblin glider, pulling it off course with a sharp tug.
The glider swerved wildly.
Peter yanked it toward himself, caught it, and plunged the side with the extending blade straight toward Harry on the ground.
Shhk.
With a grim metallic slice, the glider's blade stabbed into Harry's body.
Peter's aim had been precise—deep enough to pierce, but not enough to kill.
Just moments earlier, when he was about to finish Harry off, the Amazing Spider-Man's intent washed through him—he couldn't do it. Even after everything, the Amazing Spider-Man couldn't bring himself to kill Harry.
So Peter shifted the strike at the last instant.
And from their earlier exchanges, he knew Harry's Goblin armor had built-in regenerative functions that could repair the wearer's wounds to a degree.
This stab wouldn't kill him—but it would definitely keep him down.
But that brief delay allowed many Lizard-men to surround them from all directions.
Peter glanced at them.
Most of the Lizard-men were wearing shredded cloth remnants—faint outlines of police uniforms.
They were all police officers, just like Captain Stacy. Likely they came here to investigate for some reason—and Harry's group captured and transformed them all.
Peter had no desire to fight these unfortunate victims.
He already had a possible solution:
If he could find Dr. Connors, get the Lizard serum, and reverse-engineer an inhibitor, he should be able to restore all these officers.
But until then, they were trouble.
He couldn't bear to hit them—but getting hit by them would hurt.
Peter had no interest in fighting such a stifling battle.
The Lizard-men roared and lunged at him.
Peter leapt onto the building wall, sprinting upward at high speed.
The Lizard-men immediately followed.
Using their sharp claws, they climbed up the wall with powerful, bounding jumps—surprisingly fast.
"Spider!"
Vvvvmmm!
His spider-sense blared.
Without thinking, Peter twisted his body and leapt aside.
A massive blue bolt of electricity—thick as a water barrel—crashed down where he had been, blasting a huge hole in the wall.
If he hadn't reacted so quickly, he would have been fried to charcoal.
"Electro!"
Peter immediately recognized the attacker.
His name was Max Dillon, an electrical engineer at Oscorp. An accident had turned him into what he was now.
And he was starved for affection.
The Amazing Spider-Man had saved him once, but Spider-Man had saved so many people—and by the time they met again, Dillon's appearance had changed drastically. From human to "blue alien," so Spider-Man didn't recognize him at first glance.
And so, Electro's admiration turned to hatred—and he began targeting the Amazing Spider-Man.
Completely unreasonable.
