Today was a good day. I've just had a rather nice and pleasant date with Bee and gotten to know her more.
It was really interesting to find out what that lava lamp in her belly was. As it turns out, Bee produces her own honey whenever she eats anything, and any excess honey she produces gets teleported back to her home.
Well, as much as I would love to talk about her more, I've still got work to do. So, walking back into my office and opening the doors leading to it, I immediately saw Celestia on her own personal desk right beside mine.
Looking at her more, she seemed to have a rather happy smile on her face, unlike her usual professional one.
Walking towards her, I waved my hand and greeted her. Noticing me, she quickly got up from her desk and gave a bow—still doing that.
"You know you don't have to do that every time you see me, you know?" I tell my secretary.
"Of course, my lord, but I still like to do so," Celestia tells me.
"Well, whatever makes you happy," I tell Celestia, walking towards my desk and taking a seat. "So, any news regarding the meeting today?" I ask her.
"Yes, my lord." She picks up a clipboard and begins walking towards me and showing me the contents of the documents. "As you can see, my lord, Heaven has agreed to further push back the exterminations to a surprising two years—more than what we were asking of them," Celestia explained.
"Interesting… and Adam? He wasn't opposed to this?" I ask her.
"Well, regarding Adam, he seemed rather distracted during the meeting and would often stare and steal glances towards me, my lord. Of course, I didn't mind," Celestia explained.
"Oh… the First Man took glances at you. Tell me, Celestia, why is that?" I ask her with a grin.
"Oh… nothing, my lord. He just seemed rather interested in me, and Sera seemed to notice this and asked Adam to show me around Heaven," Celestia explained with the faintest blush on her face.
"So… like a date?" I asked her.
"You could call it that, but it was just sightseeing, nothing more," Celestia explained.
"Uh-huh. Well, so long as Adam doesn't hurt or try anything with you, it's fine."
"Well… if you don't mind, my lord, would it be alright for me to visit Heaven this weekend? I promised Adam we would… go on a sort of… date," Celestia tells me, her blush growing a bit more.
I looked at Celestia, a bit shocked by the revelation, but quickly composed myself and spoke.
"Well… so long as you both wish, I won't stop you. In fact, enjoy your time with him. Maybe he could change for the better," I tell Celestia.
"Thank you, my lord, for allowing me to go. And I don't think there's anything wrong with Adam—maybe just a bit lonely."
"Maybe you're right, but in any case, enjoy your time," I tell her with a smile.
Celestia simply smiled and walked back toward her desk and started doing paperwork.
Looking down on my table, I scanned the piles of paperwork that needed to be sorted and filed, but just as I was about to begin, a small golden portal appeared above my table, and from it, a letter from Heaven appeared.
As it floated in the air above my desk, I simply grabbed it and slowly opened it. What could Heaven want so quickly after the meeting had finished?
Once I had fully opened the letter, an unfamiliar voice began to speak from within the letter itself.
"Greetings, crowned prince of Hell. It is our deepest gratitude and honor to be celebrating this momentous day with you," the voice spoke.
Okay, nothing too serious yet. Maybe they're just congratulating me for pushing back the exterminations.
"We, the Elders of Heaven, are more than happy to officiate and host this momentous occasion and allow even the Hellborn to come visit for this grand banquet."
Wait… an event? And what the hell are they planning that even Hellborn are allowed to visit?
"The ceremony will begin during the first day of the New Year. We hope you shall be ready by then. After all, one's marriage is the most joyous time of their lives. Sincerely, Heaven's Elders."
…
I'm sorry, what?
Marriage?
With who?
Who am I getting married to?
And what if I refuse?
Would they even allow me to refuse?
And worst of all… how do I tell Bee?
…
"My lord? Are you alright?" Celestia spoke, looking a bit concerned.
"Oh, it's nothing. It's just Heaven."
"Would you like to talk about it?" Celestia asked.
"…Not really, but if you don't mind, could you leave me alone here for a while? I need to think," I tell Celestia, turning my chair away from her and thinking of what to do next.
"Of course, my lord." Celestia replied with a worried look on her face before quickly leaving me.
Once I was alone in my room, I began to think of who could have possibly told Heaven's Elders that I was getting married.
It couldn't be anyone I knew here since Heaven doesn't really interact with anyone here besides the exterminations. Then who could possibly…
Emily…
She must've told someone in Heaven. She must've told some higher-up that we were getting married, and from their word, the spread that we were getting married. And what's worse, any Hellborn is allowed to come visit Heaven during that day.
And what's worse… I'm going to have to eventually tell Bee about this.
Sighing, I got up from my chair and looked out toward the city and started to think.
---
(Song start)
STYGIAN (spoken, panicked whisper):
Okay, Stygian… breathe…
You've faced wars, angels, bureaucracy—
But talking to Beelzebub?
Oh, that's REAL danger.
---
Verse 1
How do you tell a queen of sugar,
Sweet as honey, sharp as stings—
That you might be tied in holy knots
By one of Heaven's shiny beings?
Emily smiles like sunshine,
Has a halo cute as sin—
But this isn't love, it's politics,
A marriage I didn't ask to be in!
I'm pacing holes into the carpet,
I'm sweating glitter on my throne—
I'd rather duel a thousand angels
Than tell Bee I'm not fully my own.
---
Pre-Chorus
'Cause Bee's a firework in motion,
She's sparkles, venom, love, and light—
If I break her heart by accident…
She'll party-blast me into the night!
---
Chorus
How do I say this without dying?!
How do I break the news without crying?!
I don't want to hurt her,
Don't want her to snap—
But the Seraphim Council's got me
Trapped in their lap!
How do I say this without screaming?!
How do I tell Bee without her teaming
Up with six demon queens
To set the sky on fire?
I swear I'm not cheating—
Just stuck in Heaven's briar!
Ohhh, how do I say this…
Without dying tonight?
---
Verse 2
Now don't get me wrong, Emily's lovely,
She's sunshine wrapped in lace,
But romance isn't built on politics—
And she's a bit too… "holy grace."
While Bee is chaos dipped in honey,
Electric hearts and wild delight—
She's the song that makes Hell dance,
She's the queen of every night.
But Heaven's rules are stubborn,
And the Council's breathing down my neck—
"Marry Emily to keep peace!"
Are they TRYING to wreck
My life!?
---
Pre-Chorus
So picture me, a demon prince,
Stammering like I'm twelve—
Standing in front of Beelzebub
As my courage tries to melt.
---
Chorus
How do I say this without dying?!
How do I keep her wings from flying?!
She deserves the truth,
But she might combust—
And honestly? She probably SHOULD,
'Cause this whole plan's unjust!
How do I say this without disaster?!
Tell her Emily might be my "ever after"—
On paper, not in heart,
Just a diplomatic chain…
But Bee'll still hear "marriage"
And bring a hurricane.
Ohhh, how do I say this…
Without dying tonight?
---
Bridge
Maybe if I sing it?
No… too dramatic.
Write a letter?
Too cowardly.
Send a messenger?
Absolutely not—
They'd be dead before tea.
(sighs softly)
Bee, I don't want to lose you…
But I didn't choose this fate.
If Heaven wants a puppet,
Fine—
But my heart won't cooperate.
---
Final Chorus
So I'll say it without dying!
I'll hold her hand while I'm clarifying—
She's the fire I choose,
The chaos I crave—
Even if Heaven expects me
To stand there and behave!
I'll tell her straight, no more hiding—
I'll face her fury, no more skirting or sliding!
If Emily must be part
Of some celestial deal…
Then Bee will still be the one
I love for real!
Ohhh, I'll tell her everything—
Even if I'm dying tonight!
(big jazz hands flourish)
…Please don't kill me, Bee.
(Song end)
---
Suddenly, I heard someone clapping from behind me.
Turning, I saw Charlie with a giant smile.
Oh God… please help me.
---
I'm sorry, grandson, but you're on your own.
