Chapter 27 - OTKE Chapter 27: The Weight of Guilt

The pain in his body disappeared like fireworks. In Momonga's vision, the center of the room was occupied by a huge round table emitting obsidian brilliance and bearing the guild emblem, as well as forty-one luxurious seats surrounding the round table.

This was the room where the Supreme Beings collectively met to discuss. In this room, they had discussed countless tactics for ambushing enemies and plans for conquering hostile guilds.

Those scenes were as if they were still vivid in his mind...

"Bang!"

Momonga suddenly punched the round table without any warning. At the same time, the passive of the undead, forced calm, was activated, but the inexplicable anger still couldn't be suppressed.

"Bang!"

"Bang!"

"Bang!"

Successive loud noises echoed in this conference room. Forced calm seemed to have become a permanent skill, but it still couldn't make Momonga's anger disappear.

Momonga couldn't say what he was angry about. Was it because the glory of the past had been frustrated? Or was it because he was ambushed? Or was it because of fear...?

Perhaps all three were there, but if you asked what proportion these three emotions accounted for, although Momonga was unwilling to admit it, it was probably more fear.

He was originally worried that level 100 was a common thing in this world. Therefore, both for the sake of Touch Me's belief and to confirm what his strength was in this world, he would rescue Carne Village.

But...

"Damn it!"

Momonga smashed the table again. The obsidian-made table didn't move at all. Anger and fear filled his heart. Such a watertight ambush was originally the specialty of their "Ainz Ooal Gown."

The guild's brainy player, "Punitto Moe," came up with ideas, and the guild members were able to successfully PK players without any effort. "Punitto Moe" had even written a book called "PK Techniques That Anyone Can Easily Learn."

This book was read by the guild members, and using the knowledge in the book, the guild members were invincible in PK. But not everyone followed the guidance and suggestions in the book.

It was also because they didn't strictly follow that guidance and suggestion that "Ainz Ooal Gown" became a notorious guild.

In that book, Punitto Moe wrote, "Sometimes you have to return the drops of the PKed opponent to the other party. It is necessary to take action so that the other party doesn't hold a grudge."

If everyone did this, and didn't do things too absolutely, they probably wouldn't be resented.

Although Punitto Moe had protested against the guild members' actions.

But someone had seen through his real intention in writing this sentence.

"Actually, you're just a coward. Come on, this is just a game. Can they kill you?"

Punitto Moe didn't argue because the other party was right. He was just a coward. He had said to Momonga that it was more like being a coward than being cautious.

So afterwards, he never mentioned this matter again, and the behavior of "Ainz Ooal Gown" became more and more strange, and they quickly accumulated a considerable fortune.

Momonga fell into memories. Everything was so beautiful back then. Even if there were strong enemies, there were still guild partners to resist the enemies together. But now...

Now...

"Bang!"

No matter how he beat the obsidian table, he couldn't calm his emotions.

Momonga knew that "Ainz Ooal Gown" had been playing the role of bad guys in PK all along, and he was even more addicted to role-playing, faithfully playing the image of a villain.

Apart from the guild members, whether it was language or style of action, he was an unforgivable thug.

And one of the reasons why he went online at the last moment of the game was to stand guard to the end. Because of the past evil deeds and the guild's strength, the 1500-person subjugation returned in defeat, causing them to be even more resented.

Therefore, at this last moment, there might be those angry players who would come to subjugate Nazarick.

To prevent his companions' efforts from being destroyed at the last moment, Momonga stayed behind to the end.

"Damn it!"

Momonga smashed the table hatefully again. At this time, his angry emotions were finally eliminated by forced calm, but fear was still there.

"Hmm?"

Suddenly, Momonga was stunned because someone had sent him a message. He immediately connected, and then an anxious voice entered his mind. The voice was so loud that it seemed to lift his skull.

"Ainz-sama! Is that Ainz-sama? Where are you? Are you okay? What happened? Speak, Ainz-sama!"

Albedo's voice startled Momonga, and even forced calm was triggered.

"Albedo?" Momonga said.

"It's me, Ainz-sama. How are you? Are you okay? Where are you now? What happened?" Albedo repeated the question just now, but this time she was obviously much more relaxed, with a hint of crying.

"I'm fine, in Nazarick. Are you in danger? Where are you?" Momonga also wanted to know what the situation was like on Albedo's side.

He didn't know anything about the situation at the time, and he didn't even know the appearance of the enemy, but he could sense that the other party had used Time Stop magic, and then he was killed.

Maybe Albedo knew some clues about the enemy.

"That's great, Ainz-sama. It's great to know that you're okay. I seem to have been teleported to the forest next to Nazarick," Albedo choked and reported her situation.

"Forest?" Momonga was stunned and then began to ponder.

He originally thought that the other party would kill him first and then deal with Albedo. As a magic caster, if he didn't do any defensive strategies in advance, it was almost impossible to pass a move in the hands of a warrior.

But now it seemed that this wasn't the case. The other party should have isolated Albedo and himself before killing him.

Momonga couldn't understand why the other party would do this. There were clearly two people. One person could entangle Albedo, and the other could kill him, and then they could work together to deal with Albedo.

Albedo didn't have a super rare resurrection ring. If she died, the divine artifacts on her body would definitely drop. Was it because he was worried...?

"Albedo, where are Aura and Mare?" Momonga suddenly thought of the elf twins. They would be in danger if they fought against a warrior and a magic caster.

Mare was the strongest guardian of wide-area annihilation in Nazarick, but this didn't mean that he was strong in PVP. And Aura was the strongest guardian of group battles in Nazarick. Similarly, she was relatively weak for PVP.

In terms of professional expertise, the elf twins were restrained by the two enemies who had assassinated him.

Could it be that the target of the other party from the beginning wasn't him and Albedo, but Aura and Mare? They all held divine artifacts.

Analyzing the enemy's actions, they seemed to know that Albedo was difficult to deal with, and he, as a player, couldn't drop any equipment, so they wanted to exclude them first. And then turn around to kill the elf twins, who were relatively easy to kill.

If that was the case, then these two enemies must be extremely familiar with Nazarick. Could it be that they were players who hated "Ainz Ooal Gown" and came to this world?

"Ainz-sama, Aura and Mare are by my side. They were teleported to this forest like me," Albedo said.

"Eh? Eh!"

Momonga was stunned. He had guessed wrong.

Then, he needed to re-evaluate his guess about the identity of the enemy.
