Chapter 78 - Chapter 77: Softening Up

"Your will is too scattered, not concentrated enough."

So the rumors about the Green Lantern Corps inevitably failing when facing three or more were true; Dane had some suspicions about this.

"I know your Green Lantern Corps draws power from will, but in multi-person team battles, your performance doesn't seem to be satisfactory."

"Is it possible that when you have teammates nearby, you subconsciously feel you have backup, and thus your willpower is unconsciously weakened?"

The three Green Lanterns trembled at his words, looking up at Dane.

"Tell me, if I kill you all until only one remains..."

Dane said with a terrifying smile, "Will that person be so scared they turn and run, or will they be strong enough to kill me on the spot?"

"That seems worth a try."

Hal scratched the back of his head, his expression a bit strange: "Dane's words, he must be joking... right?"

But looking at his joyful expression, he suddenly wasn't so sure.

However, the three Green Lanterns dared not gamble. Kilowog roared furiously: "You wish!"

He stomped and shot into the sky, his speed surprisingly much faster than before.

"Not bad, not bad, this intensity is passable."

Dane flew backward, his White wizard robe flapping wildly in the strong wind.

The White hem of his robe was right before Kilowog's eyes, but he couldn't grasp it no matter what.

"But it's still not enough."

Dane sighed, and Mercury's divine speed activated. He flew to Kilowog's side in a state of time stasis.

He punched him on his large head.

Kilowog was sent flying by the punch, skipping across the sea surface diagonally.

Hal, in the distance, swallowed, his throat moving.

"That punch felt heavier than a human's punch."

Kilowog was not like Hal, a new Green Lantern with little experience; he was a veteran Green Lantern powerhouse.

He was constantly covered by the Green Lantern's protective energy, almost forming a bodily instinct.

But this instinct couldn't make him last much longer against Dane's attack; the green lantern energy shield was easily broken.

"Kilowog!!!"

The fish-faced Tomar-Re shouted and flew up, with Boudicca quickly following suit.

This was a formidable enemy that required their combined, full-strength effort!

Tomar-Re materialized two huge mechanical gauntlets in his hands, with elbow parts pumping like hydraulic presses.

He quickly came before Dane and punched with both hands simultaneously.

Dane grabbed them one with each hand, but it wasn't over; the accelerators on the two gauntlets spun rapidly, adding a second burst of power to the punches.

Bigger, stronger!

But Dane was as steady as a mountain; Tomar-Re used all his strength but couldn't make him retreat a single step!

But just then, Boudicca descended from the sky.

Utilizing gravitational potential energy, she materialized a sharp spear, pointing directly at Dane's head.

"Why do you Green Lanterns always like to materialize cold weapons?"

Dane shook his head, exerted force with both hands, lifted Tomar-Re, and positioned him with his back to the descending spear tip.

Boudicca quickly changed direction, brushing past them.

Dane spread his arms, leaving his opponent's center open, and kicked Tomar-Re away.

At this moment, he looked down and saw a strong current of Water suddenly surge from the sea, forming the shape of a snake.

It opened its mouth wide and swallowed Dane.

It was Boudicca; she forcefully squeezed her willpower, making the current spin faster and more intensely, trying to make Dane unable to cope.

"Kilowog! Quick!"

Kilowog roared skyward, and a dense green light bloomed in his hand.

He pointed his hand, and a fist-thick beam of green laser erupted from his ring.

The beam directly struck the Water column. Boudicca released her control over the Water and also unleashed a powerful force of will.

She pointed her hand in Dane's direction, and a green laser also struck Dane.

Tomar-Re, in the sky, naturally didn't want to be left behind. He unleashed a green light with the greatest willpower of his life, shooting at Dane with a strong desire to kill him.

The three beams converged at Dane, and the intense energy finally made his divine body feel something.

"This feeling isn't even pain."

Yes, the Shazam body has very high resistance to energy; the so-called magic resistance is actually energy resistance.

Just like Superman's resistance to physical attacks, Shazam's resistance to energy-based attacks is also bug-level, so the green lantern energy ray attacks...

They simply don't hurt at all.

"You'd really be better off attacking me physically."

At least Superman's punches, if he took one squarely, he would feel pain, but he felt these three probably couldn't reach that level.

green lantern energy is more reliable when used for creating objects; energy attacks alone cannot harm him.

"Your killing intent is vulnerable."

Dane leaped upwards, rocketing into the clouds like an arrow released from a bow.

Tomar-Re looked at the unharmed Dane in horror, and fear couldn't help but arise within him.

As fear arose, his willpower weakened, and the intensity of his green lantern energy significantly decreased.

His ray hitting Dane's chest was no different from splashing Water on him.

Dane reached out, his palm directly gripping Tomar-Re's face, dragging him as he continued to fly forward.

Tomar-Re, whose courage had already been shattered, was utterly incapable of any effective response.

He let his face be gripped by Dane, his body still wildly flailing in the air behind him due to inertia.

He had already lost control of his body.

"Toma!!!"

Kilowog and Boudicca lost their target and could only watch helplessly as Toma was captured by the enemy.

They gave chase but could never catch up to the enemy's Shadow.

Remembering Dane's earlier words about killing them until only one person remained, both of them felt a sudden tightening in their hearts.

Boudicca subconsciously looked at Kilowog. She was a loyal follower of Sinestro, and naturally, she was also a member of the Yellow Lantern Corps secretly designated by him.

She must not die in this place!

If necessary, she could only sacrifice Kilowog.

Then she would report to the Guardian Council, saying that Hal disobeyed Corps orders and violated regulations by killing two Green Lanterns, and that would be that.

But she hadn't realized that Dane actually had no intention of killing them.

He wasn't a bloodthirsty maniac; why would he kill for no reason?

Teaching these soldiers from the Green Lantern Corps a lesson was only because he was unhappy with their condescending attitude.

Oh, so you're advanced in technology, is that something to be proud of?

Does that mean you can enter someone's home without the Master's permission?

As one of the Guardians of this Planet, Shazam had sufficient status and reason to teach them a lesson.

But that was all.

He threw Tomar-Re towards Hal, like throwing a baseball.

"Catch him!"

Hal paused for a moment before frantically spreading his arms.

"What... Wait!"

With a bang—! Tomar-Re crashed directly into his arms, sending Hal flying back several hundred meters.

When he finally stopped, he felt as if his chest had been hit by a blunt object.

And Tomar-Re had already lost the ability to resist; his willpower was dimmer than ever before.

Those who hadn't directly faced Dane would not understand this feeling of powerlessness.

Boudicca, flying in from a distance, saw this and her eyes flickered.

She suddenly felt that the other party didn't seem to have as much malice as he had shown.

Only Kilowog, still foolishly, charged straight ahead, still wanting to continue fighting Dane.

Dane didn't humor him either. He generally didn't use fighting techniques, because even wild punches could kill people.

Did Saitama's consecutive normal punches require any skill?

So when Dane landed nearly a hundred punches in one second, even if he didn't use much force...

But Kilowog was still knocked into a state of shock, his body falling directly into the ocean.

During this process, Boudicca made no moves at all.

She neither continued to attack Dane, nor did she catch Kilowog, nor did she intend to rescue Tomar-Re.

She just stood there, hands spread open, indicating she had no hostility.

Dane waved a hand, and the power of magic shaped the seawater, forming a large hand of water that caught the falling Kilowog.

He glanced at Boudicca with a hint of deeper meaning; this female alien seemed different from the two Green Lanterns.

Dane smelled a conspiracy, and the scent of betrayal...
