I'm taken aback by her calm, yet savage reply. My heart takes a dip with a chiding ache as her words call out my shameful reaction to the whole matter.
I open my mouth to counter but I could only manage to voice out a "what?" As though her words didn't clearly make my ears.
She looks at me, still calm with no malice or whatsoever on her face.
"Have being cooped up in your little hole impaired your hearings now?"
No amount of verbal description can express the way my face flares red in embarrassment. Not only is she being so different from the Leiara I usually know, she's being too bold and cocky with her words.
My eyes flicker to her nurse to see his reaction whether he's mocking me, but the man's as stunned as I am.
His eyes are fixed on Leiara, surprise etched clearly on his features.
Good. I was starting to doubt what my own eyes were seeing. Had I not just confirmed it from the nurse, I'd have concluded I'm still too in my head and being overly paranoid.
