Chapter 11 - Accepting New Trial (1).

"What a nice blade; this one is much better than my rusty knife in terms of sharpness alone."

Looking at the rusty knife in his other hand with dissatisfaction, Naib still ended up putting it to his waist, where he usually hid it.

Although he already has something better on him, having an extra knife on him wouldn't do him bad; instead, it would only give him an extra layer of protection.

Moreover, even though the rusty knife was already old and its sharpness was also questionable, the thing had already been accompanying him for a couple of years; hence, Naib was quite reluctant to throw it.

It could be said that, excluding Jerome and several people, Naib can only trust his weapon... A thing that was proven based on his experience.

At the same time, while Naib was crudely waving the dagger in his hand toward the empty space in the distance, a sudden notification appeared in front of all survivors throughout the world—eliciting various emotions from the masses.

Although the words that the notification contained were simply too short, it still sent all beings throughout the world into an uproar.

Some feel fear and despair upon seeing the notification, while others celebrate upon seeing it, especially those people who had opened the box gifted by the system.

"A new feature?"

Not putting much thought into the notification, Naib immediately opened his panel.

Sure enough, after opening it, Naib immediately saw the additional quest tab beside his inventory, causing him to click it curiously.

...

Seeing the long list of trials in the panel, Naib couldn't help but raise his brows in surprise, not expecting that their number would easily reach a hundred.

Moreover, their locations are also quite near, with the nearest being at 1 kilometer and the farthest being at 10 kilometers, which is probably the only part that the panel shows him.

"We need to participate in trials... Getting the rewards is the only way to ensure our survival!'

Thinking of it, Naib immediately faced the two who had just received their rewards from the panel.

"Let's go; pack everything you deem necessary from your place, preferably if it's a first aid kit, weapons, and food, then meet me on the first floor of the first building."

Saying those words toward the two without explaining again, Naib immediately heads toward the first building, planning to take some items with him before heading toward the next trial.

"Naib, wait! Why are we leaving? Isn't it best if we wait for the authority to arrive?"

Exchanging glances with Hans, Jerome limply chased after Naib, wondering why the latter suddenly commanded them to pack up their things.

"Isn't it better to wait for the authority to arrive?'

Although those abominations were bizarre, Jerome doubted that they could defend themselves against weapons like guns and rifles.

Unbeknownst to Jerome, all the military bases and police stations throughout the world suffered the most when the statues came to life. Instead of the initial F-grade difficulties that normal people have on their trials, people at the military bases and police stations were battling an E to D grade trials!

In the face of those abominations, guns and rifles only offer a weak threat! To the point of being useless; hence, waiting for them to be saved by the authority would be futile.

Sigh~

Not caring about the corpses that lay upon the hallway of every floor and the sticky crimson blood that chaotically spread throughout the walls and ground—a product of the onslaught earlier—Naib soon entered his room.

Not wasting time, Naib packed all the items that he deemed necessary, including two cans of processed foods, before directly going back to the first floor, looking at the panel of the system while waiting for the two to arrive.

"You—have you killed the entity who killed my husband?"

However, while patiently waiting for Hans and Jerome to arrive, a sudden, eerie voice, devoid of any emotions, suddenly echoed behind the staircase of the first floor.

There, standing in the dim surroundings, the bloody Ms. Hazel, with mud covering her hands and soles while holding a butcher knife in her right hand, greeted Naib's sight, instantly causing the latter to feel a chill all over his body upon only noticing the woman nearby.

It could be said that Naib had already been waiting at his location for more than 5 minutes, yet he hadn't noticed the existence of the other party at all!

If the other party didn't speak, he wouldn't even notice her existence! Making him wonder how she could have achieved such a state.

However, despite his initial surprise, Naib immediately backed down by a meter—his left hand suddenly rested on his waist while his other hand hid behind his back, planning to summon his newly acquired dagger if the other party showed strange movement.

"If you're talking about the 'Tsanak,' then yes, we managed to kill it in exchange for injuries."

"Hehehe~ I see, then I owe you one!"

Seemingly not caring about Naib's unconcealed movement, Ms. Hazel unfolded a warm smile on her face—a smile that was too awkward, to the point that it caused Naib to shiver in fright—before slowly heading toward the entrance of the abandoned school.

While passing the empty shrine, Ms. Hazel released a giggle filled with anger as she suddenly waved her hand, which was holding a butcher knife, toward the foundation of the empty shrine, creating a long cut before continuing on her way.
