No place in the magical realms matched its trickery, its illusions, or its temperament. The grove was alive, breathing through shifting shadows and glimmering lights that flickered across the grass like dancing illusions. The flowers in this place did not behave like ordinary plants. They appeared, disappeared, moved, hid, reformed, and reshaped themselves as if they were living spirits playing games with wanderers.
We spent what felt like hours following lavender blossoms that shimmered beautifully in the moonlight, only to vanish the moment we stepped too close or said a single word.
Lucian grew irritated.
"This grove is mocking us," he muttered, glaring at the empty space where a lavender stalk had been seconds earlier.
But no matter what we tried, the flowers kept shifting away.
