Chapter 572 - The Meeting

The atmosphere in the central guild changed the moment the main doors were closed.

The sharp sound echoed through the vast hall, cutting through the low conversations that still lingered. There was no need to ask for silence. It simply happened. Natural, immediate.

Everyone understood.

It was the beginning.

The structure at the center of the hall drew attention. An elevated platform had been prepared, wide enough to accommodate several important figures. It wasn't improvised. This had been planned for some time.

"So they already knew," Elara murmured.

"Or they were waiting for confirmation," I replied.

Lyannis crossed her arms, watching with interest.

"This got serious fast."

"It was already serious before," said Liriel.

Scarlett kept her gaze fixed on the platform.

"Now it's visible."

Rai'kanna said nothing, but her posture shifted slightly. Attentive.

A few seconds later, movement.

Figures began to step onto the platform.

First, representatives of the central guild itself. Recognizable by their formal attire and rigid posture. Right behind them, other individuals began to take their places.

And that's when the weight of the meeting truly revealed itself.

Elves.

Their presence was unmistakable. Tall, elegant posture, sharp gaze. They weren't there in large numbers, but enough to make a statement.

"So it's true," said Elara.

"Yes," I replied.

Soon after, another presence.

Denser.

Heavier.

Demi-dragons.

Rai'kanna watched closely as they appeared. There was no exaggerated reaction, but it was clear that it meant something to her.

"They came," Lyannis said in a lower tone.

"Of course they did," replied Liriel. "They're being attacked too."

The platform continued to fill.

Other figures, from different regions and origins, completed the group. They weren't just representatives. They were leaders.

People who made decisions.

The silence in the hall solidified completely.

Then, one of the central guild members stepped forward.

His voice echoed firmly, effortlessly.

"Everyone here knows the reason for this summons."

Direct.

No introduction.

"Isolated reports are no longer coincidences. Coordinated attacks have been confirmed in multiple regions."

Some low murmurs arose, but quickly faded.

"The pattern is clear."

He paused briefly.

"We are facing an enemy mobilization."

The word hung in the air.

Mobilization.

It was no longer speculation.

It was confirmation.

I looked around.

No one seemed surprised.

But that didn't make the weight any lighter.

"Elven borders have been pressured," he continued. "Human villages have suffered repeated attacks. Demi-dragon territories have recorded direct incursions."

Rai'kanna crossed her arms.

"So it's reached this point," she said quietly.

Scarlett kept her gaze steady.

"They're advancing."

The figure on the platform continued.

"These attacks are not aimed at immediate conquest."

He looked directly at the hall.

"But at testing."

Silence.

"Testing response."

Lyannis let out a quiet breath.

"Makes sense."

"Yes," I replied.

Liriel added,

"They're measuring strength."

Elara nodded.

"And organizing their next move."

On the platform, another representative stepped forward. An elf.

His posture was calm, but his gaze carried tension.

"Defenses in the forests have already been reinforced," he said. "But it is not enough to stop a full-scale advance."

Shortly after, a demi-dragon took the floor.

His voice was deeper.

"Our territory has already suffered losses. Small, but consistent."

Rai'kanna looked away for a brief moment.

"That confirms it," she said.

Scarlett observed.

"Yes."

The meeting wasn't an exchange of opinions.

It was the construction of reality.

Each statement added a piece.

Each piece reinforced the overall picture.

The first representative spoke again.

"We are not here to discuss whether there will be war."

He paused briefly.

"We are here to define how we will face it."

The weight of the sentence was immediate.

No room for doubt.

No room for retreat.

The hall remained silent.

But it wasn't an empty silence.

It was focus.

Processing.

Acceptance.

I looked around once more.

Adventurers.

Leaders.

Survivors.

Everyone there understood what it meant.

And, unlike other situations…

No one tried to deny it.

No one tried to minimize it.

Lyannis tilted her head slightly.

"This is going to escalate fast."

"Yes," I replied.

Scarlett took a deep breath.

"But at least now it's clear."

"Clarity helps," said Elara.

"Even when it doesn't change the problem."

Liriel kept her posture firm.

"But it changes how we deal with it."

On the platform, more details began to emerge.

Maps were opened.

Routes indicated.

Attack points marked.

It was organization.

Planning.

Coordination.

All happening there.

In front of everyone.

Rai'kanna watched every detail closely.

"This isn't improvised," she said.

"No," I replied.

"They started before we even knew."

"Yes."

Understanding deepened.

That war was already underway.

The meeting wasn't the beginning.

It was the response.

One of the representatives spoke again.

"We need total unity."

He looked around.

"No divisions. No internal disputes."

Lyannis let out a soft laugh.

"Good luck with that."

"Even so, it's necessary," said Elara.

Scarlett nodded.

"If they don't… they'll lose before it even begins."

The speech continued, but the essential part was already clear.

There were no more doubts.

No more assumptions.

Reality had been defined.

I turned my gaze back to the group.

No hesitation.

No doubt.

Only focus.

I took a deep breath.

That meeting wasn't the end of something.

It was the beginning of a different phase.

More direct.

Heavier.

More inevitable.

And, for the first time…

Everyone was looking at the same point.

War was no longer a distant shadow.

It was there.

Right in front of everyone.

And no one could ignore it anymore.
