======================================

The moment Rias finished chewing her out, she bolted out of the ORC building like her life depended on it because, honestly, it kind of did. If Rias found out she left a fallen angel corpse somewhere random in town, Sun Jing wasn't sure if she'd be executed or grounded.

When she reached the spot, her eyes scanned the area. "...Thank god." Either the world's luckiest miracle had happened, or Sun Jing had someone from above looking out for her.

Sun Jing grabbed Dohnaseek's corpse by the collar and dragged him deeper into a secluded patch of trees, far enough that no one would stumble across it by accident. Once she was sure she was alone, she let out a breath and pulled Wado Ichimonji from her inventory.

She stared at the dead fallen angel for a moment, her expression blank. "Yeah... sorry. This is on me."

Black flames ignited around the blade. "Enchant: Hellblaze." She drove the katana down, and the black fire erupted instantly, swallowing the corpse whole. Within seconds, Dohnaseek was gone, reduced to nothing, not even ashes remained.

Sun Jing sheathed Wado and stared at the empty ground. "...Okay. Problem solved."

She turned around and ran back toward Kuoh Academy, hoping she could make it before Rias decided to personally hunt her down.

By the time she reached the school gates, the sun was already beginning to dip.

As she rushed past the sidewalk, someone suddenly grabbed her arm.

"Now where do you think you're going?"

Sun Jing stopped so abruptly she nearly tripped. She turned her head and found herself face-to-face with Aika, who had latched onto her arm like they were already a couple. Their arms were looped together, and Aika's expression was half smug, half suspicious.

Sun Jing blinked at her. "…Um. To the Occult club I'm a part of?" she answered.

Aika narrowed her eyes. "And why are you running like a criminal?"

Sun Jing coughed. "Because I'm late."

Aika leaned in closer. "Late for what?"

Sun Jing sighed, then decided the easiest way out was the most direct one.

"Listen… if this is about a second date," she said, "I promise I'll take you somewhere nice this weekend."

"…Wait, what? Really?" Aika says surprised.

Sun Jing raised an eyebrow. "Yeah. You did say you wanted another one, right?"

Aika's cheeks turned slightly pink, and her grip on Sun Jing's arm tightened just a little.

"O-oh… I mean… yeah! Obviously I did!"

Sun Jing nodded casually, like she hadn't just thrown Aika's heart into orbit.

"Then just text me later where you want to go," Sun Jing said. "I'll take you. But I have to go now."

She gently unhooked their arms, took a step back, and gave her a quick wave.

Aika stood there stunned.

Sun Jing turned around and sprinted off toward the old school building, disappearing before Aika could even get another word out.

Aika stared after her, face flushed. "…That girl is seriously unbelievable."

{At the ORC}

Sun Jing stepped through the front door of the Occult Research Club.

"…Hm? Where'd they go?" she asked when she noticed Rias and Akeno were nowhere in sight.

"They had some business to take care of," Kiba answered.

Sun Jing nodded once. "I see. Then Issei—" she turned toward him, "we going or what?"

"Yeah."

"Good. I'll head out first and scout the church." She walked toward the open window and paused. "Don't leave me waiting too long… or I'll just handle the whole thing myself."

Before anyone could respond, a small cloud of smoke puffed around her. When it cleared, a strawberry-red fox stood where she had been, it's tail swaying lightly behind her. Her magenta eyes flicked toward them one last time before she leapt onto the windowsill.

"…Well," Koneko said flatly, "that's new."

Kiba folded his arms and turned his attention to Issei. "You're really going?"

"Yep." Issei didn't even blink. "And there's no point in trying to stop us."

Kiba's expression hardened slightly. "You're going to get killed. Just because Sun Jing is there doesn't mean she can always protect you."

Issei clenched his fists. "I can deal with that. As long as I can get Asia out of there."

Kiba stared at him for a long moment.

"That's very brave," he said quietly. "Very stupid too. This is suicide for you."

"It's none of your business!" Issei shot back.

As the tension thickened, Issei's eyes dropped to the sword at Kiba's side.

"…I'm coming with you."

Issei blinked. "What?"

"I can't let you run into enemy territory alone. That would reflect poorly on me."

"I guess I'll tag along too." Koneko says.

Issei stared at her. "Wait—You too, Koneko?"

"There's nothing else going on," she replied simply. "Might as well."

Kiba gave a small smile. "With the four of us, we should have no problem saving your friend."

Issei swallowed, then nodded. "Let's go."

{Later that night – The Church}

The old church loomed in the darkness, tall and silent against the moonlit sky.

Issei, Kiba, and Koneko crouched in the bushes near the outer wall, trying—somewhat unsuccessfully—to be stealthy.

"Alright," Issei whispered. "Sun Jing said she'd be around here—"

"What took you guys so long?"

Issei screamed a high-pitched shriek.

He spun around and nearly fell backward only to find Sun Jing standing right behind them with her hands in her hoodie pockets, looking mildly amused.

"What the hell, man?!" Issei grabbed the front of her hoodie. "You almost gave me a heart attack!"

"Uh… my bad?" Sun Jing gently pried his hands off. "Also, stop yelling."

She tilted her head toward the church.

"There's no need to sneak anymore. They already know we're here."

Koneko stood up immediately. "That's good."

She walked straight up to the massive double doors of the church without hesitation.

"Let's hurry up and do this."

She kicked the doors open and they exploded inward with a thunderous crash, flying off their hinges and slamming against the interior walls.

Sun Jing let out a low whistle as she stared at the knocked down doors. "…Remind me to never get on her bad side."
