{Somewhere near the back of the church}
High above the church grounds, a girl sat lazily on a tree branch, kicking her legs back and forth while staring up at the night sky.
Her blonde twin-tails bounced with every movement, and the frilly black-and-white Gothic Lolita dress she wore rustled against the leaves. White thigh-high socks, garter suspenders, polished black shoes, and a massive bow on her head completed the outfit.
Mittelt, one of the fallen angels assigned to guard the church, sighed loudly.
"Ugh, this is the worst!" she groaned. "Standing guard is the most boring thing ever!"
She leaned back on the branch dramatically.
"Why do I always get the lame jobs?!"
Just as she continued complaining, a crimson glow appeared beneath the tree.
Then two figures emerged from it.
"Ohhh!" she perked up instantly, jumping down from the tree and landing in front of them. "Ask and you shall freaking receive!"
She struck a pose like an idol introducing herself.
"Hi there! I'm Mittelt, and I'm totally the most awesome fallen angel in the history of ever!"
Across from her stood Rias Gremory and Akeno Himejima.
Akeno lightly touched her cheek, smiling politely.
"This little girl is really into herself, isn't she?"
Rias crossed her arms calmly.
"My servant sensed that you were nearby," she said. "Since you're standing guard out here, your people must be worried about an attack."
Mittelt puffed out her chest smugly. "Worried? Nope! We're just in the middle of a super-duper top-secret ritual and we don't want you devils interfering."
Akeno giggled softly.
"Not to burst your bubble," she said sweetly, "but a couple of the younger members and a close friend of ours are probably already inside right now."
Mittelt froze. "They're what?!"
Her eyes bulged out of her sockets. "Are you flippin' kidding me?!"
"Nope~!" Akeno replied cheerfully. "And they were being quite discreet about it too. I'm surprised you didn't notice all the magical power being released near the entrance."
"Huh?"
She concentrated for a moment...
...and suddenly her eyes widened.
An enormous wave of magical pressure pulsed from the church.
"Holy shit!" she gasped. "There's absolutely no way one of your kind is doing that!"
"That's because it isn't a devil."
A new voice drifted down from above.
A tall, curvy woman with long navy-blue hair and brown eyes descended from the sky, landing beside Mittelt.
Her right eye remained hidden behind her hair as she looked toward the church.
"In fact," she continued calmly, "I'm quite sure the person releasing that power isn't even aware of it herself."
Mittelt spun toward her.
"Kalawarna?! What are you doing here?! This is my fight!"
Kalawarna sighed.
"Stop acting like a child. The faster we deal with these two devils, the faster we can go after the one who killed Dohnaseek."
Mittelt blinked again. "Huh? What are you talking about?"
Kalawarna looked at her like she'd just said something incredibly stupid. "Are you serious?"
She pointed toward the church. "The one who killed him is inside right now."
"The person we're all sensing that magical pressure from..."
{Inside the Church}
The interior of the church was dark, dusty, and silent.
Broken pews and cracked stone floors made the place feel abandoned.
Issei shivered slightly.
"This place is creepy."
Sun Jing kicked a loose pebble across the floor.
"More like a dump," she muttered. "First time being inside a place like this... not impressed."
The sound of slow clapping echoed through the empty hall.
A figure stepped forward from the shadows.
A young man with short white hair and unsettling red eyes. He wore priestly clothing.
"So," he said happily, "we meet again!"
His gaze passed over Issei, Kiba, and Koneko.
"Oh! And you even brought a friend!" His eyes locked onto Sun Jing with excitement. "How lovely!"
Sun Jing tilted her head.
"Hey," she muttered to Issei, "who is this bastard anyway?"
Issei clenched his fists. "That man... is Freed Sellzen. He's the one who took Asia last night."
"I see." Sun Jing says.
Freed suddenly clapped his hands together again.
"Oh! I know who you are!" he said, studying Sun Jing like a curious animal. "You're the one giving the fallen angels so much trouble!"
His grin widened. "Hell, you even killed one of them with a single arrow, didn't you?"
Sun Jing didn't look impressed.
Freed suddenly gestured toward a stairway leading downward.
"Your little friend is downstairs," he said casually. "So if the rest of you want to go ahead..."
Then he looked directly at Sun Jing again.
The smile on his face became deeply unsettling.
"...while me and Fairy girl here have the best fight of our LIVES!"
In a blur, he pulled out a pistol and small projectiles of light fired rapidly toward them. "The hell?!"
Sun Jing jumped sideways, dodging the shots while Kiba stepped forward, drawing Holy Eraser and deflecting several blasts with quick slashes.
Freed burst into manic laughter.
"COME ON!" he shouted. "LET'S FIGHT ALREADY!"
A blade of light formed in his hand as he lunged straight at Sun Jing.
"Fine then, you crazy bastard!"
Sun Jing pulled Wado Ichimonji from her inventory in one smooth motion.
The blades collided with a sharp metallic crash as the two fighters pushed against each other.
Sparks of light burst between them.
Sun Jing gritted her teeth.
"You three go on ahead and save Asia!" she shouted.
Behind her, the others hesitated for only a moment before running off.
Freed's laughter echoed through the ruined hall while beams of light from his pistol tore through the air. Wooden pews exploded into splinters as the projectiles struck them, sending fragments flying across the dusty floor.
Sun Jing darted from side to side, her movements quick and fluid as she avoided each shot. The flashes of light illuminated the dim church in bursts, revealing broken benches and cracked stone wherever the bullets struck.
"COME ON AND STOP RUNNING!" Freed shouted, his manic grin stretching across his face.
Sun Jing slid to a stop against a wall, clearly unimpressed. "You don't have to yell, you freak."
She planted her foot against the stone and launched herself forward, pushing off the wall with explosive force. As she moved, her hand reached for the hilt at her waist.
Wado Ichimonji flashed from its sheath.
"Cleave." The slash erupted outward.
A massive arc of invisible force ripped through the church like a blade swung by a giant. Stone, wood, and air itself seemed to split apart as the attack surged forward.
Freed's eyes widened, he twisted away at the last possible moment.
The attack missed cutting him in half by inches but his right arm wasn't so lucky.
A spray of blood burst into the air as his hand, still clutching the light gun, spun across the floor and landed with a dull thud.
The destructive slash didn't stop there.
It tore straight through the church wall, cleaving through the ground outside and carving a deep scar through the nearby woods.
Outside the church, Rias, Akeno, Mittelt, and Kalawarna all froze.
The earth split open in front of them as the shockwave blasted through the forest.
Branches snapped and dirt exploded upward.
"HOLY SHIT! WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT?!" Mittelt screamed, jumping back in terror.
Rias stared at the destruction with wide eyes. "...Sun Jing."
Back inside the church, dust and smoke slowly drifted through the air where half the building had just been obliterated.
Sun Jing stood there with her sword still extended. "...Whoops."
She blinked at the massive hole now occupying half the church.
"Okay... that might've been a little too much."
Her eyes shifted downward. Freed's severed hand lay on the floor nearby.
As the smoke cleared further, the exorcist himself came into view.
Freed was sprawled on the ground, staring in disbelief at the stump where his right hand used to be. Blood poured from the wound, staining the floor beneath him.
