After going past the raging field of Basan, the team found a place to take a rest. Dungeons are theorized to be a gate to another dimension, but the dungeon they're in right now didn't seem to be that different from a regular forest you can find outside.
Haemin looked up.
Even the clouds and sky are the same.
It's been half an hour since the hunters started setting up camp. He tried to offer his help numerous times only to get shut down.
In the end, they let Han Jiwon help them in his place.
I expected it, but they really don't like me, huh? Hmph, I didn't want to be here either, you know? Dammit. Shiro-yah, you never told me anything about a fire chicken!
He sighed heavily with his head almost wanting to hit the ground. Is it because of embarrassment? Or from the glares he received after the fight? Either way, Baek Haemin just wanted to dig the soil up and bury himself on the spot.
Everybody is moving except for him. If he tries to do something, they get suspicious. If he tries to offer his help, they get irritated.
Seriously, what am I supposed to do? I've never experienced anything like this even in the army. If only I had gotten here at the right time, I might have been able to do something. But what am I going to do when I transmigrate in the time between the prequel and sequel?
Get rich? But I'm already rich. Get awakened? I'm already a hunter. Get rid of the villains? Pfft. Yeah, right. One of them is my brother.
No, wait. Technically, Baek Raehwan is not really a villain yet. The only reason why he tormented Ryu Jinmu is because Baek Haemin died. If I don't die, then he wouldn't bother our main character, right? Then he won't have as much of a hard time than he did in the novel! If I stay put, and don't piss Ryu Jinmu, then I wouldn't die.
Moreover, if I just keep quiet inside the manor, then no more negative articles would be written about me. It means my reputation could recover over time!
Then, couldn't I just live peacefully with my riches without doing anything at all? Since Baek Haemin is already dead at the start of the second book, that means even if I don't do anything at all, it wouldn't matter! Actually, isn't it better if I don't do anything at all? Because then, the story wouldn't change!
I get to enjoy living in luxury, the public would forget about me, Baek Raehwan wouldn't do anything evil to Ryu Jinmu, resulting in Ryu Jinmu clearing the obstacles faster! That's right! As expected of me!
He stretched his back and grinned. Baek Haemin now knows what to do.
The best thing to do… is not do anything at all!
[System:
That's…]
Hmm? What? You showed up again?
Just then, a familiar hand holding a drink came to his vision. Han Jiwon smiled at him.
"Haemin-nim, here's your drink."
"Oh, thank you."
It's the same mango juice he always had since transmigrating to this world. His lips curled in satisfaction while having the refreshing drink.
Now that I got a game plan, this drink tastes even better. Hu hu, watch out, everyone. I'm about to live the dream life!
Ding!
[System:
You received a quest!]
[Quest Info:
There are hunters in need of treatment.
Heal at least 3 hunters to improve your reputation.
If you do not complete this quest, your heart will stop.
Number of hunters injured: 7
Number of hunters healed: 0/3]
"Pffffttt—!"
He spat out the juice in his mouth and coughed as if something was stuck in his throat.
"Haemin-nim?! Are you okay?"
Jiwon quickly patted his back and tried to comfort him.
"I, it's fine."
He waved his hand at her, and read a particular line in the quest info once more.
[If you do not complete this quest, your heart will stop.]
What are you talking about?! You're going to kill me if I don't heal them?! They don't even want me near them. What do you want from me, you damn system?!
He scratched his head in annoyance.
"Dammit, dammit…"
Haemin couldn't help but whisper curses at the system.
Just when I thought I didn't have to do anything, you interfered?! Fuck, don't ever let me catch you… Haa… No, calm down, Baek Seungho. I am a support hunter. Even if this damn system doesn't issue this quest, isn't it obvious that I'm bound to help the team anyway?
That's right. They commissioned me for this. The Blue Dragon Guild paid for this. It's just a given to heal when there's someone that needs healing.
Haemin sighed and looked around. The first thing he needs to do is look for someone who's injured. However, everyone was moving around fine.
There's no visible injury on anybody and no one's asking for healing.
At the same time, the team captain of Blue Dragon Guild's team 2 adjusted his armor. He put on gloves he got from his inventory and drank a jug of water.
Jihee, the mage, looked at him in worry.
"Captain, don't you need healing? If we don't treat it right away, it might get worse."
"I'm fine. There's no healer anyway."
Park Hanwoo, the team captain, shook his head.
Jihee frowned at him.
"What do you mean? We have that guy with us."
Park Hanwoo scoffed.
"That guy? You think he'd do anything about this? That brat would just laugh at me. I don't think I could pull my punches, so don't try to push me. Isn't that right, guildmaster?"
He turned to Ryu Jinmu, who was quietly wiping his sword.
Jinmu's gaze got directed at the man sitting in the corner while pulling his hair. He stood up and sheathed his weapon.
"No, he has to heal you. That's the agreement when he took this commission."
Hanwoo flinched. His guildmaster who refused to deal with the spoiled young master of the Baek family started walking towards the young man with light brown hair.
He called out to him,
"G, Guildmaster?"
Even Jihee got confused.
"Don't tell me… is he gonna ask him to heal you?"
Haemin covered his face while he pulled his hair. The system's quest just made things complicated for him. He didn't know how he would identify the injured hunters since they all looked fine.
Ugh, do I have to go to the center and shout, 'Those who need to be healed, line up!'? Would that work? Should I do that? It's embarrassing, but I don't want to die.
Step. step.
A shadow dawned on him, stopping his thoughts.
Baek Haemin lifted his head and saw a man with striking features. The main character of the novel, Ryu Jinmu.
His gaze was as cold as ever. Haemin didn't say anything as he watched him open his lips.
"Baek Haemin, go to work."
