Conquering a dungeon could take days, sometimes even weeks. That's why gathering a team of members you can put your trust in is important.
Hunters will encounter monsters after entering and roaming while looking for the dungeon's boss, so camping is a natural occurrence inside it.
Hunter guilds that have a set team of members usually form a camaraderie after overcoming difficulties time and time again in a dungeon. However, it doesn't usually apply to support hunters.
Because Blackmane Guild monopolizes the high-ranking support hunters in the country, the act of commissioning resulted in teams almost always changing their support hunters.
Although combat hunters do their best in protecting the hired support hunter, it couldn't truly be said that they feel a strong sense of comradeship as much as they do with their usual fellow team members.
Obviously, the same goes for the support hunters. They were paid to show up and they do their job, but they do not feel inclined to risk their life or exert their best effort for a team they were bound to work with only once in a while.
Even though combat hunters were much more popular in public, no one in Korea has ever looked down on them all because of the way Baek Raehwan built their importance.
One high-ranking support hunter is valued more than one high-ranking combat hunter.
That's why finding a haughty high-ranking support hunter was not unusual. The most well-known support hunter in the country, Baek Haemin, is infamous for not treating hunters if he's not in the mood to.
The A-Rank Support Hunter who was known to do more than just heal looked down on everyone who asked for his help.
That's the reputation of Baek Haemin.
The hunters of Blue Dragon's team 2 hid their injuries to avoid being mocked by that infamous Baek Haemin. They were prepared to endure as much as they could, as long as the spoiled young master of Blackmane Guild could leave them alone.
This is also the reason why when Ryu Jinmu agreed to commission him, he said one thing in front of Baek Haemin.
"He has to treat them, whether he wants to or not, if they do need it."
In return for being in the same space as him, Baek Haemin has to treat the members of the team if necessary.
Ryu Jinmu looked Baek Haemin in the eye.
"Do your job."
The Blue Dragon hunters gasped when they heard Ryu Jinmu speak. Their guildmaster approaching Baek Haemin on his own was something they had never imagined would happen.
Even if it was for the sake of the team, everybody knew that their guildmaster hated the bratty young master of Baek to his core. They silently watched the two, waiting for Baek Haemin's response.
On the other hand, Baek Haemin creased his brow.
Do your job? By job, he meant…
His eyes glimmered as he slowly realized the meaning of Ryu Jinmu's words. He eagerly grabbed the hand holding a sword and flashed a bright smile.
"That means you want me to heal someone, right?!"
You're a bit crazy, but to think you'd help me out of this quest! As expected of the main character!
Ryu Jinmu's face scrunched and slapped the hands that grabbed him. His eyes darkened as he glared, and grabbed the hilt of his sword.
"You bastard, I really ought to…"
"Wait, wait, wait! You got the wrong idea!"
Haemin quickly shook his head and stepped back.
This guy, did he think I grabbed his hand 'cause I like him?! That's definitely it, isn't it?! This psycho… Seriously, I just felt relieved! That's it!
He quickly explained,
"I, I just got too happy to heal, okay?! Just got too excited about it, I swear!"
Haemin waved his hands to appear harmless. Ryu Jinmu continued to glare at him and let go of his sword after.
He turned around and scoffed.
"Happy to heal, you say? You're not fooling anyone. Come, you'd better heal them properly unless you want to die."
"...y, yeah."
Dammit, this fucking asshole. Threatening me again? I'd heal them even without you telling me, okay?
Ryu Jinmu gathered the hunters who had injuries while Baek Haemin quietly followed behind him.
The seven hunters all frowned at the sight of Baek Haemin. Knowing his reputation, none of them could place their trust in him.
Ryu Jinmu spoke first.
"Heal them. As best as you could."
He said firmly to Haemin and sat down in a corner.
Baek Haemin sighed,
"Yeah, yeah. I got it."
Why are they acting like I won't? Seriously, why commission someone you don't trust? Are you an idiot? Hmph.
He peeked at the quest info in the air.
[Number of hunters injured: 7
Number of hunters healed: 0/3]
So they're all here, huh? I guess I should be glad that I didn't have to look for them myself. Anyway, system-ssi.
Ding!
[System:
Answer. Yes?]
Let's heal these guys and get it over with.
[System:
Answer. Understood.]
Haemin sat down and noticed that no one's getting closer. He tilted his head at the hunters and asked,
"Who's going first?"
"Uhm…"
"Ugh…"
"You go first."
"No way…"
The hunters only looked at each other. They whispered and tried to push each other but no one dared to actually step up.
It's not like I don't understand how you feel but I'm doing this to help, alright? I'm helping. Helping. What could a support hunter do to you guys anyway? Tsk. Your guildmaster even threatened me.
He glanced at Ryu Jinmu whose eyes were closed.
Hey, you bastard. If you're gonna sleep, do it after we're done here. Do something about your team!
Haemin's lips pouted as he glared at the guildmaster of Blue Dragon.
Ryu Jinmu opened his mouth with his eyes still shut.
"What are you doing? Heal them."
"What…?"
No, you want me to come to them? This guy…!
Baek Haemin wanted to scoff but stubbornly walked in the end. He stopped in front of the hunters and reached his hand out to one of them.
"Let me heal you."
The hunter stared at his hand for a moment and looked sideways. He gulped and said,
"Uhm, I, I'll be fine. I think she could go first!"
"Wha–?!"
The hunter pushed his colleague on his right to Baek Haemin. The female hunter holding a bow looked at him as if she just experienced one of the greatest betrayal in life.
Baek Haemin only stood there without saying anything.
These guys… what are you doing this for?
He reached his hand out to the woman, who flinched at his gesture. She covered her mouth with her hand.
"Uhm, you'll just heal me, right?"
Haemin looked at her, clearly confused.
"Yes."
What else am I going to do? Seriously…
The hunter clenched her eyes shut and her trembling hand slowly touched Baek Haemin's. She stopped once her fingertips made contact and avoided his eyes.
System, do it!
Ding!
[System:
Answer. Yes, understood.
Skill: Healing Hand (SS)
Activated.]
Baek Haemin smiled and immediately pulled her closer.
"Hold on—"
She blurted out.
Her eyes widened as golden light permeated from Baek Haemin's hands and the burns she got from the raging basans earlier vanished.
A tickling sensation could be felt from her palms, slowly engulfing her whole body.
"T, this is…!"
She looked closely at her hand and took off her armor. The injury reached up to her shoulders but none of it was visible.
I, I'm healed? Just like that? Really?
Lee Soomin, the archer, stared at Baek Haemin with her mouth wide open. This spoiled brat who refused to heal people even when they're dying if he's not in the mood…
…he healed me.
