Chapter 8 - Chapter 8 Mysterious Woman

With Tombstone's departure, Kingpin was the only one left in the room. With a gloomy expression, he leaned back in his executive chair and pulled a cell phone from the desk drawer—despite the desk itself having been smashed in two.

He dialed a mysterious number, and the call connected quickly.

A deep voice came from the other end: "You called me this late—do you have any good news to share?"

Kingpin didn't answer right away. After a brief pause, he spoke in a cold tone: "Events have spiraled beyond our control. A mysterious silver-haired woman appeared out of nowhere. Not only did she save Loren Morgan's life, but she also tracked down the gunman who shot the head of the Morgan family. They probably already know it was us.

So I've decided to raid Morgan Manor tonight and eliminate Loren Morgan ahead of schedule. But this operation won't be simple—I'll need your help."

"Fuck! You called me in the middle of the night just to keep me awake? A night raid on Morgan Manor? Are you serious? Ever since the head of the Morgan family was killed, the manor's been wrapped in three layers of defense. The security inside is practically military-grade. You really think you can just storm it at night? You'll get yourself killed, Kingpin. I always thought you were smart—but I never imagined you'd be this stupid."

Stung by the rebuke, Kingpin snapped back: "You'd better watch your tone. This isn't how you spoke when you first came to me. Back then, you called Loren Morgan a brainless fool—a waste of space—and said killing him would be as easy as slaughtering a chicken. What about that silver-haired female killer who just showed up?

She didn't just wipe out the men I sent—she flew all the way to Mexico and burned the drug lords' compound to the ground. With methods that brutal, you still have the nerve to call Loren a waste?

The fact that things have gotten this far is largely due to the faulty intelligence you provided—and you will be held accountable. Don't forget: you and I are in this together. If something happens to me, you won't walk away unscathed."

"You're threatening me!"

"I'm not threatening you—I'm stating a fact. But if you choose to see it as a threat, so be it. My advice? Figure out how to handle this properly."

There was a long silence from the other end. Finally, the mysterious man spoke again: "I understand what you're saying. I'll take care of it.

But until then—don't act rashly, and don't leak even a shred of information. If you do, not even God will be able to save you.

By the way… use the vials of potion I gave you earlier. Trust me—that stuff will help you get through this crisis. It's just one female killer. Nothing we can't handle."

"It's easy for you to say—your people aren't the ones dying. I won't waste any more words on you. I'm giving you one day. I expect to see you take action before tomorrow night—or our partnership ends right there."

With that, Kingpin hung up—without so much as a courtesy. After all, the man who rose to become the underworld emperor of the United States wasn't someone to be trifled with… even if the person on the other end of the line was no ordinary figure himself.

But if he couldn't even save his own life because of this incident, there was no reason to give the other party any face. He was going to die anyway—so who was afraid of whom?

In New York, a secret base lay hidden underground in a forest forty kilometers from the city. At that moment, a woman inside the base listened to the dial tone coming from her phone, her expression twisted in fury.

"It's incredibly rude to hang up on someone like that, Kingpin. You're becoming more insufferable by the minute. Just wait—I'll make you pay for this." Her fingers tapped lightly on the table, her voice dripping with arrogance.

After a brief pause, she summoned one of her subordinates. "Two things. First, investigate the silver-haired woman seen beside Loren. Second, Kingpin is no longer useful as a pawn—he doesn't need to exist anymore."

"Understood. I'll turn Kingpin into a corpse before dawn." The subordinate nodded and swiftly left the base, vanishing into the forest night in the blink of an eye.

Of course, Loren knew nothing of the conversation between Kingpin and the mysterious woman—or of their respective plans.

At that moment, he was immersed in his private laboratory, wholeheartedly assembling an anti-gravity drone. Thanks to a complete technical blueprint provided by the system, he'd saved countless hours on research and development.

All he needed to do now was fabricate the components according to the specifications and assemble them.

That might sound simple—but for an ordinary person, it would be as impossible as scaling the heavens.

Loren, however, was no ordinary man. As the eldest son of a top-tier chaebol family, he commanded billions in assets and controlled a vast network of companies, including military factories capable of producing advanced weaponry.

If he needed a part—even one he couldn't yet manufacture himself—he only had to speak a word, and dozens of his subsidiaries would race to produce it.

Thus, in less than half a day, he had gathered every component required for the anti-gravity drone.

That said, he personally crafted all the core elements himself—the anti-gravity module and the energy supply unit included—without letting anyone else near the process.

Consequently, even if the designs for the drone's non-essential parts were leaked, no one else could replicate a fully functional unit. That was the power of controlling the core technology.

Once all the pieces were ready, Loren immediately began assembling the drone. After meticulous work, a palm-sized device materialized before him and 2B.

"Boss, is this the anti-gravity drone you mentioned?" 2B asked curiously. "It looks so strange—more like a surveillance camera than a weapon. Is it really as powerful as you say?"

Since she wasn't the original 2B from her world, she had no prior knowledge of such technology.

"Yes," Loren replied. "Despite its odd appearance, this drone defies gravity and can fly at high speeds. With the current energy system, it can operate continuously for twenty-four hours.

"In addition to its speed and endurance, it's equipped with both a micro-barrel gun and a laser emitter, enabling long-range precision strikes—perfectly compensating for your lack of ranged combat capability.

"Once you deploy it, your combat effectiveness will reach new heights. How high? That's something you'll have to test yourself."

"Test it myself?" 2B's eyes narrowed slightly. "Boss, do you have a new mission for me?"

"Yes. I want you to go to the Kingpin Building immediately and pry the truth from him—by any means necessary."

"Understood. I'll move out at once."

Without hesitation, 2B sprang into action the moment she received her orders.
