The ninja with the code name "Ren" lowered his head. He didn't dare to anger Danzō.
"The other countries' Genin only lost one, and he was killed by the giant sword. That Uchiha brat is fine. So, the three I sent didn't complete their mission!"
Danzō shouted, his face turning red.
"Lord Danzō, please calm down," Ren said quietly.
"Calm down? How can I calm down? I sent two elite Chunin and one special Jōnin, and they were killed by other Genin in the Chunin Exams! How can I calm down!" Danzō shouted.
"Tanuki Shigaraki was killed by the giant sword, not by other Genin. So... his death was an accident," Ren said weakly.
"Accident my ass!" Danzō cursed. "That giant sword was so strange. This Chunin Exam is full of surprises, and I lost three Root ninjas!"
"Lord Danzō, getting angry won't help. We should investigate," Ren said quietly.
"Damn it, huff..." Danzō knew Ren was right and took a few breaths to calm down.
"I sent Tanuki Shigaraki and the others out with two missions: to test the Uchiha brat and to deal with the Genin from the other three countries. Who killed them...?"
Danzō looked at Ren and said, "Has Shin returned?"
"Yes, he's practicing ninjutsu in the training room," Ren replied.
"Did you notice anything strange when you followed him?" Danzō asked.
"No, but he seemed to argue with the Uchiha brat because he wanted to fight the kid from the Hidden Stone Village," Ren said.
"Hmm... call him to my office," Danzō said.
"Yes!" Ren nodded and disappeared.
Soon, Shin arrived at Danzō's office.
"Lord Danzō, you wanted to see me?" Shin asked, kneeling in front of Danzō.
"That's right. What happened in Team 8 after you entered the Forest of Death?" Danzō asked coldly.
Shin bit his lip. He had to answer carefully. If he wasn't careful, Danzō would find out that he betrayed him.
After we entered the Forest of Death, Kaoru threw the scroll to me. He said he would go ahead to clear the way. Later, I met a Genin from the Hidden Mist Village and fought him.
But the fight was interrupted by the giant sword. Then I was called out of the Forest of Death by the Anbu ninja, Shin said carefully.
"Is that so? That's strange. Why did the Uchiha brat go ahead alone?" Danzō asked.
"I don't know. Maybe it was because we argued, and he left in a huff," Shin said, lowering his head.
Danzō looked at Shin. "You said you argued with the Uchiha brat. Why?"
"Because... I wanted to teach that Hidden Stone Village ninja a lesson in the first exam, but he didn't let me. So we argued," Shin said.
"Shin, tell me the truth," Danzō said, narrowing his eyes. "You've been with me for years. You're not usually so impulsive."
Shin felt nervous. Danzō wasn't easy to fool.
"It's because that Hidden Stone Village ninja was too hateful. He was causing trouble in our Leaf Village, hurting our reputation. I couldn't stand it," Shin said.
Shin used the Leaf Village as an excuse. For Danzō, who craved power, the Leaf Village was the second most important thing after the Hokage position.
"Hmph!" Danzō snorted. "You said it was for the Leaf Village? Fine, I'll believe you. But you didn't see the Uchiha brat again after you entered the Forest of Death?"
"We only met at the end, and then we were called out of the Forest of Death by the Anbu ninja," Shin replied quickly.
"You met him at the end. Was he alone?" Danzō asked.
"No, he was with a Genin from the Hidden Mist Village. They were probably fighting when the giant sword appeared," Shin replied. He couldn't lie.
If Danzō asked the Hidden Mist Village Genin, and their stories didn't match, he would be finished.
"Is that so..." Danzō tapped the desk, thinking.
"Good, you can leave," Danzō said, his eyes turning cold. "Don't spill ink in my room again..."
Shin nodded and left Danzō's office.
"Were the Uchiha brat and the Hidden Mist Village Genin really fighting? Or were they planning something..." Danzō thought.
He shook his head and said, "What am I thinking? That Uchiha brat has never left the Leaf Village. How could he be working with someone from the Hidden Mist Village? I'm probably overthinking it."
But Danzō had more important things to consider.
That night, the Leaf Village's leaders didn't sleep well. Kaoru slept soundly.
The next morning, after taking Wan'er to the ninja school, Kaoru went to the forest outside the Leaf Village, the place where he first summoned the River King.
He was training ninjutsu at home, but it was too small. He came here to train.
"Let's try Water Style first," Kaoru made hand seals. "Water Style: Water Bullet Technique!"
He spat water at the ground, but the C-Rank jutsu wasn't powerful.
"Next, Water Style: Water Whip!" Kaoru made hand seals. The water on the ground turned into thick whips, wrapping around the trees.
"This is a binding jutsu. Good," Kaoru nodded. His only imprisonment jutsu was Morgana's Q. This was better.
"I learned these jutsus in one day because of my Sharingan," Kaoru thought. He used his Sharingan, and he was talented. He learned quickly.
Kaoru tried the new Fire Style jutsus. He already knew some Fire Style jutsus, so it was easier.
"Good, I've mastered Fire Style and Water Style. Next is Hero Ninjutsu!" Kaoru's eyes lit up.
"First, Eagle Strikes the Sky!"
Kaoru's eyes turned into Sharingan, and a white bow and arrow appeared in his hands.
