Zain's POV
Seeing me agree, Nathan flashed a small grin. "It's getting late, and Joanna's not here. I'll let you get some rest."
I had zero interest in making Nathan stick around. I got up to walk him out.
But then footsteps echoed from upstairs.
I instinctively spun around and spotted Blanche coming down the stairs.
She wore a thin nightgown, her hair still damp from washing.
Hearing the footsteps, Nathan glanced up too.
The moment Nathan saw it was Blanche, he went completely still, clearly thrown off guard.
Finally snapping back to reality, Nathan stared at me with total confusion. "Zain, wait—what the hell is she doing here?"
I stood up and answered, "Nathan, I forgot to introduce her earlier—this is my wife, Blanche."
I said each word slowly and clearly, like I was worried he might not buy it.
Nathan already knew Blanche was my wife, so he barely seemed to give a damn. He just nodded slightly. "Yeah."
