Zain's POV
Meanwhile, Desmond showed up at the restaurant after failing to bring Blanche back to me.
The moment he stepped into the private dining room, he was greeted by my carefully planned setup—colorful balloons floating everywhere, thoughtfully arranged presents, an elaborate lunch spread across the table, and a beautiful cake as the centerpiece.
I was alone in the room. The sound of footsteps made me turn toward the door instinctively.
But when I saw Desmond's face instead of Blanche's, my smile died instantly.
"Where is she?" I demanded, my voice low and strained.
Desmond couldn't even look at me, his voice shaking as he answered, "Mr. Jake... he took her away."
The words hit me like a punch. I slammed the spoon I'd been holding onto the table with a sharp crack.
After the jarring sound echoed through the room, I exploded at him, "Are you completely worthless? You couldn't even bring her back. What's the point of you?"
