Arriving in one of the rooms Payne sighed, carefully sitting on the bed.
The room was a large one, the bed King sized. The room's interior was modern unlike the rest of the rooms in the maze house, which told ancient stories. Next to the bed sat a lamp, that dimly lit the room.
The light kissed the room lightly given off an orange shimmer.
He was tired and he wanted to sleep, but besides him lay the most beautiful woman he has ever seen and she was pregnant with his brother's child.
Payne got up, and went to take a shower.
He hadn't showered for two whole days and he felt dirty.
As he showered the water rained down on his bloodied body, the blood trickled down like diluted juice.
He got out of the shower.
Towel wrapped around his waist, hair wet, and upper body bare. He looked at the woman on the bed.
'Interesting she hasn't woken up, maybe she is tired plus she is pregnant', Payne thought.
"Please"
Pause
"Please don't ki...kill me the child is yo..yours".
Amanda mumbled in her sleep.
The world froze.
'What?'
'The child is mine?'
....
Ethan back home was worried. His brother had left without a word, for the first day he thought Payne would come back, maybe the man wanted a change in environment, a scenery he liked, surrounded by money and friends.
On the second day Ethan's worry grew into suspicion Payne wasn't back yet and upon calling his house he found out from Payne's housemaid that Payne hadn't come home,
and so he searched for him, tracking his movements.
Ethan found out that the last place Payne was spotted was in the outskirts of town,in the forest.
'What could he possibly want from there?'
Ethan's curiosity got the best of him. He asked around about Payne and what he was wearing, who he was with and what he was doing the last time he was sighted.
A man in the supermarket told him that the man was wearing a black cloak and seemed to be following a pregnant woman wearing a similar cloak. The man described the woman as a beautifully crafted woman, God blessed, with amber gold eyes and hair that seemed to be always shimmering whenever she went to buy from him in the supermarket.
The description of the woman struck Ethan the most...
'Could it be...?'
No one could give him the answers in town and so he decided to follow Payne's tracks. Deep into the forest he went.
He had no food, no extra pair of clothes, just a phone and a hunch that his brother had followed his wife into the now thick forest, that seemed to swallow him whole.
