Song Jie nodded, staring at the girl suspiciously, ready to defend himself at any moment.
The Mixed-Blood girl showed a hint of relief and said, "My name is Li Rui, and I'm a student from the Pearl Institute's Main Campus.
I'm actually from the Blood Clan—a vampire. Although I drink blood, I've never harmed anyone. I can swear on my life about that.
The one you just fought earlier wasn't me—it was the demon sealed inside my body. But after swallowing what you threw at me, it seems to have been suppressed."
Even though Li Rui's body had been controlled by the demon earlier, she had remained conscious of everything happening around her.

"I want to become your contracted beast," Li Rui said earnestly. "I have two bloodlines—one of the Blood Clan and the other demonic. Normally, I'm human. But under certain circumstances, I turn into… an outlier."
Song Jie was stunned. Though he had already suspected as much, he was still surprised to hear it confirmed.
No wonder she emitted both a blood aura and an evil aura—that explained everything.
Seeing Song Jie remain silent, Li Rui continued, "I have my own reasons for doing this. I don't want to be captured by the Hunter Union or the Magic Association. If they get their hands on me, I'll end up as nothing more than a research subject."
Song Jie nodded slightly. For someone like Li Rui, that was an unavoidable truth.
"Secondly," Li Rui added, "I want to thank you for saving me."
"Saving you?" Song Jie frowned, but quickly realized she meant the blood relic.
"I have a demonic bloodline that surfaces once every month. I usually try my best to suppress it, but this time it smelled human blood and went berserk. I couldn't control it," Li Rui explained.
Hearing this, Song Jie felt a bit awkward. He had essentially barged in at the worst possible moment—just as the demon inside her had lost control.
"But because of your appearance, the demon was suppressed. I'm free of that agony now—and I can live for a few more years," Li Rui said softly.
The two bloodlines within her constantly clashed and consumed each other, leaving her with little time to live. Before this, she had barely two years left.
"So… becoming your contracted beast is also my way of repaying you."
Song Jie was moved, but he still wanted to confirm one thing.
"Did you fuse with that blood relic?"
"Blood relic?" Li Rui paused, then realized what he meant. "Yes. It suppressed my demonic bloodline—and I absorbed a small portion of its power."
Song Jie's eyes brightened. "What ability did you gain?"
"I feel like I can control my demonic side now," Li Rui replied. "When I use that power, my strength increases greatly. At the same time, the demonic energy within me feels more complete—stronger than before."
Hearing that, Song Jie's expression changed with excitement. This was almost identical to the Demon Element ability!
He possessed the skill Contract Plunder, which allowed him to steal the abilities of his contracted beasts.

Just then, both of them sensed movement from the corridor outside.
Li Rui grew tense immediately. She glanced at Song Jie, then at the nearby window.
If he didn't agree to contract with her… she might have no other choice but to end it all.
"Come on," Song Jie said calmly.
Li Rui's eyes lit up instantly—he had agreed!
At that moment, several hurried footsteps echoed from the corridor.
"It's here! We saw someone fighting a terrifying creature!" shouted a man's voice.
The group burst into the room, their gazes sweeping across the wreckage before landing on Song Jie.
"It's him! He was fighting that demon!" the couple from earlier pointed at him.
The leading man frowned and asked, "Hello, what exactly happened here?"
"Oh, we were dealing with a demon incident," Song Jie said evenly.
"You're hunters?"
"Wait a moment," Song Jie said as he pulled out his phone and called Lingling.
A few minutes later, Lingling arrived.
"What's wrong?" she asked.
"I encountered a Shedding Demon here, but it escaped," Song Jie replied.
Lingling looked at him briefly, then turned to the man. "We're from the Qingtian Hunter Agency, currently on a mission."
"You…?" The man stared at the little girl in disbelief.
Lingling calmly took out her Seven-Star Hunter Master's badge.
The man and his team were stunned speechless.
This little girl… was a Seven-Star Hunter Master?!
Lingling continued, "Your team members are downstairs. If you don't believe me, come with us."
The leading man hesitated, recalling the rest of his unit waiting below. "No need. We believe you. We were just responding to the report about a demon sighting."
Song Jie said, "That demon escaped. Please help search for it in the area."
"This is our duty," the man replied with a nod. "Can you describe the demon's appearance?"
After Song Jie described the Shedding Demon, the team left to begin their search.
"Let's go," Lingling said, glancing at Song Jie with a knowing look.
Song Jie blinked, unable to read her expression.
Did she overhear his conversation with Li Rui?
"Lingling, did you just do something sneaky?"
"I didn't."
"Really?"
Lingling ignored him and walked ahead on her own.
Song Jie chuckled quietly. He was certain she had eavesdropped, but since she was pretending otherwise, she probably wouldn't say a word about it.
Tonight had been an incredible turn of events—he'd gained a new power, and he couldn't wait to test out this devastating new trump card.
