Haden's expression hardened, he tightened his jaw and swung his spear much more furiously than before.
The Remnant blocked his attacks with his dark katana; each clash sent a destructive ripple through him, but he still had a wide grin stretching across his face. He could feel Haden's desperation to ignore him, to not falter, but he had more to say.
Haden spun his spear and threw a punch. The Remnant ducked down and swung the katana in an upward motion. Haden shifted his body to the side, veins bulged across his arm, and he thrust forward.
The Remnant struck the incoming thrust to the side with all of his physical might. The collision sent a destructive wave outwards, and serpentine fractures appeared on the ground, and both of them were sent skidding back.
The Remnant's monstrous feet scraped the ground as he came to a stop and asked in a melodious voice, "Dost thou wish to know how one becomes a god?"
Haden ignored him, stepped forward and attacked again.
