Chapter 10 - 10 – Chasing X Master

"I feel so light."

Kevin lay on the hotel sofa, sighing in comfort.

Ever since he escaped last night, he had felt inexplicably light, as if he had thrown off a heavy burden.

A bright future awaited him.

"Speaking of which, when will the teacher Ging mentioned arrive?"

Kevin muttered to himself, recalling their farewell.

Ging had told him he found a teacher, but he had not given any details about how they would meet. He only said that the teacher would find him. Now that Kevin had abandoned his old identity, could he really still be found?

"Forget it. Why worry? They must have their own channels."

Just as he was enjoying a rare moment of peace, there was a knock at the door.

Kevin jumped up and walked toward it, frowning.

He cautiously looked through the peephole.

The police?

What he saw was far worse.

Standing outside was the blonde twin-tailed girl from last night. The very one who had "suited his taste."

She was smiling at him, as if she could see him through the peephole.

Why was she here?

Kevin frowned, thoughts racing.

Bang, bang, bang.

"Big brother, open the door. I came to thank you."

Yeah, right.

There was no way she was here to thank him.

If he opened the door, there might be a SWAT team waiting around the corner.

Without hesitation, Kevin slipped toward the balcony. To make escaping easier, he had deliberately booked a second-floor room with a balcony facing the back street.

He climbed over the railing and dropped down.

The moment he landed, he found a gentle-looking man in a white shirt standing in front of him. He wore glasses and smiled calmly.

In Kevin's perception, the man's aura was erupting.

"Hi." The man even waved.

Without hesitation, Kevin gathered aura into his legs, stomped hard, and sprinted toward the nearby wall.

"Wing, if you let him escape this yard today…"

The girl's voice came from above.

Kevin glanced up. The twin-tailed girl was standing on the balcony, looking down at him.

"Yes, Master."

Wing's expression turned serious. In an instant, he vanished.

The next moment, he appeared behind Kevin.

So fast.

Kevin's eyes widened.

In the split second of danger, he rolled to the left.

Bang.

A heavy fist smashed into the stone slab, leaving a deep crater.

"Are you trying to kill me?"

Kevin stared in shock. If that hit him, he would have been crippled.

He immediately drew the pistol from his waist.

"Don't move."

Wing stood calmly before him again, the corner of his shirt fluttering.

"Relying on such things will not allow you to train."

"Psychopath."

Is he insane? He is lecturing me right now?

"Step back or I'll shoot."

"Then shoot. Aim for his head."

The girl's voice drifted down from the balcony, filled with amusement.

"Don't think I won't. I really will shoot."

Kevin had a sinking feeling.

These two were not normal.

He had done nothing today, yet trouble had found him again.

Maybe this was the price of transmigration and resurrection.

He had not even had the chance to properly learn Nen from the teacher Ging mentioned.

"Sigh. No other choice."

Kevin silently pulled out the potion he had prepared long ago.

It was created using the Nen Ability he had been born with.

"A Moment of Dream."

He poured it into his mouth and pulled the trigger at the same time.

Wing tilted his head and effortlessly dodged the bullet.

"Hm? He wasn't aiming at my head?"

Kevin had aimed for the shoulder.

He suspected Wing might be some kind of Nen enforcer who specialized in arresting rogue Nen users like him.

As the potion flowed through him, power surged.

His body became light and strong.

He still had no intention of fighting head-on. He only wanted to escape.

But Wing was far stronger.

In the blink of an eye, he appeared in front of Kevin again at an incomprehensible speed.

Kevin's mind reacted.

His body did not.

A punch descended.

Kevin crossed his arms to block, but the overwhelming force sent him flying into the wall.

So painful.

Since learning Nen, this was the first time he had endured such a heavy blow.

It felt as if his aura defense was useless. Even though he had concentrated aura on his guard, the pain still pierced through.

Wing's aura output was greater than his own.

Another punch came.

Kevin raised his arm to intercept it. This time, enduring the pain, he threw his right fist upward toward Wing's stomach.

A knee strike intercepted him.

Wing withdrew his hand smoothly.

Defend. Look for an opening. Defend. Look for an opening.

Kevin was forced completely into defense, barely able to counterattack.

Yet despite looking miserable, he remained standing.

The flow of aura within him became smoother and smoother.

On the balcony, the twin-tailed girl watched quietly. Sometimes she frowned. Sometimes she nodded.

Finally, a heavy punch sent Kevin crashing into the wall again.

This time, he truly had no strength left.

An emptiness spread through his body.

He slid down to the ground, panting, and looked up at Wing approaching him.

His hand twitched toward his gun, then stopped.

Wing could dodge bullets.

There was nothing more he could do.

Kevin slowly raised both hands in surrender.

He waited for handcuffs.

None came.

"What are you doing?" Kevin asked, confused. "You are not going to torture me privately, are you?"

That would be unfair.

Well, considering the crimes of the original owner, maybe not entirely unfair.

Still, if he really went to prison, Ging would get him out.

Kevin was very aware of his value to Ging.

"What are you talking about?"

Wing gave him a strange look and ignored him. Instead, he glanced up at the balcony.

"Teacher. Is this enough?"

The twin-tailed girl leaped down and landed in front of Kevin.

Kevin's mind slowly pieced it together.

Wing called her teacher.

Yet she looked like a child.

One of those childlike masters from movies.

Wait.

If that was the case, then did his actions last night ruin their operation?

Had they been tracking the human traffickers?

Kevin's thoughts spiraled.

"Are you Kevin? Ging entrusted me to teach you."

A large question mark seemed to appear above Kevin's head.

What?

But this made no sense.

If that were true, why was she in the trafficker's car last night?

If everything had been arranged by them, then the implications were terrifying.

Did that mean they had investigated the original owner completely?

Otherwise, how could it be such a coincidence that he was captured by traffickers, and they happened to hide in the same place during a search?

Are Nen users all monsters?

Kevin felt his awe for this world deepen once again.
