Muffled sounds filled the room. Malorie could not make out the words as her head was in a jumbled mess. She slowly opened her eyes and realized her back was to the wall of a moving vehicle. The activities before her passing came crashing onto her, having her fully wide awake.
She looked to her side, noticing young girls like her were lined up on both sides of her, their hands tied at their backs, and that's when she realized she was tied as well. She couldn't scream. The girls inside the wagon were plenty, and heavyweight men paced around the room.
Malorie closed her eyes for a bit. She did not want to cry, and she did not want to regret not listening to her mama because it would worsen everything. She just stayed silent like the other girls, waiting to see where their destination would be.
It did not take long for the carriage to come to a stop.
"Lead them out, gently and in a line," one of the big men said. The instructed moved to complete the order.
