Chapter 13 - A friend indeed

Though Ariana was still in shock of what had just happened, she got into her car and drove off but she didn't know where to go.

She didn't want to go home, her home didn't feel like a home anymore. She couldn't go to her cheating fiancé's house either.

She thought of texting her friend Yvonne to go over to her place but she felt Yvonne had already done so much for her so she concluded returning home was better.

She decided she was going to act ignorant of everything she had found out, including Rodrigo's cheating. She'd play dumb till she gets her revenge.

Entering her family house, she headed straight to the kitchen and was greeted by the workers. She politely returned their greeting and served herself a meal. She quickly ate before her family called for dinner because she didn't want to eat with them.

Getting to her room, she shut the door and locked it.

"It's high time moved out" she said to herself as she approached her bed. The memory of seeing Rodrigo with that actress came across her mind and it hurt!.

She hadn't even gotten a single text from him all day.

"Too busy cheating obviously" she muttered.

She wondered how long her so called fiancé had been cheating on her. Trying her best not to cry over him again, she took up her phone and texted Azaiah.

"Hey. Made up your mind yet about how I'd repay you?".

She waited some minutes for his reply and when she was about to put her phone away, it buzzed.

"Not so fast princess. Give me time to decide" came his text.

Ariana rolled her eyes and tucked herself in her bed, not replying to his text. She quickly texted Yvonne to ask if she knew anything about this man, Azaiah Hawthrone as his name rang a bell.

"Hey, how are you? How was work today?".

The next second, her friend replied "I'm good and you? Work was exhausting. I almost arrived late but thankfully I didn't. Ava was introduced to the company today and I was given the position as her assistant. I didn't accept it though".

"Why didn't you accept it?" Came Ariana's question.

"I'm only loyal to you Ari. I like your sister but nah, I couldn't do that. Would rather be jobless".

Ariana felt a pang of pain in her chest ass her read the text, she was in no mood to talk about the company. At least, not yet.

But she was thankful for Yvonne's actions.

"Thank you so much Yvonne" she said.

"No sweat. Do you still intend to help your sister with the company?" Questioned Yvonne.

"I really don't want to talk about the company right now. I have alot to tell you" Ariana's text said.

"Alright then, I guess you'd also be telling me how your day went while looking for a new job?" Yvonne was concerned as she had come across some of the hateful comments of her friend online.

She was worried about Ariana but she couldn't check in on her because she was still at the company at that time.

"Of course I'd tell you. But I wanted to ask do you know any man called Azaiah Hawthrone? I met him today and for some reason, his name sounds familiar" Ariana asked.

"Ohhh Azaiah! We know him from high school. We were in grade 10 when he was in grade 12. " Yvonne explained.

"Still can't remember Yvonne. Let me call you okay?".

Ariana placed a call and it didn't even take up to two seconds before Yvonne picked up.

"How is it that you don't remember Azaiah? He was the smartest kid in school but also kind of a bully. The guy all the boys hated because he had all the girls attention? He used to tease you alot!" Yvonne explained.

Ariana began to connect all the dots and it clicked. "That Azaiah?!" She exclaimed.

"Yes! I heard he's super wealthy now though. He owns different companies from what I know. How did you meet him?" Yvonne asked, a bit concerned because she knew Ariana disliked Azaiah in highschool. They weren't all in the same class but when they crossed paths, he always used it as an opportunity to tease her and called her four eyes because she used medicated glasses in highschool.

"You remember that club we went to for that bachelorette party?".

"Yes?" Yvonne excitedly wanted to hear all Ariana had to say.

"Well, that was where we met. Then I also saw him tonight also at a restaurant" Ariana said.

"Okay okay...if that's not fate then I don't know what it is!" Yvonne giggled.

"Stop with the giggling Yvonne".

"Okay okay sorry. But wait, how does he look now? I mean, he looked good in high school but I bet he's looking even better now. C'mon tell me".

"Well..." Ariana began to recall every detail. His caramel skin, seductive green eyes and dark long hair he always kept in a loose bun and his well sculpted body.

"Hello? Earth to Ariana!" Yvonne joked after she didn't hear her friend say anything else.

"He's still good looking" Ariana quickly answered.

"Hmm... usually you'd have already told me oh I'm engaged Yvonne, let's stop talking about another man. But you haven't said that yet. Is everything good with Rodrigo?" Yvonne asked and Ariana's silence gave her the answer she needed to hear.

"I caught him cheating on me" Ariana said and the next thing that followed was Yvonne's scream which made Ariana pull the phone away from her ear.

"What?! How dare he! Does he how lucky he is to have you? What insolence! Please tell me you've called off the wedding already and gave that man a good slap to the face and a kick in the restricted area?" Yvonne asked.

"I haven't confronted him yet. I'd act like I don't know for now. Believe me, I have my plans" Ariana replied and Yvonne seemed to calm down a little.

"But wait how did it even come to that? You both have been dating since you left college! You've supported him in every way you could. You loved each other! How could he?!" Yvonne felt the news was unbelievable.

Whenever she saw Ariana with Rodrigo she had always wished for a love like that. They were so loving to each other and Rodrigo doted on Ariana.

Unbeknownst to her, their relationship was arranged by their parents in the first place.
