Cherreads

Chapter 12 - 12: Encountering acquaintances, Wendy and Carla from the Demon Cat Inn.

I stayed at the Guild for a few more days, during which Natsu and Gray often dragged me along to work.

Soon, the one million jewel compensation was settled.

Although they were both very reluctant, Aux still ruthlessly disbanded the team with them.

Without teammates, Aux took on a request to move things.

The mission location was the port town, Hargeon.

This is a town where fishing is more developed than magic, with many fishing boats that go out to sea year-round along the coast.

The remuneration for this request was not high; Aux simply took it on a whim while out for a stroll.

He just didn't expect to see an acquaintance!

Her blue hair fell naturally, and her big eyes were filled with innocence.

She was holding a cat in her arms and talking to a fisherman about something.

Wendy!

Carla!

The Sky Dragon Mage, one who was originally a support but was somehow turned into a rude brute.

Today's Wendy looked even younger, her appearance more tender, her face not yet fully developed.

Aux confirmed the client's address.

He found that it was the middle-aged man in front of Wendy, so he walked over.

Noticing someone approaching, Wendy stopped talking, hugged Carla, and stepped back two paces to make way.

It was clear she was wary.

"I am a Mage from the Fairy Tail Guild, my name is Aux, and I am the one who accepted your request," Aux greeted the fisherman.

He showed the Guild emblem on his shoulder to prove his identity.

The fisherman immediately smiled and welcomed him, "Mage-sama, please wait a moment; we will be going out to sea soon, and then we will trouble you for your help."

Aux confirmed the task details with him.

The request only stated that help was needed to move things; the specific items were not written.

Next to him, Wendy, holding Carla, heard the words and suddenly tightened her arms.

"Uh… gently."

Carla immediately felt it difficult to breathe and quickly patted Wendy's arm to make her relax.

Wendy quickly relaxed her arms and said apologetically, "I'm sorry, Carla, I didn't mean to squeeze you."

Carla rolled her beautiful eyes, but she didn't blame her.

Meanwhile, Wendy looked at Aux, her mouth slightly agape in a daze.

"Don't be infatuated with a man, control that expression on your face," Carla extended a paw and patted Wendy's face.

The latter came back to her senses and whispered, "But he's a Mage from the Fairy Tail Guild…"

Fairy Tail Guild!

That was a great Guild that their Cait Shelter couldn't compare to; she heard it had many powerful Mages.

Over here, Aux finished confirming the task details with the fisherman.

He learned that the object to be moved was a giant monstrous fish they had caught.

It was said that the fishermen caught it at sea yesterday.

Because the monstrous fish was particularly large and it was at sea, ordinary people couldn't get it up, which is why they posted a request to find a Mage.

"Who are these two young ladies?"

After discussing business, Aux also turned his gaze to Wendy and Carla next to him.

The latter two stood rigidly.

Their small faces were filled with seriousness, as if they were being scrutinized!

"The young lady, I don't know why she insists on taking a boat out to sea, and she has no family with her; I was just trying to persuade her not to go," the client replied.

Why go out to sea?

Aux also wasn't sure; logically, Wendy, being so young, shouldn't have started working yet, right?

Aux asked, "Young lady, the sea is very dangerous; you two had better not go out; if anything happens, no one will look after you."

Carla huffed in response, "We don't need anyone to look after us."

Wendy, however, spoke truthfully, "I heard someone saw a giant dragon at sea, so I wanted to go out and see if it was Grandeeney…"

Although Carla could fly her, the sea was so vast that flying constantly would surely tire Carla.

So that's it!

Aux suddenly understood.

These Dragon Slayers from 400 years ago all wanted to find their dragons.

They would search whenever they heard even the slightest clue.

Wendy mustered her courage and introduced herself, "I am a member of the Cait Shelter Guild; I can assist you in battle. Can you take me with you out to sea?"

After speaking, she lowered her head again.

She clearly felt very bad about troubling others and was a little embarrassed to meet their gaze.

The client agreed first, "Alright, alright, I didn't expect the young lady to also be a great Mage-sama; I agree."

A Mage offering to help for free, why refuse!

He agreed very quickly, afraid of losing such an opportunity.

Carla replied proudly, "Consider yourself sensible; with Wendy here, none of you will get hurt at all."

Wendy remained shy and silent.

And Aux also didn't refuse; not only did he not need anyone's assistance at all, he also particularly wanted to compete with Wendy in support magic.

"Mr. Aux, is there a Mage named Natsu in the Fairy Tail Guild?"

While waiting for the boat to depart, Wendy again mustered her courage and initiated a conversation with Aux.

"The Fire Dragon Natsu is indeed a member of our Fairy Tail Guild; coincidentally, he also has a talking cat," Aux replied.

Carla was displeased; she broke free from Wendy's embrace and flew into the air, her small paws crossed in front of her as she retorted proudly, "I am not a cat; I am the sacred Queen~"

Wendy reached out and re-embraced Carla, also correcting, "Carla is my partner…"

Then she carefully asked, "Have you heard about Natsu's parents? Does he know where his parents are?"

Aux was first puzzled, then pretended to ponder for a few seconds, "Natsu's father seems to have disappeared; he often goes out to look for him…"

Hearing such a reply, Wendy also lowered her head in disappointment; with her small mind, she couldn't guess why Grandeeney had disappeared.

"Don't worry… you're still young; you'll have plenty of time to search later, and you'll find her eventually," Carla comforted her.

Although Aux knew the truth, given how cruel it was, he decided to keep his mouth shut.

After a few more simple exchanges, seeing that Wendy was not in high spirits, Aux didn't ask any more questions.

Soon, their location was filled with quite a few people, mostly men, and all fishermen.

"That monstrous fish is tied with iron chains, and every once in a while, it needs a large dose of magical tranquilizer."

"Because the cost is particularly high, we are going to share that monstrous fish, and one boat is not enough, so we need eight boats."

The client promptly explained to Aux, preventing him from being scared and voluntarily giving up the request after seeing so many people.

Aux nodded indifferently.

Then it was time to board the boats.

There were people on all eight ordinary-sized boats, and as the call to set sail echoed, everyone gradually moved away from Hargeon.

"Carla, look, so many seagulls, they catch fish so fast."

Wendy was a little girl after all.

As the boat sailed on the sea, she looked at the never-before-seen scenery, excitedly looking left and right on the boat.

Aux looked at her twice.

Currently, Wendy wasn't seasick, and he didn't know the reason behind it.

Does she only get seasick after mastering Dragon Force?

Or does she get forced to be seasick once her strength reaches a certain level?
