For a few seconds, I just stood there, holding my phone and staring at Serena. She was beside the pile of shopping bags, removing tags and folding little pieces of paper.
The thoughts in my head were all over the place. I was trying to decide if it would be a good idea to tell Serena the truth but I knew she wouldn't want me to go.
We entered the car and I drove us back to the villa.
Part of me wanted to stay here with her and forget about the message Adrien sent, but I couldn't.
If they finally found someone connected to Pedro, I had to confirm it myself. I needed to see the man's face.
I took a small breath and looked at her again.
She glanced up. "What's wrong?"
"Nothing," I said quickly, keeping my voice normal. "I just remembered something."
"What thing?"
I inched closer to her so we were eye-level.
"I want to get something for you. Something we can use to celebrate properly."
She frowned. "What do you mean?"
