The morning after the storm caused by Elvie calmed down, the air still smelled faintly of wet.

One by one, passengers presented their identification. When it was Kanessa's turn, the guard blinked.
"A guild ID, right?" he asked.
Kanessa nodded.
The guard's sleepy eyes widened the moment he saw the card.
Before he could speak further, a familiar voice called out near the gate.
"Teacher."
A tall man in silver armor approached, bowing slightly. His blue cloak bore the crest of House Vermion — Eldric Vermion, her former student, now a duke.
The knights around him bowed deeply.
"You've grown," Kanessa said with a half-smile, pulling down her hood.
Her sky-blue hair shimmered in the fading light, and her crimson eyes met his.
The horns upon her head gleamed faintly.
