Yu Yachen suddenly felt the ground beneath her feet give way. The snow that had been holding her fast returned to normal. The sticky, liquid-like clothing on her shoulder also reverted to its original state.
She looked in surprise toward the source of the voice and saw the enemy, Pierre, being held in a chokehold by an Ursus youth.
And that youth... was Ivan, the man she had rescued earlier.

Stands have strengths and weaknesses; no Stand is invincible. The weakness of this Stand, [Warne Marsh], was that the user needed to be undisturbed. Because controlling the Stand required such precise operations, any slight interference would cause the ability to deactivate.

Eirymes reacted instantly. She summoned her Stand, [Paper Hearts], and charged at Yu Yachen.
This woman... she's like an unkillable cockroach, always getting in my way. Yu Yachen frowned. Killer Queen moved to block the attack. After taking the cannonball-like punch, Yu Yachen had her Stand punch Eirymes in the stomach.
"BAM!"
"Get lost."
As the Ursus woman was sent flying once again, Yu Yachen said coldly.
Without pausing, she finished with Eirymes and immediately dashed toward the men. Ivan was just a frail Infected, and he was already injured. Against a strong adult male, he was quickly overpowered.
Pierre reversed the hold, grabbed Ivan by the neck, and held him as a shield, roaring at Yu Yachen, "Don't come any closer! One more step and I'll kill him!"
"Miss Yu, what are you doing back here?! Run!"
He was betting that Yu Yachen was the type who wouldn't kill an innocent person. But he was wrong. Yu Yachen wasn't someone who cared about a normal person's life!
"[Sticky Fingers]!"
The blue-and-white Stand punched out, smashing through Ivan's abdomen and, passing through his body, struck Pierre, who was hiding behind him!

"Puah!"
Pierre spat out a mouthful of blood. The heavy punch sent him flying! He crashed into a pine tree, and the entire tree snapped in two.
"?!"
As Ivan watched in shock, Yu Yachen retracted her fist.
The Ursus youth, who had just been punched through the stomach by Sticky Fingers, was unharmed. Where the fist had passed, a zipper had appeared.
The zipper had opened up his abdomen, and Sticky Fingers's fist had passed through the resulting hole. Thus, Yu Yachen's attack hadn't harmed him at all.
The zipper closed. Sticky Fingers then grabbed Ivan by the scruff of his neck and yanked him to Yu Yachen's side.
"Idiot. I already threw you out of the fight. Why did you come back? Don't get in the way."
Yu Yachen was angry.
She had already dealt with this person. Now she had a burden on the field again. How was she supposed to fight?
Why did you have to interfere?
I should just leave him here to die, she thought.
"Miss Yu... I'm sorry..."

But to her surprise, the youth's voice was extremely weak, as if he were on the verge of death.
Yu Yachen turned her head. Ivan, held by Sticky Fingers, was half-kneeling in the snow, barely able to stand.
Blood was pooling in the snow. At some point, a large patch of skin on the side of his neck had dissolved like mud, revealing the raw, red flesh and blood vessels beneath. Blood was gushing out like a fountain.

Yu Yachen was silent for a moment.
"You... you asked why I came back... I just... thought I could help... You're a college student... you're definitely more useful... You promised Alina... you'd teach the kids to read..."

"Are you an idiot?" Yu Yachen asked, her face blank.

The light faded from the Ursus youth's eyes.
Not far away, the Ursus woman clutched her injured stomach and slowly climbed to her feet.
"What a pointless idiot. You're weak as hell, but you just had to jump in. Did you think you were being glorious?" she said, gritting her teeth.
She had been so close. She had been one step away from killing Yu Yachen, and this stray dog had to jump in and ruin it.
"Maggots like the Infected should just stay in the mines and rot. Especially you, born Infected. What kind of ideals did that Talulah person fill your head with? Did you really think you could change your fate just by 'uniting'?"
Eirymes sneered. "Who do you think you saved? The person you saved won't even bother to look at you!"
"You're right," Yu Yachen replied.
She was annoyed.
This is why she hated idiots more than evil people.
Why do idiots always have to ruin things?

She felt anger spreading in her heart.
