Chapter 678 - Chapter 678: Twins?

Chapter 678: Twins?

The Birth of the Children

The Old Hag died, her abdomen burst open, spraying internal organs everywhere.

Her skin rapidly lost blood, becoming withered and decayed, like a corpse dried for hundreds of years.

All the life force within her was absorbed by the fleshy egg. Empowered, the egg rose into the sky, emitting a seven-colored halo. A unique rhythm of life was brewing inside.

A heart was beating. A life was breathing.

Everyone felt the vigorous life force about to burst forth.

It was about to be born.

J'onn's face changed drastically. He was about to release the bowstring when his mind suddenly seized up. His soul was bound by a strange energy, rendering him temporarily immobile.

The female snake-person with the pale pupils stared coldly at him. She made no physical move; a mere glance was enough to paralyze J'onn.

Clark unleashed his heat vision, aiming straight for the female snake-person, but it was blocked by a snake-person wearing silver heavy armor, holding a shield in his left hand and a hammer in his right. Simultaneously, a white sword light pierced the void, silently appearing at J'onn's neck.

"Get away!"

Clark quickly turned and shattered the sword light with a punch. Blood seeped from the back of his hand, vanishing instantly.

The black-haired snake-person wielding the commercial sword gave Clark a deep look.

What a hard body; he could actually withstand the sharp edge of the sword.

The situation was grim. J'onn was controlled by the female snake-person, and Clark was tied down. They could only watch helplessly as the fleshy egg slowly cracked open.

Light emerged from within, illuminating the entire world. The wailing Mother Entity above also stopped, lowering its head, seemingly inspecting the child about to be born.

Crack!

A gap appeared on the surface. Intense light rushed out, followed by an earth-shattering explosion.

The massive fleshy egg split into pieces, and two spheres of light shot out from within, standing beneath the sky.

The light dissipated, revealing two infants. They had purplish-black skin, chubby but abnormally large bodies, and were eight-tenths similar to human children, yet their backs were covered in dense suction cups, each with a tentacle—a repulsive sight.

The two children were identical; they were twins.

The Mother Entity paused, seemingly puzzled: Why are there two children?

It clearly remembered there was only one life inside the egg!

The snake-people were also caught off guard. They looked at the child on the left, then the child on the right, unable to figure out which one was the true master.

Luke's Return and the Twin Fight

Just then, the child on the right spoke, his voice cold as iron and radiating a chilling killing intent.

"I will definitely kill you and erase everything about you."

He raised his hand, and eighteen fire dragons instantly formed, roaring as they lunged at the child opposite him.

The other child was terrified. He scrambled and tumbled, flying upward, seemingly seeking his mother's protection.

"Where do you think you're going?"

A long arrow flashing with green electric light sliced through the sky, striking the fleeing child's back. The child let out a piercing shriek, like a bull with its tail on fire, rushing frantically toward the Mother Entity.

"Luke?"

"It's Luke!"

Diana's eyes widened with surprise and joy. "That child is Luke!"

"He... he... he... how did he turn into that?"

She wasn't the only one confused. Clark, J'onn, and even the snake-people were bewildered. Green flames were Luke's unique power; no one could imitate it. The question was, how did he become a child?

One Hour Earlier: The Soul World

The story flashes back to an hour earlier, inside the soul world of the fleshy egg. When five massive infants appeared in the sky, Luke felt unprecedented despair. However, the strange thing was that these five grotesque infants did not attack him. Instead, they viciously attacked each other, their movements fierce and their eyes savage, as if intending to bite each other to death.

Luke frowned, completely failing to understand.

Seeing that they had no intention of attacking him, he simply sat cross-legged on the ground, observing while recovering his strength.

The consumption of the recent period had been too great. The Soul-Devouring Bow had used up a quarter of his soul power, and he was attacked again after entering the cave. After several battles, his power was nearly depleted, and his spirit was exhausted.

The battle above became increasingly fierce. The five grotesque infants bit each other. They started individually, then split into two factions. The larger faction devoured the smaller one. After consuming their opponents, their aura visibly strengthened.

The five grotesque infants were reduced to three, then two.

The battle of life and death began. The two used every means available, fighting fiercely. Columns of energy of various colors flashed across the sky, followed by earth-shattering explosions.

Luke found the spectacle boring. He simply closed his eyes and entered a meditative state.

Children are children. Their attack methods were simple and tedious—the same four moves repeatedly: punches and kicks, biting, tentacle whipping, and various energy cannons.

After a full half hour, the battle drew to a close. The slightly larger grotesque infant achieved final victory. After consuming the other, it returned to its original form.

Luke opened his eyes. His body moved like lightning, appearing in front of the giant infant.

He extended his index finger and gently touched its forehead.

The giant infant was struck as if by lightning. Its eyes became hollow, filled with rapidly rotating golden runes.

"Soul-Sealing Technique, Suppress!"

Luke roared. Brilliant golden light emerged from his fingertip. Hundreds of golden chains flew out, binding its body, sealing its senses, and suppressing its soul.

The giant infant struggled violently. Its body quickly contracted, then rapidly expanded, using this method to break free of the chain's restraint.

Luke made a hand seal with his left hand and pointed upward.

A black cloud appeared in the sky. The cloud rapidly expanded, covering almost the entire world. Lightning, like crawling snakes, crisscrossed the dark clouds. Thunder brewed. With a roar, the heavens and the earth turned a pale white.

A massive lightning bolt struck down from the sky, hitting the giant infant's head hard.

"Ah!"

It cried out in pain, shaking its body madly. The chains groaned, ready to snap at any moment.

Luke coldly snorted. His killing intent boiled. His eyes unknowingly turned an eerie glowing green. The vortex in his heart expanded outward, revealing a fiercely burning world of death.

The two worlds slowly merged. The color vanished from the air. As far as the eye could see, there were only burning green flames. The figures hovering in the distance screamed in terror, running away frantically. After only a few steps, their bodies caught fire, turning into new flames.

The black clouds turned a dark green. The crisscrossing lightning also became wandering green electrical arcs.

Boom!

A green light flashed in the sky. A green column of light descended, striking the giant infant's chest and slamming it fiercely onto the ground.

The giant infant let out an earth-shattering shriek. Its eyes filled with panic. Without a word, it turned and ran.

"Trying to run? Can you escape?"

Luke's killing intent had reached its peak. He soared into the air, vanishing into the clouds. The clouds churned, forming a colossal human face. The face descended, staring intensely at the grotesque infant below.

The infant fell to its knees in terror, begging for mercy. Its only answer was Luke's cold eyes and an overwhelming storm of thunderclouds.

"You must die today. Even Jesus couldn't save you."
