Chapter 679 - Chapter 679: Mother-Child Affection

Chapter 679: Mother-Child Affection

The Lightning Storm

Thunder roared across the sky.

Beneath the eerie green-tinged clouds, electricity crisscrossed, forming gigantic forked lightning bolts.

Boom!

The thunder exploded. The sky flickered violently as chains of lightning swept across the ground, leaving countless ravines. They lashed the grotesque infant like whips.

The air crackled. The infant was scorched and torn by the strikes, smoke rising from its body.

It wailed loudly, clutching its head and scrambling to escape.

Luke was relentless. He gathered the lightning, condensing it into a massive lightning whip connecting heaven and earth. With one strike, the world shuddered. A white flash cut across the sky, followed by an ear-piercing boom. In an instant, the entire world trembled.

The giant infant was split into two pieces by the blow. The severed body was consumed by green flames, shrinking piece by piece.

Suddenly, it shrieked hideously. Multi-colored light surged from within its body, and the wound healed at a visible speed.

"It still won't die!"

Luke's mouth twitched slightly. He raised his hand. The clouds churned, forming five vortices with electricity circulating inside. With a dragon's roar, five Thunder Dragons made of green lightning shot out of the clouds, roaring as they lunged at the grotesque infant.

The lightning illuminated the world, the attacks ceaseless.

The five Thunder Dragons continuously tore at the infant's body, corroding its soul. The fierce onslaught left huge wounds, yet they healed almost immediately.

Wounding, healing, wounding, healing...

Through this relentless cycle, the multi-colored light began to diminish. The infant experienced unprecedented agony and despair. It struggled desperately, but the five Thunder Dragons clung to it like stubborn loaches.

"If I can't kill you outright, I'll wear you down."

"I don't believe you can resurrect indefinitely."

Luke sneered, continuously pumping energy into the Thunder Dragons, manipulating them to attack.

The infant's soul was truly incredible. In all his life, Luke had never encountered a soul this powerful. Green flames were a soul nemesis. Ordinary beings died upon contact, and even the gods didn't dare to resist for long. Yet, this creature was still alive and kicking after being battered by the thunder for so long.

Since he couldn't resolve it quickly, he would drag it out until it died.

Time crawled by. The grotesque infant was tormented mercilessly, wishing for death, even thinking of just closing its eyes. Its body was never without a wound, and its size had shrunk significantly. If this continued, it would truly be obliterated by the lightning.

It wanted to escape, but the world was dominated by the green flames. As far as it could see was Luke's territory. Even burrowing into the ground would result in a lightning strike.

It was desperate. Immense fear overwhelmed its heart, and Luke was the source of all that fear.

The seven-colored light continued to weaken. Its body shrank back to human size. Death approached minute by minute. Soon, the infant would vanish in the thunder, becoming more fuel for the green flame world.

"It's time to end this."

Luke took a deep breath. His body turned into pure lightning, descending from the sky like a spear piercing the heavens. Just then, the world suddenly shook. A giant rift cracked open in the distant sky. A streak of black arrow-light rushed toward them, crossing the void, piercing the earth, and splitting the world enclosed by green flames in two.

Luke and the grotesque infant were both hit with severe wounds. Sharp pain radiated from every part of their bodies, as if they were being torn apart.

"Who... who did that?"

"Damn it! Cough, cough, cough!!!!"

Luke clutched his mouth, coughing violently. The strike not only saved the grotesque infant but also pierced the soul world. However, the world's master was the infant, and Luke was merely an intruder.

With the world shattered, the infant's wounds were even more severe. It might even vanish entirely.

"Looks like you're destined to die, after all."

Luke shook his head, turning to look around. There were holes in the sky and the ground. Looking through the holes, he could vaguely see faint white light.

"What a powerful attack. I wonder who launched it."

The Reunion and The Strange Consumption

As soon as he spoke, a strange energy came from outside. This energy carried a kind of summons, like a mother calling her child. The grotesque infant, rolling on the ground, stopped. A seven-colored light film appeared on its body, pulling it uncontrollably toward the sky.

"Trying to run?"

Luke snorted angrily. He shot green lightning from his fingertip, but it was bounced back by the multi-colored light film. At the same time, the world began to warp. The light faded, leaving only darkness.

In a daze, a peculiar sensation came over his body, like soaking in warm spring water, yet also like being held in a mother's embrace. The grotesque infant's aura surfaced, seemingly close by.

It also sensed Luke's location. Frightened, it trembled. Driven by instinct, it forcibly split its body, giving half to itself and half to Luke. Using this method, it finally escaped his clutches.

The fleshy egg shattered, and the two infants appeared in mid-air. Luke, in a whirl of disorientation, arrived in an unfamiliar place.

My body!

Whose body am I in?

He had no time to think. The moment he sensed the grotesque infant, he immediately attacked. Eighteen fire dragons roared across the sky, and the emerald green arrow-light pierced the void.

Only then did he realize the change in his body.

He looked down: beneath purplish-black, chubby legs, a limp, grayish little penis hung listlessly. A breeze blew, making his groin tense up.

"What the hell?"

Luke was completely stunned. He quickly pulled his soul out of the body, hovering in the sky.

Stripped of its soul, the infant body fell. Despite dropping several hundred meters, it landed on the ground completely unharmed.

Luke's gaze sharpened, curiosity piqued.

Meanwhile, the Mother Entity and the grotesque infant met. Despite the vast difference in size, this did not prevent the unique emotional exchange between mother and child. They looked at each other, and their expressions slowly changed.

Joy and excitement vanished, replaced by a deep-seated desire rooted in their bloodline.

The mother desired new life. The child desired growth.

The mother-child affection lasted only one second before turning into a deadly enmity.

The grotesque infant suddenly attacked, only to be swallowed whole by the Mother Entity in one gulp.

This scene left everyone dumbfounded; they couldn't understand what was happening. J'onn seized the opportunity to break free from the pale-pupiled woman's entanglement. He, Diana, and Clark rushed over to Luke.

"Where have you been? How were you inside that egg?" J'onn demanded.

"Now's not the time for this," Luke said, looking at Diana, his face darkening. "You're injured. Who did this?"

"A female snake-person," Clark explained somewhat awkwardly. "The situation was a bit complicated. We were chased by four snake-people, and then—"

"No need to explain," Diana said with a laugh. "Getting injured is inevitable. We all did. Besides, I took care of that snake-person myself. I avenged my own injury."

Luke was momentarily speechless and felt a pang of self-reproach. He had been too impulsive and hadn't considered their situation. Fortunately, Diana was only wounded and had no other serious issues.
