[Active Skill: Shikigami: Full Moon Slash]
This was a random skill drawn from the Fighter's Gift Pack.
If he remembered correctly, this was Moriya Minakata's super move!
A super move!
Jackpot!
As expected, buying the gift pack had been a wise decision.
Unlike the previous two ranged energy attacks, this was a weapon-based skill—specifically, a sword technique. In the Marvel world, where people could rip apart Gundams barehanded, sword skills might seem a bit underwhelming—but a super move was no joke. Its power couldn't be underestimated.
He glanced around and soon spotted a fallen branch nearby.
Using it as a makeshift sword, he closed his eyes and began to immerse himself in the swordsmanship contained within the skill.
A wave of invisible pressure spread outward from his body.
He simply stood there, yet the surrounding air seemed to thrum, the pressure bending grass and branches to the ground.
And within that wind pressure—there were faint, blade-like thoughts. Countless invisible slivers of intent spun around him, slicing the air like a raging storm. Wherever they swept past, leaves and twigs were shredded into fragments.
A moment later, he opened his eyes.
In that instant, a glint of cold light flashed in his gaze.
Mind follows heart—heart gives birth to the sword. The dry branch in his hand, fragile as it looked, now seemed sharper than a forged blade.
Then he moved.
He swung the makeshift sword at a massive boulder nearby. Sword energy erupted like a rainbow, the pressure rippling his clothes in a violent wind.
The strike itself was silent—only a brief flash of cold light cut through the air.
Lowering his arm, Xu Dan looked ahead. The branch in his hand had disintegrated into dust.
Before him stood a granite boulder, seven or eight meters tall and wide—and a thin crack began to spread down its center.
A super move, indeed—terrifying!
He had actually sliced through solid granite with nothing more than a dead twig.
And that was just a casual test swing! He hadn't even used the true essence of the skill, nor applied any advanced sword techniques.
If this strike had been aimed at a human, even an average superhero might not survive it. One slash—and they'd be nothing but a corpse.
What's more, after using the skill just once, Xu Dan suddenly found himself understanding a wealth of new swordsmanship concepts.
Sword techniques were interconnected—once you grasped one deeply enough, others began to make sense as well. A super move was never born overnight; it contained the distilled insights of its creator. Without that understanding, it couldn't even be executed.
"Phew… my heart's racing a bit!"
That feeling—was amazing!
There were countless kinds of exhilaration in this world. Aside from physical pleasure, half of them came from this—the sheer satisfaction of achievement.
Glancing at the points on his system panel, still steadily climbing, Xu Dan sighed and headed back to his car.
With The King of Fighters' global popularity, the player base was enormous, so his points were actually growing quite fast.
But Xu Dan's ambitions had grown too large.
Unless the system credited him millions of points at once, he barely even felt a flicker of emotion anymore.
After a short rest at the villa, he planned to throw himself into the next project.
With funds now pouring in, he had officially established a gaming company in New York—and purchased a proper office building. No more working out of that cramped little studio.
The success of The King of Fighters had been within his expectations. Fighting games weren't exactly groundbreaking ideas; it was the visuals and technical polish that had carried it to greatness.
Now, the entire world's gaming community praised Antarctic Games.
People called it a billion-dollar studio, a film-level production house, a pioneer of "black-tech" development.
Of course, what the fans were really waiting for—was the company's next game.
The King of Fighters was only a fighting game. Its depth was limited. No matter how stunning the visuals were, players would eventually grow tired of it.
And once player engagement dropped, his point income would plummet.
That was something Xu Dan absolutely couldn't allow.
He needed to develop his next title—and before release, he had to unleash a jaw-dropping, mind-blowing trailer!
Recently, King of Fighters players had even organized themselves and created a dedicated online forum.
The site was flooded with discussion threads, but at the very top—pinned in bold red—was a single featured post:
"Antarctic Games' New Title Set to Launch Next Month – Breaking Conventions, Ushering in a New Era!"
Beneath it were several high-resolution images.
The art style was completely different from The King of Fighters.
If KOF had leaned toward realism and fullness, this new batch of images was pure fantasy—featuring humans, undead, and night elves!
That's right. The game teased in those posters was Warcraft!
Before the rise of League of Legends and PUBG, Warcraft had held an unshakable place in internet cafés everywhere.
Countless passionate youths were captivated by this new kind of hybrid gameplay—a mix of role-playing and real-time strategy.
The style of Warcraft was worlds apart from The King of Fighters.
Back when the global gaming audience was still awakening to new genres, Warcraft's gameplay would have left most people stunned.
What kind of game was this?
Below the teaser post, there was only a single line of text:
"Stay tuned."
That was it. No explanations whatsoever.
He left fans to speculate, to debate, to dream up their own theories.
And all around the world, players were losing their minds—practically spitting blood in anticipation.
They were counting down the days until release.
Meanwhile, Xu Dan leisurely rode the elevator up to his new office.
Compared to his old workspace, the difference was night and day.
Bright, minimalist, and immaculately clean—the décor radiated high-tech elegance.
As for equipment? Every machine was top-of-the-line. Xu Dan was determined to build the best game company in the world, and he refused to cut corners on hardware.
Booting up one of the computers, he began editing the trailer for World of Warcraft.
The promotional posters were already out; now it was time for the explosive cinematic trailer.
Seeing the flood of eager fan comments online, Xu Dan felt an almost electric rush of motivation. He had to make this trailer feel like a full-blown Hollywood blockbuster.
But looking around the empty floor, he sighed. Liva was still back at the villa cleaning, and the entire office was empty—just him, alone.
"It's time to hire some staff."
No matter how capable he was, there was no way two people could run a company of this scale.
